Chapter 1050: Thunder Treasure
Chapter 1050: Thunder Treasure
The next day, Qiao Sang woke up at 8:30 AM.
After a quick freshen-up and breakfast, she set off for the Imperial Beastmaster Academy with Fangy and the others.
On the way, the Thunder Dragon sat on Fangy’s back the entire time.
Although Fangy generally disliked having others on her back, she didn’t mind the Thunder Dragon, whom she had helped hatch from its egg.
The Thunder Dragon looked around with curiosity, fascinated by the new surroundings.
Treasure Seeker held a notebook computer and invisibly searched for missions in mid-air.
Qiao Sang walked through the gates of the Imperial Beastmaster Academy and, following the campus website’s navigation, made her way to the Energy Pavilion.
Compared to other buildings, the Energy Pavilion was much quieter, with few people coming and going.
A mechanical pet, about one meter tall, stood guard at the entrance.
Qiao Sang handed over her student card.
The mechanical pet took it, its eyes glowing green as it scanned the card.
After a moment, it stepped aside, indicating that she could enter.
Qiao Sang retrieved her student card and walked in, following the signs to a pitch-black door.
Apart from a blond boy and a crimson duck pet beast, there was no one else at the door.
Qiao Sang approached and observed the door.
Just as she was about to knock, the blond boy spoke with certainty:
“You’re here for the first time, right?”
Qiao Sang turned to him, confirming he was speaking to her, and asked:
“How did you know?”
“The Energy Pavilion opens at 9:00 AM,” the blond boy explained. “If you disturb the doorclock before this time, it will delay your entry.”
Qiao Sang was taken aback:
“Doorclock?”
The blond boy gestured to the door:
“It’s this.”
So, this is actually a familiar... Qiao Sang looked at the pitch-black door in surprise.
It’s completely unnoticeable!
Then she remembered something and checked the time on her phone:
8:43 AM.
There were still 17 minutes until 9:00 AM... Qiao Sang subconsciously calculated.
As she was thinking, a gentle breeze blew by.
Immediately, a layer of blue energy barrier appeared in front of the door.
“Qingqing...”
Qingbao, clutching his head, retreated to his Beastmaster’s side, becoming visible.
The pitch-black door slowly opened a pair of black, button-like eyes and spoke in a dignified voice:
“Door.”
At the same time, a holographic screen appeared in front of the door, displaying a message:
[Time hasn’t come. Who disturbed me?]
The blond boy looked at her with sympathy.
Wow, it even has a translation... Qiao Sang was amazed, feeling a sense of wonder.
“Qingqing...”
Qingbao looked at his Beastmaster, displaying a pitiful expression as if to say, “I didn’t mean to.”
He had just wanted to float in and take a look, but he didn’t expect the door to have a barrier.
It’s fine, we can just go in a bit later... Qiao Sang comforted Qingbao with her eyes and then turned to the door, saying:
“It’s me.”
“Door,” the doorclock called out.
The message on the holographic screen changed:
[Show your student card.]
Qiao Sang complied.
A blue light beam scanned down from the top of the door.
After about three seconds, the doorclock’s eyes curved, and its voice became unusually polite:
“Door~”
The holographic screen displayed a new message:
[Dear Qiao Sang, you did indeed book a time for today. Do you want to enter now?]
The blond boy, seeing the message, was stunned and stared at Qiao Sang in disbelief, seemingly unable to accept that the doorclock would treat someone so differently.
Qiao Sang was also taken aback but nodded:
"I want to go in now."
"Door door~" The doorclock repeated in the same tone, and then the blue Barrier disappeared, and the door slowly opened.
Qiao Sang glanced at the blond boy with a look that said, "Didn't you say disturbing the doorclock would delay things?" and then led Fangy and the others inside.
The door slowly closed behind them.
The blond boy and the crimson duck pet beast exchanged bewildered looks.
Could the rules have changed? The blond boy thought for a moment, then raised his hand and knocked on the door.
The doorclock opened its eyes and spoke with authority:
"Door door?"
A holographic screen appeared, displaying:
[Did you disturb me?]
The blond boy took out his student card and held it up to the scanner, saying:
"I also have an Energy Bath appointment for today."
A blue light scanned down.
"Door door." The doorclock's eyes remained unchanged, and it called out coldly.
The holographic screen displayed a message:
[The Energy Bath isn't open yet. You disturbed me early, so please come back in two hours.]
The blond boy: "!!!"
He shouted in disbelief, "Why! The girl before me was allowed in!"
"Door door." The doorclock, which had been about to close its eyes, opened them again and called out.
The message on the holographic screen changed:
[You not only disturbed me early but also interrupted my rest. Please come back in four hours.]
The blond boy: "……"
...
Inside the door.
A massive circular Energy Pool came into view.
On a nearby resting chair, a woman who looked to be in her early thirties with dark skin looked over, her eyes showing a hint of surprise.
Then, as if she remembered something, she raised her hand and checked the time on her watch, asking:
"Are you from the Imperial Class?"
This clearly was a teacher... Qiao Sang used a respectful tone:
"How did you know?"
"Because only Imperial Class students are allowed to enter early by the doorclock", the dark-skinned woman explained.
So that's how it is. I almost thought the student at the door was lying to me... Qiao Sang thought to herself.
"Give me your student card", the woman said.
Qiao Sang handed over her student card.
The woman took it, scanned it with her mobile phone, and then returned it, saying:
"You only have one slot, so only one familiar is allowed to enter the Energy Bath."
She then looked around at Fangy and the others: "Have you decided which familiar will go in?"
Qiao Sang nodded:
"I have."
With that, she nodded at Steel Treasure, who stepped forward.
"Go ahead", the woman instructed. "Come out when you start feeling pain."
"Steel Blade." Steel Treasure nodded, flapped his wings, and flew into the Energy Bath.
This place is much more humane than Supernest, and I can even watch from the side... Qiao Sang thought as she took a seat on a nearby resting chair.
In the Energy Pool.
A steady stream of energy flowed into Steel Treasure's body, and he looked visibly relaxed.
Treasure Seeker was diligently searching for missions and didn't pay much attention.
A gentle breeze blew over the Energy Pool, causing the water to ripple slightly.
The woman glanced in the direction of the Energy Pool and calmly said:
"If any additional familiars enter the Energy Pool, you'll need to pay extra credits or face a major demerit."
Qiao Sang asked, playing along:
"How many credits?"
"At least ten thousand credits", the woman smiled. "Because it's not allowed for additional familiars to enter outside of the allotted slots."
That's pretty strict, but it makes sense, otherwise, these slots wouldn't be so valuable... Qiao Sang thought.
A breeze blew by, and Qingbao floated over to his Beastmaster's side, pretending he hadn't been anywhere.
"Thunder..."
Thunder Dragon looked at the Energy Pool, took a deep breath, and his eyes lit up as if he had smelled something he liked. He climbed off Fangy and hurriedly crawled toward the Energy Pool.
However, before he could take a few steps, his tail was gently held down by Fangy's front paw.
“Thunder!”
No matter what, Thunder Dragon couldn’t move, so he turned his head and let out a dissatisfied cry.
“Ya Ya.”
“Ya Ya.”
Fangy earnestly gave his lesson, explaining that they couldn’t just go in, as their Beastmaster was too poor to afford it.
Fangy really had grown up, taking on more of a big brother role, though his words remained as straightforward as ever... Qiao Sang’s lips twitched in a shadowy smile, feeling a strange sense of comfort.
“Thunder?”
Thunder Dragon displayed a puzzled expression.
Their Beastmaster?
“Ya Ya.”
Fangy pointed at Qiao Sang.
“Thunder…”
Thunder Dragon stared at Qiao Sang for two seconds, then showed a dejected look and silently climbed back onto Fangy’s back.
This Thunder Dragon was quite intelligent, understanding what "poor" and "can't afford" meant... Qiao Sang reflected inwardly.
At that moment, the woman said:
“I heard that one of your Imperial Class students bonded with a legendary familiar. Is that true?”
Qiao Sang paused for a moment. “Yes, it is.”
The woman clicked her tongue and asked, “What’s the name?”
“Qiao Sang,” Qiao Sang replied.
The woman recalled the student card she had seen earlier and quickly realized, her eyes brightening. “You’re the student who bonded with the legendary familiar?”
Qiao Sang straightened his back. “That’s right.”
The woman’s gaze swept over Fangy and the others before she said:
“You should also have a familiar with Wind Transformation nearby.”
Did she already know that the bonded pet was Qingqing from the Legend? Qiao Sang feigned surprise and asked:
“How did you know?”
Spirit sight usually only revealed familiars with the Invisibility Trait, and Qingbao didn’t fall into that category.
“Because a Wind Transformation familiar tried to enter the Energy Bath just now,” the woman answered.
What? Qiao Sang turned his head in surprise and looked in the direction of Qingbao’s Wind Transformation.
“Qingqing.”
Qingbao appeared, blinking her eyes and calling out innocently, indicating that she had only been watching and hadn’t gone in.
That’s true. Although Qingbao’s personality had changed, she was still quite sensible overall... Qiao Sang breathed a sigh of relief.
The woman looked at Qingbao for a few seconds, her eyes brightening.
“Your bonded pet is the Clear Hidden Sprite from the Legend.”
Qiao Sang nodded.
“Qingqing.” Qingbao smiled and greeted her.
The woman was utterly charmed, her heart fluttering, and she beckoned Qingbao with a gentle voice:
“Come here, let me pet you.”
“Qingqing~”
Qingbao called out sweetly but didn’t move.
“What did it say?” the woman asked.
Qiao Sang paused for a moment and translated:
“It says if it can soak in the Energy Bath, you can pet it.”
“Qingqing.” Qingbao nodded, confirming it.
The woman was silent for a few seconds, then chuckled:
“I’d love to let you in, but the spots for the Energy Bath aren’t under my control.”
“Qingqing…” Qingbao sighed and then floated over to the woman, taking her hand and placing it on her body.
The woman was taken aback.
Qiao Sang cleared his throat and said:
“It was just joking.”
“Qingqing.” Qingbao nodded.
The woman laughed genuinely, then raised her hand and pressed a button on her watch.
A holographic screen appeared out of nowhere.
“Bring a plate of Psychic Fruit over.”
After about ten seconds, a plate of Psychic Fruit appeared on the table beside them.
The woman pushed the plate of Psychic Fruit toward Qingbao and said:
“Eat up, I’m sure you’ll like it.”
“Qingqing~”
Qingbao called out sweetly, moved to the Psychic Fruit, and picked one up to nibble on.
"Thunder..."
Seeing the situation, Thunder Dragon seemed to understand something. It moved its body and crawled over to the woman, looking up at her.
The woman lowered her head and looked at it.
"Thunder", Thunder Dragon called out.
"What did it say?" the woman asked.
"Ya Ya", Fangy helped translate.
Qiao Sang paused for a moment. "It wants you to pet it too."
The woman laughed, reaching out her hand as she said, "This is Thunder Dragon, right? Too bad, I don't have any Dragon-type familiar fruits..."
"Thunder!"
Thunder Dragon's expression darkened, and arcs of yellow lightning began to surge from its body.
The woman, caught off guard, was struck by the lightning, and her voice cut off abruptly.
Qiao Sang was startled and quickly said, "Teacher, are you okay?"
The woman calmly pulled back her hand as if nothing had happened. "I'm fine."
Thunder Dragon moved its body and climbed back onto Fangy.
The teachers at the Imperial Beastmaster Academy are truly extraordinary; they can remain unperturbed even after being struck by lightning... Qiao Sang inwardly admired her and explained, "My Thunder Dragon just hatched, and it still can't control its Electric-type energy very well."
The woman glanced at Qiao Sang and pointed out, "It was clearly upset because it heard I don't have any Dragon-type fruits, so it didn't want me to pet it."
Qiao Sang gave an awkward smile.
She figured it out...
"Dragon-type familiars are generally arrogant", the woman said as she lay back in her recliner. "I was prepared for it."
Arrogant, huh... Qiao Sang's gaze fell on Thunder Dragon.
Time slowly passed.
After an unknown duration, a blinding white light began to emanate from Steel Treasure in the Energy Bath.
Qiao Sang's spirit lifted, and she stood up with a refreshed demeanor.
When the white light faded, a large familiar appeared in the Energy Bath. It was covered in tough purple armor, with silver turbine-like devices on the upper sides of its wings, several silver stripes on its body, a conical protrusion on its helmet, a silver-white metal nose bridge, and dark red irises with purple pupils.
Steel Chief Kaien... Qiao Sang's mind recalled the species name of Steel Treasure's current form.
"Steel Chief."
Steel Treasure looked over and called out.
...
After leaving the Imperial Beastmaster Academy, Qiao Sang headed straight to the nearby Beastmaster Center.
It took the entire afternoon to complete the necessary certifications, officially confirming Steel Treasure's Royal Tier form and species name, and updating the records.
Back home, after dinner, Fangy and the others headed to the Open Training Ground one by one.
Except for Treasure Seeker, who said he had found a mission and needed to earn some credits.
Qiao Sang looked at Thunder Dragon, who was following Fangy, and remembered what the teacher in the Energy Pavilion had said. She couldn't help but walk over and pick it up.
"Thunder!"
Thunder Dragon suddenly took to the air, startled, and yellow lightning arcs appeared on its body.
At this moment, Qiao Sang asked, "Can we get along well from now on?"
"Thunder..."
Hearing the voice, Thunder Dragon realized who had picked it up, and the electric arcs on its body subsided instinctively.
It turned its head to look at the human in front of it.
"I'll give you a name", Qiao Sang said. "How about 'Bao'?"
Dragon-type familiars are generally arrogant, but so what? Among her bonded pets, only Lulu had a good temperament according to the Beast Identifier's descriptions.
Thunder Dragon, having realized it was "poor" and stopped going to the Energy Bath, Qiao Sang believed she could get along with it.
