Chapter 105: When the Sun Shines on the Cursed Techniques
Chapter 105: When the Sun Shines on the Cursed Techniques
On a bright and sunny morning near Harajuku, the young students of the Cursed Techniques High School leaned against the railing, waiting for their last classmate.
Yuuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki were discussing the situation. Yuuji, puzzled, asked, "Are there only a few of us in the first year?"
"Being a Cursed Technique user is a rare calling."
Nobara remained calm, explaining that the number of Cursed Technique users had always been small. Even in the prestigious Three Great Families, the true Cursed Technique users numbered no more than a dozen. The direct descendants who inherited the best techniques were even fewer.
Gojo Satoru seemed to have drained all the essence of the Gojo family, while the Zenin family had a slightly larger number, but still fewer than ten. In other worlds, such a small group wouldn't even be considered a family.
The Amame family was the worst off. Despite having weaker techniques and less power, they were so diminished that they had to adopt illegitimate children to avoid being disbanded.
"Sounds like an endangered species," Yuuji couldn't help but comment.
"Not really. As long as humans have negative emotions, Cursed Spirits will keep appearing, and Cursed Technique users, their natural enemies, will always exist. It's the way the world works," Gojo said with a smile, shaking his head.
Luk walked over with a large bag of pastries, waving them around.
"Want something to eat? They're all from highly-rated shops."
"I'll take a crepe."
"An apple pie, please."
Two hands reached out without hesitation.
Luk (ー`ー): "Change of plans, you two can go hungry."
He couldn't let them get used to mooching off him without even calling him "sensei."
"Che, so stingy. I hope Teacher Gojo gets back soon."
Yuuji muttered under his breath, only to look up and see Gojo's narrow-eyed gaze, which clearly said, "I'll remember this."
"I have a bad feeling about this, so I'll go deal with it. You're in charge of the students."
After receiving a report from Kento Nanami confirming an issue with the Amame family, Gojo left to handle it, leaving the task of supervising the students to the assistant teacher.
Luk was also frustrated. He had come to be a student, but now he had to figure out how to expand his domain and take care of three inexperienced students.
"Teacher Luk, is that the last student?"
Luk followed their gaze and saw a brown-haired woman forcefully grabbing an idol manager, who looked troubled.
"Hey, if she can be an idol, why can't I?"
The manager gently refused, "If there's a fighting movie in the future, I'll definitely cast you as the lead."
The woman, with short hair, a tough build, and a stern expression, lacked any feminine charm. Such an idol just wasn't in vogue anymore!
"How rude, you baldy! You didn't even leave your contact info." The woman tugged at the manager's shirt, "I'll give you one last chance. If you can make me a star, I won't fire you when I'm famous."
"Please, look in a mirror. You're not cut out to be an idol!"
The argument was cut short by Luk.
"Are you a new student at the High School? Over here, your classmates have been waiting for you!"
The brown-haired girl grumbled, released the manager, and stomed over, introducing herself with a haughty lift of her chin.
"Daiya Inumaki. Boys, be happy, I'm the only girl here."
"Hi, I'm Yuuji Itadori, from Sendai!" Yuuji greeted her warmly, smiling.
Nobara remained aloof, "Nobara Kugisaki."
As a courtesy to the girl, Luk handed her a crepe, "I'm your teacher, Luk Fujiwara. Would you like something to eat?"
Daiya glanced at the three of them, sighing in disgust.
The pink-haired one looked like a bumpkin, probably ate boogers as a kid. The black-haired one just gave her name, acting all cold and aloof, not her type at all. And the teacher, while attractive, was definitely a scumbag.
What bad luck, not even a decent romantic prospect in sight.
Just as she was about to say something, she noticed the manager who had just rejected her following them, his face full of flattery. She pretended to be unimpressed, but inwardly she was delighted.
"Hmph, you finally came to your senses? If you beg nicely, I might consider it..."
Before she could finish, the manager rushed past her, grabbing Luk's hand with glowing eyes, his tone and posture embarrassingly low, "Sir, would you be interested in becoming an idol? I can make you the most popular male star in Japan!"
Luk blinked. He had used a simple technique to conceal himself, but the manager seemed to have a keen eye and had picked up on his succubus-like qualities.
"Sorry, not interested."
He shook his head. Being an idol required practicing singing, dancing, and rapping, which was more work than being a Cursed Technique user.
All he needed to do was beat the crap out of his opponents!
"Hey, what kind of taste do you have? You ignore the rising star right in front of you and go for a man!"
Daiya's forehead veins throbbed. Her charm couldn't even compete with a man?
"That's too bad. Here's my business card. Please feel free to contact me if you have the time."
The agent's face showed disappointment as he glanced at the team, then his gaze shifted to Boze Fushi. "This young man also has great potential to be an idol. Have you considered it?"
"Sorry, I'm not interested."
Boze Fushi was equally uninterested.
The agent's disappointment deepened, and he looked at Satoru Gojo. "Really, not even a little bit? I think you and this sunny, energetic young man would make a fantastic CP pair. It would definitely draw a lot of fans."
These days, girls love two things: handsome boys and pairs of handsome boys together.
"Are you serious? These two are fine, but I'm not?" Natsuki Yoshizawa was on the verge of explosion. The three men she didn't care for were all being considered, and now she wondered if there was a gender requirement for becoming an idol.
"Sorry, they are all students. Their minds are focused solely on their studies, not on worldly desires."
"What about you?"
"Even though I have worldly desires, I also love learning!"
After firmly rejecting the agent, Luk ignored Natsuki Yoshizawa's request to explore Tokyo and packed the three main characters into his car, driving them back to the high school.
Now, unlike in the original story, Boze Fushi's injuries were healed by Luk's reversal technique. The team's dynamics needed to involve all three of them, not just Gojo and Yoshizawa.
After assigning a dorm room to Natsuki Yoshizawa, Luk led the three to the training ground.
"First, let's prepare for a baseline test."
The three immediately frowned, their faces contorted as if they had eaten something awful. Clearly, all students hate tests.
"Before we start the test, introduce yourselves. It would be best to reveal your techniques as well. You can keep some secrets as trump cards, but consider it a way to buff yourself with bindings."
Luk suggested, "Otherwise, it will be awkward if you fail the baseline test."
Satoru Gojo stepped forward first. "I'm Satoru Gojo, 15 years old! I love watching TV and eating delicious food, but I'm not picky. My favorite actress is Jennifer Lawrence!"
"Say something useful, like your technique... Forget it, you don't have one," Boze Fushi sighed. "This guy has incredible physical strength. Even a typical curse technician using curse power to enhance themselves can't match him."
"Boze Fushi, my technique is the 'Ten Shadows Technique.' I can summon pre-tamed spirits. Currently, I can summon Nue, Toad, and Orochi."
Satoru Gojo scratched his head. "What about your jade dog?"
"..." Boze Fushi was grinding his teeth, "Do you know who's to blame for that?!" The 'Ten Shadows Technique' is indivisible, but the ownership rights to the jade dog were transferred to Luk through a vow. The dog no longer listens to him.
Natsuki Yoshizawa's eagerness to perform was surprisingly strong. She lifted her chin and spoke briskly, "Natsuki Yoshizawa, 16 years old. My technique is the 'Straw Spirit Curse,' a curse-based technique. Although I'm a third-class curse technician now, I'm confident I can beat a regular second-class technician."
"I hate ordinary, mundane things and people who only envy beautiful things. I love trendy and fashionable things. One day, I will become a famous star, and you'll be glad you were my colleagues. Also, my favorite person is Sazuki."
Luk's eyes lit up. "You like Sazuki too?"
"What are you talking about? You know Sazuki?" Natsuki Yoshizawa was puzzled.
"Of course, I love the voice acting of Sazuki Early in Ikaros and Snow White Snow!"
Natsuki Yoshizawa: (▼_▼)
Anyone, please give her a more serious teacher!
"Alright, since you've all introduced yourselves, let's start the baseline test."
Seeing the teacher about to start the test, Satoru Gojo, who hated exams, interrupted.
"Wait! Teacher Luk, you haven't introduced yourself yet."
"Do I still need to introduce myself? Have I been wasting my time all these years?" Luk grumbled.
Boze Fushi's lips twitched. "Teacher, do you need me to remind you that you've only been in the curse world for a few days?"
"Fine, my name is Fujiwara Luk, 27 years old. I live in the house provided by the high school, I'm unmarried, I don't smoke, and I only drink a little. I love animals that have fur and are durable, and I hate incompetent bosses, annoying colleagues, and low salaries."
With this combination of two men and one woman, a boy with a monster sealed inside him, a cold and distant second male lead, and a somewhat masculine female supporting character, and a tall, white-haired teacher with an eye patch, the teaching scenario was already set.
Luk pulled out two bells from his pocket. "Try to grab them. One of you will fail the baseline test."
Satoru Gojo: "Is this from 'Naruto'? It has to be, right, Teacher? Copying the process like this is wrong."
"..." Satoru, clean the entire high school toilet after the test!"
