Chapter 1043: Purchasing Ore
Chapter 1043: Purchasing Ore
September 25th, 2027
There's a saying, isn't there?
A woman's heart is as fickle as the tides.
Lu HaiKong couldn't understand for the life of him why Princess San's mood had suddenly soured. He examined his own actions and found nothing amiss. What could have upset her?
But Lu HaiKong didn't dwell on this mystery for long. He quickly set aside his confusion and hurried after her.
Princess San was in no mood to give Lu HaiKong the time of day when he caught up.
However, by now, Lu HaiKong had become adept at handling such situations. He confidently grabbed her hand, unperturbed by her protests and struggles, refusing to let go.
After spending so much time with Princess San, Lu HaiKong had come to understand her true nature. She was the type to resist at first but eventually succumb. Sensing her feeble resistance, Lu HaiKong boldly embraced her and playfully nipped her lips.
With Lu HaiKong's assertive move, Princess San quickly transformed into a shy young bride, her head bowed and cheeks flushed, as she allowed herself to be led by him. Anyone seeing her at this moment would struggle to associate her with the fearsome tigress she was known to be.
Hand in hand, the couple strolled through Kunlun City.
In their current state, they hardly looked like they were there on official business; instead, they appeared to be on a romantic date.
Indeed, as soon as they clasped hands, they seemed to forget all about their original purpose, truly embracing the moment as a date.
Amidst this relaxed and romantic atmosphere, the pair wandered through the city.
Kunlun City, as a system-created city, was indeed unique, unlike any other in this world.
Within its boundaries, Lu HaiKong witnessed not only ancient architecture imbued with the weight of history but also numerous novel sights.
For instance, there were carriages drawn by automaton beasts roaming the streets and street lamps that glowed even during the day, illuminating every corner of the city. This fusion of ancient and innovative elements imbued the city with a special charm.
As Kunlun City was a neutral zone where the use of force was prohibited, Lu HaiKong, who expected to see many weapon and item shops, was surprised to find almost none in the central district.
Instead, he noticed an abundance of eateries, entertainment venues, and recreational facilities.
Guided by Princess San, Lu HaiKong toured numerous attractions in Kunlun City, indulged in various delicacies, and gained a basic understanding of the city during their exploration.
Lu HaiKong observed that the city seemed to attract a substantial number of outsiders, and he and Princess San frequently spotted individuals who were unmistakably 'loose persons.'
Of course, the term 'substantial' was relative; there were likely only a few hundred such individuals. Lu HaiKong and Princess San encountered them because they were in the city's central and most commercial area, where meeting people was commonplace.
During their exploration, Lu HaiKong inquired about outsiders from the local NPCs, learning that more and more people from the outside world were visiting, and some had even purchased properties and shops in the city.
Upon hearing this news, Lu HaiKong's eyes lit up with anticipation.
Indeed, many others had also recognized the potential of Kunlun City, understanding that once it officially opened, property values would skyrocket, presenting a golden opportunity for substantial profits.
However, despite this enticing prospect, Lu HaiKong didn't rush to seize the opportunity.
After touring the city, he had gained a general understanding of Kunlun City's situation. Many properties and shops remained vacant, and Lu HaiKong wasn't concerned about them disappearing anytime soon. This was a rare opportunity for a date with Princess San, and he was determined to make it as perfect as possible.
After spending the entire day with Princess San, they concluded their date on a high note. Following a simple (extremely simple, as simple as it could be) night's rest in Kunlun City, Lu HaiKong finally turned his attention to his official duties the next morning.
Lu HaiKong first headed not to the City Lord's Mansion, which he had inquired about earlier, but instead made his way to the largest blacksmith shop in Kunlun City.
After all, purchasing Mythic-level ore would not be a small expense, and Lu HaiKong needed to ensure he had sufficient funds for this transaction. He didn't want to overspend on real estate and shops, only to find himself short of money when buying the ore, which would be a tragedy.
The blacksmith shop was located in a corner on the western side of Kunlun City, a rather secluded area.
On one hand, in a world where martial arts were completely banned, blacksmith shops were generally not given much attention. Additionally, unlike other shops, blacksmith shops required a large area and needed to use fire and hammers to forge weapons, causing quite a disturbance to the neighborhood. It was only natural that they were situated in a corner.
Lu HaiKong and Princess San arrived at the blacksmith shop in a carriage pulled by an automaton monkey. After tossing a gold coin into the chest of the automaton monkey, they stepped into the shop.
As soon as they entered, they were met with a scorching wave of heat and the clanging sounds of hammers, creating a chaotic atmosphere.
For someone who had never been to such a place before, it would be hard not to frown upon entering this environment.
Lu HaiKong was no stranger to blacksmith shops, so he was accustomed to this setting and remained unfazed. As for Princess San by his side, despite her delicate appearance, she was the type who could sleep peacefully even amidst a sea of corpses. Such a scene was nothing to her.
The calm reactions of Lu HaiKong and Princess San caught the attention of a nearby attendant, who quickly approached them with a smile. "Welcome, sir. How may I assist you today?"
Lu HaiKong glanced at the attendant, a young man with a clear complexion, and furrowed his brows slightly. "I'm not sure if you have what I'm looking for."
The attendant's expression soured at Lu HaiKong's words. "Excuse me? We are the best blacksmith shop in all of Kunlun. No matter your requirements, we can fulfill them. Our shop can craft Legendary, Pseudo-Mythic, and even Mythic-level weapons as long as you can afford the price!"
The attendant's chest puffed out with pride as he spoke, and he had every right to be proud of their shop's capabilities.
Lu HaiKong nodded in response. "In that case, you should be able to meet my needs. I want fifteen types of Mythic-level ore, one hundred pounds of each."
"What?" The attendant was stunned, his eyes wide. He had seen customers come to the blacksmith shop for kitchen knives, but he had never imagined someone would come to buy ore!
If it weren't for Lu HaiKong's serious demeanor, he might have thought this customer was looking for trouble.
The attendant maintained his composure and didn't give Lu HaiKong a chance to embarrass him. Sensing that the customer was indeed serious, he quickly went to fetch their master blacksmith.
The master blacksmith was an elderly man, appearing to be around fifty years old, with a mix of black and white hair and a dark complexion. Despite his age, he seemed quite energetic.
As Lu HaiKong laid eyes on the old man, a golden light flashed in his eyes, instantly revealing the old man's true nature.
Unsurprisingly, the old man was a Master-level blacksmith with considerable skill.
As he approached Lu HaiKong, his face showed a hint of excitement. While Lu HaiKong examined him, the old man was also sizing up Lu HaiKong.
The old man seemed to possess a unique skill for observing people, and the more he looked at Lu HaiKong, the more pleased he became.
"Sir, are you here to purchase Mythic-level ore?" the old man asked.
Lu HaiKong's eyebrows rose slightly, sensing that something was amiss, but he nodded in affirmation. "Yes, I am. I require fifteen types of Mythic-level ore, one hundred pounds of each. Do you have them in stock?"
"Yes, we do!" The old man replied firmly, his gaze toward Lu HaiKong growing more intense.
"That's good to hear. Then I'd like to purchase..."
Before Lu HaiKong could finish his sentence, the old man interrupted him.
"Sir, I don't want to sell you the ore, but if you agree to one condition, I can provide it to you for free!"
