Chapter 1042: Destruction of My Beautiful Dining Space!
Chapter 1042: Destruction of My Beautiful Dining Space!
As the pirate fleet approached the slowly navigating warship, the crew aboard the warship finally spotted the incoming threat.
"Report!"
A navy officer burst into the upper command office of the standard warship, saluted sharply, and announced, "A pirate fleet has been sighted ahead! They're closing in on us!"
"A pirate fleet?"
Kuro Deng Shi, who had just learned of the news, was stunned. He quickly demanded, "Which pirates? Kaido? Big Mom? Red-Haired Shanks? Marshall D. Teach?"
"None of them. I don't recognize the flag, but it's definitely a pirate crew."
Not every navy officer could memorize all pirate flags. Even Kuro himself didn't expect his subordinates to be experts.
"Go check it out", Kuro instructed Klah.
Klah obeyed, following the officer outside. Through the telescope, he observed the approaching fleet. As soon as he saw the flag, his eyebrows shot up.
"Could it be this coincidental?"
He handed the telescope back and ordered the officer, "Inform the crew to prepare for cannon fire and combat readiness. Stay vigilant."
In a flash, he vanished from the deck and darted to the upper office, reporting, "Kuro, sir, I've confirmed it. It's Sam William's pirate fleet."
"Sam William?"
Kuro blinked in confusion. "Who's that?"
Klah hesitated, then whispered, "Your fellow countryman. The one you praised for his cigars."
"That old bastard?!"
Kuro suddenly remembered. "What’s he doing attacking a navy warship? I thought he was cautious!"
Before Klah could reply, a thunderous cannon blast shook the office. A massive splash of seawater slammed against the window.
Lida had been carefully opening her mouth to take a bite of a delicate small cake when the shockwave hit, scattering its edible decorations. With lightning-fast reflexes, she caught the falling pieces, but her face twisted into a sour grimace.
Her beautiful dessert was ruined!
"Who dares?!"
She shoved the ruined cake and decorations into her mouth, chewed twice, then stormed out the door, fuming.
"Let’s go see what that William is up to in the New World. Did he finally lose his mind? Why is he attacking navy ships now?"
Kuro adjusted his hooded cloak and stepped outside.
He had tolerated William for years—partly because the man was a harmless fool he enjoyed teasing, and partly because William avoided conflict. The pirate always fled from navy ships without fighting, causing no real trouble.
The world was vast, overflowing with pirates. The navy couldn't chase every one. Most officers focused on heinous criminals, letting insignificant ones like William slip by.
But now, William was attacking? Had he gone mad?
Near the Grand Line, the pirate flagship opened fire first. The cannonball missed the warship, exploding in the water nearby and rocking the vessel. The gunner prepared to reload, but William halted him.
"One warning shot is enough. I want the navy to report this back, not sink their ship entirely", William declared. He strode to the bow, his eyes glinting cruelly. He raised his arm, transforming it into a steaming palm that plunged into the sea.
"Overheat!"
The seawater boiled violently, sending a scalding path toward the warship. Moments later, massive steam pillars erupted around the warship, piercing three holes into its hull. The damaged vessel lost maneuverability, trapped like a turtle in a jar.
William didn’t intend to destroy them. He’d decided to surround the warship and confront the navy alone, showcasing his strength. He wanted the navy to report his power to headquarters, forcing them to reassess his threat level and raise his bounty.
But first, let them suffer his heat.
"Close in!" William barked confidently.
"Essenceshockwave!"
Before the fleet could fully encircle the warship, a shrill feminine cry rang from the steamed vessel. The steam parted as a beam of white light shot forth, striking the pirate fleet.
William, still smirking, had no time to react as the light surged toward his face.
"William!"
Montblanc lunged forward, crossing his arms to block with Haki. The impact sent him crashing through the deck, his face contorting. Teeth gritted, he shoved the beam skyward, sending it soaring like a meteor.
He lowered his arms, numbness spreading through them.
"Who destroyed my beautiful dining space?!" Lida’s enraged voice thundered from the warship. "Do you know how rare these cakes are? Only Astartes makes them, and I already left Astartes!"
On the warship’s deck stood a white-haired girl in a navy hooded cloak, arms raised and glaring furiously.
"You again!"
Lida clenched her fists, her hands glowing white. "Die for interrupting my meal!"
She thrust her hands forward, unleashing a massive shockwave. The beam split midair, scattering toward the fleet.
"Essenceimpact·Split Void!"
"Overheat Steam!"
William finally reacted, summoning dense steam clouds to shield the fleet.
"Fools! My shockwave will destroy you!" Lida roared.
The shockwaves tore through the steam, striking the smaller pirate ships.
Boom!
Except the flagship, the fleet disintegrated as explosions ripped through their hulls, sending them sinking into the Grand Line.
"Little brat!" William snarled, his ships vanishing beneath the waves.
He didn’t finish his curse before two figures emerged behind Lida.
One wore a black suit and glasses—familiar to all.
The other...
"What happened? Who’s repairing the holes?" Kuro frowned at the warship’s damage.
William stared at the man behind Lida, eyes widening in shock and fury.
"Lucius Kro!!"
