Chapter 104: Transformation - Celestial Wheel Armor
Chapter 104: Transformation - Celestial Wheel Armor
After Mira finished her performance, Marcus enthusiastically announced, "Next up, it's the magic demonstration segment!"
Mira immediately launched into a series of punches, her tiger-clawed gloves glowing with magical energy.
Her pet bird, Bipe, fluttered around her, transforming into fireballs and ice spikes at will.
"Oh, what a wild and powerful performance!"
Marcus continued to provide commentary, explaining Mira's impressive display to those unfamiliar with magic, eliciting a wave of applause from the audience.
Even Makarov was swept up in the excitement, joining the ordinary spectators in their enthusiastic cheers.
Rod looked at the energetic old man beside him with a helpless expression. "Master, why did you come over here?"
Makarov countered, "This is a guild event. What's wrong with me participating?"
Rod replied, "It's not that it's wrong... don't you need to stay with Master Hage and Master Goldmine?"
"They know this city better than you do. Why would I need to accompany them? Now, stop talking and enjoy the show."
Makarov suddenly complained, "You almost made me miss the best part."
"..." Fine, Rod accepted that this was just how the Master was.
"Next, we have contestant number two, Levy McGarden!"
Following the same routine as Mira, Levy showcased her magic by writing words like 'flowers,' 'butterflies,' and 'snowflakes' with her fingers, making them float around her, highlighting her adorable and lively personality.
The cute girl type was very popular, especially with Jet and Droy, whose cheers drowned out most of the surrounding audience.
"Contestant number three, Bisca Mila!"
Bisca, dressed in a cowgirl outfit, carried a long rifle onto the stage and fired several precise shots at the pre-arranged targets.
She then used her transformation magic to switch the long rifle to a handgun and fired another round.
Her final action of blowing away the gunpowder smoke from the barrel caused a wave of screams and made Alzack's face turn red.
"Contestant number four, Cana Alberona!"
Cana had a bit of an unexpected moment when she took the stage, as it seemed she had already had a few drinks.
She was wearing her usual outfit and, upon reaching the stage, grabbed a large barrel of alcohol and drank from it.
If it weren't for Marcus's commentary, the audience might have thought her magic was drinking.
"What is Cana doing?" Laxus, holding a paintbrush, wondered if he should start drawing.
Wolfe said, "She probably went up there to earn some bonus money for more alcohol, but ended up drinking on stage instead."
Nab commented, "Very much her style."
Bisca and Levy, who had just finished their performances, returned to the stage to carry the now-drunk Cana off, while Mira removed the alcohol barrel.
"Ah, Contestant Cana had a bit of an incident, but next up is a heavyweight:
Contestant number five, the Fairy Queen with beauty and power equally stunning—Erza Scarlet!"
"Ooh, ooh, ooh!!!"
Erza's fame clearly surpassed that of the previous contestants. Just her appearance in her usual armor caused the most enthusiastic cheers since the event began.
"Transformation—Celestial Wheel Armor!"
A flash of light, and Erza was adorned in a magnificent set of metal armor, with a pair of steel wings like butterfly wings unfolding behind her, lifting her into the air.
Erza held two swords, and sixteen Celestial Wheel Swords orbited around her, slowly rotating in response to her mental commands.
"Oh, oh, oh~~~" Many in the audience couldn't help but let out wolf whistles.
In the brief moment between the old armor vanishing and the new armor appearing, it seemed like they saw something, yet nothing at all.
Wearing the Celestial Wheel Armor, Erza looked both like a beautiful angel and a valiant female warrior.
Even Rod had to admit that he was stunned by Erza’s appearance.
"Oh, oh, oh! Erza!" Makarov, the guild master, actually hopped up and down, shouting Erza’s name like a fan ready to storm the stage.
Rod couldn’t help but remind the revered Ten Wizard Saints, "Guild Master, please try to maintain some dignity."
"What dignity, we’re watching a competition, Rod!" Makarov’s excitement subsided a little, "By the way, Rod, you remind me of Mira when she tries to get me to drink less."
The guild master sure knew how to give compliments. Rod replied, "Then perhaps you should listen to her and drink a bit less."
Makarov didn’t want to talk to him anymore.
Rod looked around, and the audience was in awe of Erza’s beauty and prowess.
No wonder Erza and Mira had been rivals since childhood; the two were evenly matched in every way.
He was starting to worry if Mira could win.
Erza swung her sword, and the surrounding swords arranged themselves in a line and shot out.
Sixteen Celestial Wheel Swords zipped over the heads of the audience, forming a circle, a pentagram, and a snake-like pattern before returning to Erza’s back.
Erza landed back on the stage, satisfied, and resumed her usual attire.
The audience below felt a chill run down their spines. They could almost feel the wind from the flying swords!
The sensation of those swords passing overhead was something they never wanted to experience again.
"What astonishing control! What beautiful swordsmanship!" Marcus tried his best to salvage the slightly awkward atmosphere.
Macao rubbed his purple short hair, "Erza went a bit too far, didn’t she?"
Wakaba nervously adjusted his pompadour, feeling like his hair had almost been cut off, "Who in their right mind would show off their armor in a competition like this?"
As if they hadn’t been among those staring at Erza with hearts in their eyes just moments ago.
Marcus, on stage, had no choice but to continue, "Next, let’s introduce our sixth contestant!"
"The pride of our guild, a beauty who will one day make the entire continent swoon, Mira Jane Strauss!"
Mira walked onto the stage in her usual favorite red dress.
"Ooh, ooh, ooh!!!"
"We’ve been waiting for you!"
"You’re even cuter in person than in the magazines!"
The cheers from the audience were no less enthusiastic than for Erza, and perhaps even more so due to the previous incident.
Mira smiled and waved, "Hello everyone, I specialize in Transformation Magic. I’ll be demonstrating that next."
Rod had a bad feeling.
The first time Mira showed him her Transformation Magic, she had transformed into a series where only her head was a Poro or only her head was Rod...
Later, during a costume contest with Jenny, she even transformed into Gajeel once.
Surely she wouldn’t pull something like that in this competition, right?
He should have taken Laki’s suggestion and given Mira some reliable suggestions and wishes.
When she asked him again the day before, Rod had only said he wanted to see her in a different outfit than usual.
Just don’t go too different!
