Chapter 1037: Wheel Cel
Chapter 1037: Wheel Cel
Qiao Sang finished her breakfast in a leisurely chat.
Migala glanced at the Air elemental beside her.
"Wait!" Qiao Sang called out just in time.
Migala turned to look at her.
Qiao Sang got up and quickly returned to her room. Soon, she came back with the Beast Companion Egg and placed the backpack next to Lulu.
Lulu leaped in without hesitation.
Qiao Sang slung the backpack over her shoulder and said, "I'm ready."
As soon as she spoke, everything went dark.
When the light returned, she found herself standing at the entrance of a spacious Artifacts chamber.
A few classmates passed by in the hallway. They didn't seem surprised to see a person and familiar appear out of nowhere, merely giving a casual glance. However, when their eyes landed on the Treasure Seeker, many of them looked surprised and uncertain, with some even pulling out their phones.
Great, another group mistaking the Treasure Seeker... Qiao Sang thought to herself, keeping a straight face.
"Xunxun..."
The Treasure Seeker clearly understood what those looks meant, puffing out its cheeks in anger before vanishing.
"Knock knock." Migala knocked on the door and pushed it open.
Qiao Sang followed inside and closed the door behind her.
"You're here." The White-haired Elder, who was guiding a familiar in dissolving an ore, looked up and greeted her with a neutral tone.
Then, his eyes fell on Qiao Sang, and he said with a curious expression, "So, you're the 17-year-old B-Class Beastmaster student from the Imperial Class?"
"That's right", Migala nodded.
"Hello, Teacher", Qiao Sang said politely.
The White-haired Elder scrutinized the young girl before him a few times and asked curiously, "How do you usually train your brain domain? Just through meditation?"
Qiao Sang nodded, "But I drank a bottle of Vilis Serum while in the Supernest."
Vilis Serum is nothing special; almost all students at the Imperial Beastmaster Academy have taken it... The old man didn't press further, instead saying, "I heard you want to craft an artifact. What materials do you have?"
His tone was surprisingly gentle, much more so than when he spoke to Migala.
This teacher must have some beef with Teacher Mikara... Qiao Sang thought as she nodded toward the spot where the Treasure Seeker was using Invisibility.
"Xunxun~"
The Treasure Seeker reappeared, removing its Ring and rummaging inside.
The old man stared at the Treasure Seeker, then his face showed surprise, "Is this the Ghost Ring King that stripped someone and threw them into the police station?"
Qiao Sang: "..."
Treasure Seeker: "..."
"It's not that one", Migala said calmly. "Qiao Sang and I have been training in the Dragon Nation recently. She just got back yesterday."
The old man ignored Migala and smiled at Qiao Sang, "Looking exactly like a wanted familiar isn't a good thing. I hope that Ghost Ring King gets caught soon."
So, he does have a beef with Teacher Mikara... Qiao Sang nodded, "I hope so too."
As they talked, the Treasure Seeker found the bag containing the Ancient Shadow Gold and handed it over.
The old man took it, opened it for a quick look, and then turned to the Treasure Seeker, "I see, you want to craft an artifact for this Ghost Ring King."
He then looked at Qiao Sang and asked, "What kind of artifact do you want to craft?"
Qiao Sang thought for a moment and replied, "Something I can carry with me at all times, but not something that fits my body perfectly. My Ghost Ring King is about to evolve, and its size will change."
"Preferably, something with a more intricate design. My Ghost Ring King enjoys beautiful things. As for functionality, I hope the energy can be absorbed more quickly."
"Xunxun~"
Treasure Seeker nodded in agreement.
Its Beastmaster's words resonated deeply with it.
"I understand", the old man said. "Come back in half a month."
His tone suddenly became much colder.
The abrupt change in attitude left Qiao Sang somewhat bewildered, unsure if she had said something wrong. She didn't dare to ask about the cost of credits for fear that he might be in a bad mood and raise the price.
"We'll be going then", Migala said.
The old man waved his hand coldly.
...
After leaving the Artifacts room and heading toward the Imperial Class area, Qiao Sang couldn't contain her curiosity and asked:
"Does Teacher Grover not get along with you?"
Migala sighed. "It's not that he doesn't get along with me, but rather with the entire Imperial Class, including the teachers and students."
"Huh?" Qiao Sang was taken aback.
Wasn't the Imperial Class supposed to be the best class in the Imperial Beastmaster Academy?
Before she could ask, Migala continued:
"Our Imperial Class is focused on the Interstellar Cup, so we naturally participate in matches that have nothing to do with Artifacts. We are also prohibited from using Artifacts during training. Grover has tried several times to create Artifacts for our Imperial Class students, but he was always rejected. One teacher even said to his face, 'Artifacts are useless; personal strength is the only thing that matters,' which infuriated him. Another student accepted his Artifact but then sold it for a high price in credits."
"Ever since then, he hasn't been very friendly toward people from the Imperial Class."
Qiao Sang was left speechless, hesitantly asking, "So, should I still have him make my Artifact?"
"Did he refuse you?" Migala looked at her and smiled. "The more he is rejected, the more he wants to prove himself. Don't worry, he will make your Artifact carefully and seriously."
Qiao Sang felt reassured but then thought of something and asked, "I thought Teacher Grover seemed to like me at first, but why did he suddenly seem unfriendly?"
"That's because your Artifact request was too simple", Migala explained. "Even students from the Artifact Academy could meet your requirements."
She paused and added, "But he does think highly of you. He must have heard about your achievements."
Laughing, she continued, "I didn't expect him to take on your Artifact project. I thought he wouldn't help anyone from the Imperial Class anymore."
Wait a minute, you didn't say that earlier... Qiao Sang grumbled internally and then asked, "If Imperial Class students don't use Artifacts during training, is it appropriate for me to use one?"
Migala smiled, "You're still far from the Interstellar Cup."
Meaning it was too early to worry about that.
Qiao Sang: "..."
...
The sky was a clear blue, and the back garden looked like something out of a fairy tale.
The Familiar pavilion.
From a distance, a lady with half-gray hair, fair skin, and noticeable wrinkles could be seen sitting inside.
"The Dean is in there, go ahead", Migala said.
"Not together?" Qiao Sang asked.
Migala replied, "The Dean wants to see you, not me."
With that, she vanished into thin air.
Qiao Sang: "..."
Qiao Sang took a deep breath, straightened her posture, and walked toward the pavilion. She bowed respectfully and said, "Hello, Dean."
"Sit down", Dean Theresa gestured to the tea in front of her. "Have a taste; I prepared it specially for you."
Qiao Sang was pleasantly surprised. She placed the Beast Companion Egg on the round table and picked up the teacup, taking a sip.
Dean Theresa glanced at the Beast Companion Egg and smiled.
"This must be the Thunder Dragon egg, right?"
"Yes." Qiao Sang nodded.
Dean Theresa said, "Our school has a research project that can detect whether a familiar is pure-blooded while it's still in the egg. You can bring the Thunder Dragon egg for testing."
Qiao Sang hesitated, "Will this harm the Beast Companion Egg?"
"It’s just a scan with equipment; there won’t be any damage", Dean Theresa replied.
This research is great. I thought the school only had equipment to detect how long it would take for a familiar to hatch... Qiao Sang reflected.
"However, each test costs 100 credits", Dean Theresa added.
Qiao Sang immediately became serious, "Actually, whether the Thunder Dragon is pure-blooded isn’t important to me. What matters is that it hatches smoothly."
As soon as she finished speaking, the Thunder Dragon egg gave a barely perceptible tremor.
The movement was so slight, but it was clear to both Dean Theresa and Qiao Sang.
"Is it about to hatch?" Qiao Sang’s attention was instantly drawn, and she exclaimed in surprise.
"Dragon Companion eggs take a long time to hatch. It might have heard our voices and responded", Dean Theresa explained.
Qiao Sang felt curious, "Can familiars hear and understand our voices while they’re still in the egg?"
"That depends on the species' intelligence and innate bloodline abilities", Dean Theresa patiently explained, "Some familiars can understand human conversations or sense the good or evil of the outside world while still in the egg. If they don’t like what they sense, they might instinctively reject the first person they see after hatching. Others don’t know anything and naturally form a bond with the first living being they see after hatching."
Qiao Sang couldn’t help but think of Treasure Seeker when it first hatched from its egg.
"Xunxun..."
At the same time, Treasure Seeker couldn’t resist emerging, peering curiously at the Beast Companion Egg through the protective enclosure.
Qiao Sang collected her thoughts and returned to the main topic, "Dean, did you call me here for something specific?"
"I heard you haven’t exchanged any items yet", Dean Theresa asked, "Are you dissatisfied with the items in the credits section?"
"No", Qiao Sang replied, "The exchange qualification is too valuable. I want to exchange for something that’s the best fit for me. All the items in the Points Exchange are good, but none of them are the best for me right now."
Dean Theresa asked, "What kind of item are you looking for?"
Qiao Sang thought for a moment, "Ideally, something that can detect a familiar’s next-stage artifacts, even if it’s a new form that hasn’t evolved yet."
Dean Theresa fell silent.
After a few seconds, she said, "The future can be predicted, but the unknown is hard to foresee. I think you should consider exchanging for an item with a different function."
Qiao Sang asked, "Is there anything that can bring the dead back to life or quickly and safely boost a person’s brain domain to 59%?"
Dean Theresa couldn’t help but pinch her teacup but maintained her composed demeanor, "No."
Qiao Sang’s face showed disappointment, "Then I’ll wait and see if something suitable appears in the future."
Pausing, she asked, "Dean, did you call me here just to discuss this?"
"A week from now, the energy bath will be open, and I’ve applied for a slot for you", Dean Theresa said, "When the time comes, let Steel Sword Falcon enter. Since it has already undergone temporary evolution, it can absorb the energy without side effects and break through to the next stage of evolution."
Qiao Sang’s first thought was: Damn, an energy bath with the same function as the Supernest’s Energy Pool?
Her second thought was: My credits! I bought those two bottles of Energy Accelerator too early!
She controlled her facial expression and asked, "How many credits does it cost?"
Theresa Dean glanced at her. "Free."
Qiao Sang immediately offered her flattery. "Dean, you're so generous!"
Theresa Dean smiled. "You bonded with a legendary familiar in Dragon Nation and even became a B-Class Beastmaster in one go. The energy bath merely helped shorten the time it takes to cultivate your familiar. Imperial Class students can get an energy bath if they make a significant contribution."
Qiao Sang once again flattered her. "That's all thanks to Dean for helping me with the application."
Theresa Dean smiled. "How about Clear Hidden Sprite? I haven't seen your legendary familiar yet."
Qiao Sang immediately called out. "Qingbao."
"Qingqing." A breeze blew in from outside the pavilion, transforming into Qingbao.
Theresa Dean's eyes lit up, and she couldn't resist reaching out to pet Qingbao.
Qingbao obediently allowed her to pet her, remaining still.
After Theresa Dean was done, she smiled. "I have nothing else to discuss."
Meaning, you can leave now.
Qiao Sang didn't move, looking at her as if she wanted to say something but held back.
"Do you have something to ask?" Theresa Dean asked.
Qiao Sang finally said, "Dean, can you give me some credits?"
Theresa Dean looked at her. "Not enough credits?"
No, Teacher Mikara asked me to come to you for it... Qiao Sang's conscience wouldn't let her betray Mikara, so she said, "How could credits ever be enough?"
Theresa Dean thought for a moment. "You became a B-Class Beastmaster at 17, breaking the record for the youngest B-Class Beastmaster. Here, take ten thousand credits."
Qiao Sang: "!!!"
"Dean, you're so generous!"
...
At one in the afternoon.
Qiao Sang hummed a tune, feeling elated as she arrived at the Cultivation Chamber where Teacher Flauda was, forming a stark contrast with the worried Treasure Seeker beside her.
Flauda, seeing Qiao Sang, smiled. "You seem to be in a great mood."
"Met the great Theresa Dean this morning and had a friendly chat", Qiao Sang said.
Theresa Dean... Flauda was initially taken aback, then smiled. "I can tell you had a pleasant conversation."
He then looked at the worried Treasure Seeker. "Ghost Ring King seems to be in a bad mood. What's going on?"
"Xunxun..."
Treasure Seeker wore an expression of "too much to explain."
Qiao Sang immediately reined in her smile. "It's because of the Ghost Ring King that's wanted. Today, quite a few people at school mistook it for the real one."
She didn't mention that after returning home from Dean's place this morning, she and Treasure Seeker had tried to find the Cloak Totem but found nothing.
"That's not difficult. Just catch the wanted Ghost Ring King", Flauda said.
Qiao Sang sighed. "It's not that simple."
"Xunxun..." Treasure Seeker sighed in unison.
Flauda thought for a moment. "Do you have any credits on hand?"
Qiao Sang nodded. "Yes."
"Go to the Journalism Academy; they have the best information channels. Or find a Beastmaster from the Mechanical Academy who has a Neurocrack to help you."
Qiao Sang was taken aback. "Neurocrack?"
"It's a Mechanical Familiar that can travel through various networks", Flauda explained, then added, "Didn't a Mechanical Familiar deliver your Admission Letter through a computer screen?"
Qiao Sang nodded. "Yes."
"That familiar is called Wheel Cel, the Imperial Rank form of Neurocrack", Flauda said.
