Chapter 1031: The Fifth...Emperor?
Chapter 1031: The Fifth...Emperor?
"Captain, there's a Pirate Ship ahead! The flag says it's the [Beasts Pirates]!"
A pirate assigned to the crow's nest shouted down.
"Kaido's crew?"
Montblanc smirked, smashing his fists together with a loud clang. His grin widened. "Captain, let's give them a little welcome gift!"
Elmira curled his lips, then pulled out the gun strapped to his waist and began polishing it idly.
Sverre unsheathed the dagger strapped to his leg, letting the metallic gleam of its reflection dance across his eyes.
The three of them looked utterly confident.
It wasn't just William who brimmed with confidence—his three core officers were just as cocky!
Montblanc was no slouch. As the combat captain of this pirate crew, he was a martial artist, a master of fist techniques, and even a chef. His mastery of Armored Haki ran deep, and he'd never lost a fight against any New World pirate.
Sverre, the intelligence captain, was a spy, scout, undercover agent, and intelligence expert, not to mention a painter. His Observation Haki was second to none, his speed was blinding, and his assassination skills were flawless. He'd infiltrated enemy crews countless times without ever getting caught.
Elmira might have been slightly weaker in direct combat, but as a sniper, gunslinger, navigator, and the ship's chief of staff, he was the strategic mind behind countless operations.
They had brains, intelligence, and overwhelming military power. Together, they'd annihilated countless pirate crews. And above them all stood William, even stronger than the rest.
There was nothing that could stop them—nothing at all!
This confidence even infected Elmira, the ship's second-most cautious member and usually a voice of calm reason.
So what if it was a ship from the Beasts Pirates? Just another group of lowlifes—no, even if one of the [Triad Calamities] was aboard, they still wouldn't be afraid.
William fixed his eyes on the Grand Line ahead, watching the distant silhouette of the enemy ship take shape. A confident chuckle escaped him. "Then let's send them a greeting first!"
He extended his arm, and in an instant, it transformed into steam, surging forward like a phantom limb plunging into the sea.
Pirates aboard nearby ships watched the scene unfold, then burst into grins.
"Oh! Here it comes—the 'greeting' move Captain always uses!"
They'd seen this countless times before. Many pirate ships couldn't even survive the first "greeting" from their Captain.
William's steam hand plunged into the ocean, pausing momentarily before a violent reaction erupted from the seawater. Bubbles roared to life, boiling violently and spreading forward like a tidal wave.
William's eyes sharpened. "Boil Sea!"
Robin, peering through her telescope, suddenly froze. The sea surface had erupted into furious boiling. "Watch out!!" she shouted, startled.
Boom!!
As soon as she spoke, a shockwave rocked the ship. Giant pillars of white steam erupted around them, piercing through the center of the deck and blasting skyward.
"The ship's breaking!!"
Franky leaped from the mast first. "Hurry, start repairs—what the hell is happening?!"
"So hot!!"
Usopp and Chopper screamed in unison. Chopper tumbled off Usopp's head, his tongue lolling as he ran in circles. "This is insane! My fur's gonna melt off!"
The steam pillars spread like wildfire, engulfing the entire ship in scalding vapor.
"Whoaah! It's so hot my meat's gonna liquefy!"
Brook collapsed dramatically onto the deck like a pile of noodles, his skull grinning toward the enemy ship's silhouette. "Wohoho! My body's just bones anyway, so I guess I don't have any meat to worry about—yohohohohoho!!"
"Don't just lie there laughing!!"
Nami kicked Brook upright, her eyes wide with panic. "We don't have time for this—get to the repairs!! Jinbei, help us out!!"
Jinbei narrowed his eyes and leapt from the helm. He plunged his arm into the steaming pillar on the deck, only to recoil instantly. "As expected... It's steam, and scalding hot at that!"
Twisting his wrist, he slapped forward.
"Fishman Karate!"
The moisture within the steam twisted under his hand, condensing into droplets that he flung outward like bullets, scattering the steam away.
"Just who is this? Who among Kaido's ranks could pull off something this advanced?" Jinbei scanned the mist, eyes narrowing.
"This is getting interesting... The sake got warmed up—guess I'll have to settle for chilled drinks later."
Zoro set down his sake bottle, leaping to his feet in one fluid motion. He drew both swords at his waist—one was Sanbei Onimaru, and the other, despite its purple hilt and scabbard adorned with floral patterns, was none other than the famed Quick Blade Twenty-One: the Yokai Blade 'Yamato'!
Half a year had passed, and everyone had grown stronger. They'd even clashed once with Kaido's and Charlotte Big Mom's forces. Zoro's previous blade, Huazhou, had shattered in that battle. Fortunately, a chance encounter with Komurasaki had gifted him this legendary yokai blade that absorbed and released its wielder's Haki autonomously.
With both blades in hand, Zoro crouched low, then exploded into action. His feet slammed against the deck, launching him skyward as he spun his body. The blades carved pressure currents in circular arcs.
"Dual Swords!"
Whoosh!!
The pressure waves from his blindingly fast slashes spread like shockwaves, scattering the steam pillars in an instant. The mist vanished without a trace.
Thud.
Zoro landed lightly, arms outstretched with blades still drawn. He lifted his head toward the enemy ship, a predatory grin spreading across his face.
"Awesome, Zoro!" Usopp gave him a thumbs-up.
The oppressive heat vanished as the steam cleared.
"Zoro!" Chopper blinked, mimicking Usopp by raising his hoof.
Sanji watched the approaching pirate fleet, his voice darkening. "Hey... this doesn't feel good, moss head. That aura... it's strong."
"I know."
Zoro's voice was grim. "They're serious opponents."
"Hehehe!" Luffy tugged his straw hat lower, his grin widening.
As the ships closed the distance, they finally spotted the four figures standing at the bow of the enemy flagship.
A refined man with a gun, his expression calm and calculating.
A silent figure gripping a dagger, his demeanor icy.
A broad-shouldered brute standing on the railing, radiating rugged power.
And the most confident among them—dressed like a gentleman with a white necktie around his collar—watching them with absolute self-assurance.
And overwhelming strength!
But they were strangers. The Straw Hats had been holed up in Wano for six months, isolated from the world. They knew nothing of their opponents—and frankly, didn't care.
On William's side, Montblanc had also caught sight of the enemy crew. His eyes locked onto the straw-hatted figure at their bow, his face momentarily stunned.
"Hey... isn't that the guy—"
"Luffy." Elmira's finger tightened on his trigger, eyes narrowing. "What's he doing here? Did he defect to Kaido?"
Sverre tilted his head, intrigued.
"Luffy?"
William stared at the young man with the ever-present grin, his voice heavy with realization. "The Fifth Emperor?"
