Chapter 1030: The Swelling William
Chapter 1030: The Swelling William
As Shanks departed, a major event unfolded in Wano Country.
Half a year had passed since Kuro's battle against Luffy in Wano Country alongside Kaido and Charlotte·Big Mom, which allowed Luffy's crew to escape.
During these six months, Luffy, Eustass Kid, and Law formed temporary alliances. Sometimes they joined forces to fight off pirate crews, while at other times they dispersed and regrouped like mice scurrying through Wano Country's terrain.
However, their elusive tactics inspired a concentrated group of samurais willing to resist the occupying forces, waiting for the right moment to strike.
On this day, Luffy diverted the Beasts Pirates' pursuers and found a ship wandering Wano Country's Inland Sea.
The Oni's Island in Inland Sea had been destroyed six months prior, forcing Kaido and Charlotte·Big Mom to station themselves in Flower Capital - the Beasts Pirates' main base. Navigating Inland Sea now posed minimal resistance.
From a commandeered ship sailing the Grand Line, Luffy sat at the bow with arms spread wide, flashing his perfect teeth. "Whoaaa! We're finally sailing again!!"
Nami, perpetually on edge, shouted from behind, "Luffy! Don't shout so loudly! What if someone hears us?!"
"Why not? We'll just beat them up anyway." Luffy grinned.
"That's right."
Zoro, sipping sake nearby, added, "Just beat them up."
Sanji, cigarette dangling from his mouth, nodded. "I agree with Moss Head for once."
Usopp protested vehemently, "No way no way! You guys don't understand how scary this is! What about the rest of us?!"
Chopper popped up from Usopp's head, gripping his hair as he cried, "We're really scared too!"
"Hahaha! Leave the protecting to me, old man!" Jinbei chuckled at the helm.
"Jinbei, aren't you going to scold them too? This is seriously dangerous!" Nami shouted.
"Don't worry, Nami-san! I'll protect you with my life!"
Sanji dramatically slid on one knee to Nami's feet, arms wide with hearts in his eyes. "Of course, I'll protect you too, Robin-chwan!"
"Yohohoho! Time to follow the captain's lead!"
Brook approached, hollow eye sockets fixed on Nami as he solemnly asked, "To relieve tension, may I see your panties again?"
"They've never seen them in the first place!"
A throbbing vein on Nami's forehead, she kicked Brook's skull across the deck before sighing in exasperation. "Forget it. These guys are hopeless."
Suddenly, Franky peered down from above. "Uh-oh! Looks like ships ahead!"
"Where? Unforgivable! Is it Kaido and Big Mom?!"
Usopp scrambled to Franky's position, telescope in hand. After a brief observation, he reported, "Doesn't seem like it. The flags are unfamiliar."
"Unfamiliar flags?"
Nami snatched the telescope from Usopp, scanning ahead. Several pirate ships sailed in formation like geese, led by a massive flagship bearing a unique flag - a skeletal skull wearing a captain's hat pierced by two cutlasses through its jaw, radiating wickedness and Haki.
"What kind of pirate flag is this? I don't recognize it." Nami turned to Robin for help.
Robin accepted the telescope, observing the design with a slight frown. "I'm sorry, but I don't recognize this crew either. It doesn't seem particularly famous."
"If even you don't know, they must truly be unknown." Nami relaxed. Unknown meant weak.
Their crew could handle this easily.
Meanwhile, several ships navigated the Grand Line's distant waters.
Montblanc stood on the deck edge, arms crossed. "So this is Wano Country? Quite the challenge."
"Definitely challenging climbing that waterfall. Almost like reaching Skypiea. Good thing we have William", Elmira, ever the refined gentleman, remarked.
Sverre silently nodded in agreement.
From the deck, a figure strode forward to the bow, fixing his gaze on the Grand Line. "Since we've arrived in Wano Country, let's explore properly. I've heard Kaido and Charlotte·Big Mom have allied here. Their goal is the One Piece position - perhaps we'll uncover some secrets."
This man was none other than 'White Admiral' Sam William.
After an arduous journey, he finally reached the New World.
Unlike the cautious, timid William of the past, this new William radiated confidence. His every movement exuded an aura of "Old Man Worldwide Invincible."
It couldn't be helped - New World pirates simply weren't up to par. The East Blue's William was just too strong.
After defeating Crocodile, William's confidence skyrocketed. Considering Kuro's mere posturing, he boldly navigated from the Grand Line's starting point, defeating all who opposed him. Pirates worth one or two billion bounty points fell like chickens before his Logia abilities, exceptional swordsmanship, and Conqueror's Haki - carrying him from Fishman Island into the New World.
Upon reaching the New World, his confidence swelled to unprecedented levels.
Every New World pirate fell before him!
Except for Four Emperors' subordinates whose influence protected them, he challenged every pirate along his route. Pirates bearing bounties of four, six, or eight hundred million, despite their strength, ultimately succumbed to William. None could touch his Logia form, and his swordsmanship remained unmatched.
Gradually, William gained notoriety in the New World. Other pirates retreated at the sight of his flag.
Though his own bounty remained stagnant at one billion, he wasn't concerned. The World Government and Navy couldn't reach this far into the New World. Time would eventually increase his bounty.
His title of 'White Admiral' had already become famous among Daimyos in the New World. Some considered him a Great Pirate.
This realization shifted William's plans. Before establishing a base in the New World, he wanted to test his combat prowess - discover his true limits.
Ultimately, he chose Wano Country - a secluded yet powerful nation in the New World.
A mere waterfall couldn't stop William. Transforming into steam to lift his ship over obstacles brought them to Inland Sea.
Even facing the Four Emperors, his Logia abilities ensured escape if needed.
Not for any special reason - simply because he was strong.
