Chapter 103: Some Things Only Make Sense Before Kuso
Chapter 103: Some Things Only Make Sense Before Kuso
"Let me get this straight. This young man saved you by eating one of Kuso's fingers, and then after the crisis was over, he fought and won against Kuso's will, regaining his sense of self. Is that what you're saying?"
Gojo Satoru thought for a moment and then shrugged at Bochou Megumi. "This sounds as ridiculous as Naruto defeating the Nine-Tails during his time at the Ninja Academy. Maybe you should tell the higher-ups and see if they believe you?"
While it was somewhat plausible that someone could survive the curse from Kuso's finger, it was a tall tale to claim victory in a mental battle against the King of Curses.
Although Yuji Itadori had seemingly returned to normal, no one knew when Kuso might resurface. The safest course of action would be to eliminate him on the spot.
If another Curse User had handled the situation, the battle would have ended there. But it was precisely because of this complexity that Gojo Satoru was called in.
"Anyway, think of something. I owe him a life."
Megumi rubbed his forehead, his tone a bit strained.
He couldn't bring himself to execute someone who had saved his life. Besides, Gojo Satoru had saved many anomalies before, so one more wouldn't make a difference.
"Sure, it's rare for a student to ask for something like this. I can handle it, but there's someone else here, too."
Gojo Satoru gestured with his finger, drawing everyone's attention to Luk.
Megumi's eyes flickered with curiosity as he looked at the man in tattered clothes. He had been wondering about him for a while.
"Nice to meet you. I'm the new assistant teacher, Fujiwara Luk. Just call me Assistant Teacher Luk."
Luk smiled and greeted his students.
"Usually, you use the last name followed by the title, right?"
Megumi, though puzzled by the man's appearance, didn't dwell on it and politely addressed him as "Teacher."
"Hello, Teacher Luk. What were you doing to end up dressed like that?"
Luk's eyes widened in mock surprise. "What? How did you know I just fought and defeated a high-level curse spirit that could expand its domain?"
Megumi was speechless.
Another eccentric teacher had joined their ranks.
However, a curse spirit that could expand its domain wasn't something trivial. Its appearance indicated a significant event.
"Did it get away?"
Gojo Satoru's gaze shifted to Luk, his tone more serious than usual.
Luk patted his stomach and smiled dreamily. "No, I removed it with the ginger stir-fry method."
"Ginger stir-fry method?" Megumi was confused.
"I know this one. In the manga 'Chainsaw Man,' the main character Denji uses this method to defeat the boss, Makima."
Gojo Satoru raised his hand, confident and proud.
"Since Makima could infinitely resurrect from malicious attacks, Denji, full of love, turned her into ginger stir-fry and ate her. Speaking of which, eating curse spirits, are you that desperate?"
"Nice one, Kakashi, you really know your stuff!"
Luk gave him a thumbs-up. It was always fun when someone understood the references.
"It's Gojo Satoru!"
"Got it, Kunwu."
"Kunwo? What kind of name is that? Even though I don't understand, it feels like a challenge. If you weren't on our side, I'd use my ultimate move on you."
"Um..."
Interrupting their banter was Yuji Itadori, who had been ignored for a while.
"To be honest, I'm a bit cold and would like to put on some clothes. And shouldn't we do something about Megumi's condition? We should go to the hospital."
He still didn't fully understand his situation but offered his suggestion.
"Oh, sorry, sorry. I forgot the main issue. So, Luk, what's your decision?"
Gojo Satoru clasped his hands together, almost pleading. "It's a request from a cute student. You wouldn't refuse, would you?"
"I'm the kind of person who doesn't do homework, so I always hope the teacher won't check it."
Luk turned around. "Megumi, summon your spirit dogs."
Without understanding why, Megumi obediently summoned a black and a white dog. The next second, he saw the new teacher hugging the dogs with a look of pure enjoyment.
"Smooth, shiny fur, no dirt on them as spirit animals. They're truly top-notch."
Luk buried his face in the dogs' fur, his hands starting to rub them uncontrollably. Rubbing dogs was his only way to relieve stress during work; he didn't like cats because they were too delicate.
The dogs, used to being summoned only for battles and thus only having a high tolerance for pain, couldn't resist the gentle touch. They whined softly, enjoying the attention.
They looked to their master, Megumi, for help, but the young man, feeling guilty, turned away. To save his savior's life, he had to let his spirit animals be used in this way.
Soon, the dogs were so relaxed that they lay on their backs, tongues out, purring and cooing, completely forgetting their master.
"Alright, I'll handle this."
Seeing Luk immersed in petting the dogs, Gojo Satoru stretched and addressed Yuji Itadori.
"Can you control your body now?"
To ensure Yuji's stability as a container and gauge the strength of the King of Curses, Gojo needed to know how to handle the situation.
"Should be... fine."
Yuji Itadori replied. Despite the high-level curse, he could indeed act according to his will.
"Ten seconds. Give your body to Kuso, then take it back after ten seconds."
Seeing Yuji's hesitation, Gojo smiled. "Don't worry, I'm the strongest."
Inspired by the confidence in those words, Tiger Stick closed his eyes, relaxed his body, and relinquished control. A few seconds later, the black markings and intense curse aura reappeared.
An invisible, sharp slash cut toward Gojo Satoru, missing its target and instead slicing off a corner of a nearby school building. The heavy structure crashed to the ground, sending dust and debris flying.
Sukuna's technique is the "Slash," which comes in two forms: the basic "Release" and the more powerful "Octave," which can be fatal with a single strike. However, unless using Domain Expansion, the user must physically touch the target to release it.
The gap between the lowest and highest levels of this technique is vast, and whether it can cut through something depends entirely on the user's ability. It's a simple yet brutally effective technique.
Sukuna, with a twisted smile, charged at Gojo Satoru without any intention of communication. Although his curse energy was only one-twentieth of his peak, it still exceeded that of a Grade 1 Curse Spirit. Combined with his formidable combat awareness and skills, he was far from weak among the Special Grade Curse Spirits.
The commotion caught the attention of a few nearby individuals. Yuji Itadori quickly retreated, trying to call his spirit familiar for protection. However, he saw the dogs, who had been enjoying themselves, suddenly wake up, baring their teeth to protect Luk.
"Good dogs, good dogs."
Luk petted the jade dogs, feeling his heart soften.
Yuji Itadori: "..."
Seeing this, he felt a strange discomfort.
Gojo Satoru, who was being attacked, casually dodged Sukuna's punches and kicks. With only a fraction of the curse energy needed for Domain Expansion, Sukuna was like a toy to him.
"Really, curse users are such a nuisance, no matter the era."
Sukuna, regaining his composure, began circling Gojo Satoru, trying to find a weakness. However, the Six Eyes provided a comprehensive, 360-degree view, and when Sukuna attacked from behind, Gojo Satoru grabbed his arm and slammed him into the ground.
Sukuna, spitting blood, curled his lips into a smile and delivered a slash so precise that it could kill an ordinary curse user.
"Octave"!
The smile froze as Gojo Satoru instantly reacted, but instead of dodging, he extended his finger, caressing the slash as if in a tender embrace.
Something strange happened. The slash, like sinking into quicksand, slowed down, and despite being within reach, it seemed to be an unattainable distance.
This was Gojo Satoru's "Unlimited," a technique that brought the paradox of Achilles and the Tortoise into reality, allowing him to manipulate matter at the atomic level and control space.
"This distance can be infinitely reduced."
The Unlimited technique can realize this concept in a specific area of reality, making any attack on Gojo Satoru like the tortoise chasing Achilles, never catching up.
This technique requires extremely precise curse energy control, which is why only those with the Six Eyes can use it. Others, even if they inherit the technique, cannot.
"Bang!"
The earlier part of the slash continued to slow, while the latter part resumed its original speed. The two forces collided and shattered, the resulting energy being crushed and dissipated by the curse energy.
"Hmm, that's about the situation, I guess."
Gojo Satoru, chin in hand, appeared nonchalant.
Sukuna glared coldly at Gojo Satoru, feeling the pressure but unable to think of a way to counter the move. His mind began to feel dizzy again.
"Damn it, I'm being suppressed again. What's wrong with this kid?"
The King of Curses, unwilling to accept defeat, glared at Gojo Satoru before losing consciousness.
The eyes and mouth on his cheek closed, and the black markings retreated back into Tiger Stick's body. Tiger Stick's body wobbled, but he managed to stand straight, his expression changing from fierce to dazed.
"Oh, you really did go back."
Gojo Satoru approached and gently tapped Tiger Stick's forehead, causing him to faint from the curse energy affecting his brain.
"Gojo-sensei!"
Yuji Itadori was a bit excited.
"Don't worry, I just put him to sleep. If he wakes up and maintains his self-awareness, he'll be fine."
Gojo Satoru sighed, deciding to take on this burden for his student. After all, he had defied the upper echelons more than once.
With a positive turn of events, Yuji Itadori finally breathed a sigh of relief. He walked over to Luk, who was still petting the dogs.
"Mr. Luk, I need to reclaim my spirit familiar."
"Name your price. I want these two dogs."
Luk, visibly reluctant, clung to the spirit familiar, which also clung to him, licking his hand in support. They had found joy here that they never experienced with Yuji Itadori.
"The jade dogs are part of the 'Ten Shadows' technique. They can't be given away!"
And he didn't want to give them away.
"You can keep them out, maintaining the technique as a form of training."
What gave you the right to name my spirit familiars, and why such ugly names?
Maintaining the technique indefinitely, are you serious?
Yuji Itadori, frowning, shook his head. "I refuse."
"Then I'll have to report you."
Luk's expression changed instantly, from a laid-back office worker to a mafia boss.
Gojo Satoru leaned in, curious. "What are you going to report?"
"Yuji Itadori and the Sukuna vessel are in cahoots, defiling the curse world. They must be punished!"
The monthly vote rankings finally returned to normal.
While it doesn't matter much to a new author like me, as a long-time reader, I prefer the rankings to have more genuine content.
