Chapter 103: S.H.I.E.L.D. Strikes Again (Fourth Update)
Chapter 103: S.H.I.E.L.D. Strikes Again (Fourth Update)
"Kid, I hear you've been getting pretty cocky lately?"
Jerry hurried out of the school gates, planning to find a deserted alley to cast a Disguise Charm and then ride his flying broom back home. However, a group of seven or eight teenagers, dressed in a very hip-hop style, blocked his path.
"Here we go again, why do I keep running into these guys everywhere!"
Seeing that they were clearly older students, Jerry couldn't help but twitch his lips.
Fame can be a double-edged sword. If you stand out too much in school, especially if you're popular with the girls and don't have many friends, some envious jerks will soon come after you, using their numbers and strength to humiliate you.
They think it makes them look cool and powerful, and that it will attract the girls' attention, but they don't realize the harm they're causing.
Especially when they do this often, they might forget about it after a while, but the person they publicly bully will carry the psychological scars for a lifetime.
The world is so unfair. The bullies always forget quickly, while the victims have to live with the pain forever.
"Come on, you guys, follow me!"
Jerry waved at the teenagers and then walked into a nearby secluded alley.
The seven or eight teenagers hesitated for a moment but followed him.
At this moment, a tall boy with an anxious look on his face, who was part of the crowd, couldn't help but shake his head.
He wasn't pitying Jerry; he was pitying those boys who followed.
Why?
Because he had been in the same elementary school as Jerry and knew firsthand how powerful Jerry's fists were.
He still couldn't forget the terror of being pinned to the ground and trampled by Jerry, who was shirtless and bulging with muscles.
He had thought that coming to a middle school so far away would help him avoid this monster, but he saw Jerry's name in the school newspaper on the second day of school.
At that moment, he made up his mind to be a good student and survive middle school.
Sure enough,
Not long after the seven boys followed the monster into the alley, screams of terror echoed out.
"Ah, help! Mom, Dad, God, Virgin Mary, I'll never do it again!"
"Outside is dangerous, I'm just looking out for you guys!"
Jerry clapped his hands, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and walked out of the alley, leaving the seven boys lying on the ground, crying and sniffling.
As he exited the alley, he even gave a friendly smile to the classmates watching from the school gates before turning and walking away slowly.
Having once been a martial arts practitioner, albeit an amateur, Jerry had practiced for several years in elementary school and had long mastered the technique of inflicting excruciating pain without leaving any visible marks.
Especially his grappling skills, which were his forte.
In elementary school, there had been incidents where classmates reported to the teacher that Jerry had beaten them up.
But on one side was the well-known, exemplary student Jerry, and on the other side were mischievous students with no visible injuries. The teacher naturally had their own judgment.
Sometimes, Jerry would even give himself minor injuries and file a false report first, ensuring that the mischievous troublemakers not only got a beating but also faced a scolding from their parents.
A small interlude,
but it didn't affect Jerry's daily routine.
He found another deserted alley, cast a Disguise Charm, and rode his broom back to his neighborhood. Then, he waited at the Elsa School bus stop for Elsa to finish school.
After picking up Elsa and greeting his soon-to-be stepmother Belle, he went home to cook dinner.
At midnight, he rode his flying broom to the sky above Hell's Kitchen once again.
The attack from yesterday hadn't affected him at all. In fact, he hoped it would happen more often. That way, not only would the Little Red Stars earn more, but he could also practice the Obliviate and False Memory Charm.
However, it was clear that such good fortune didn't come often.
What made Jerry somewhat uncomfortable was that today, the law and order in Hell's Kitchen were noticeably better than yesterday. It seemed as though the criminals had received some kind of order to lay low.
Of course, it might also be the calm before the storm.
At three in the afternoon, Jerry, who hadn't earned many Little Red Stars, rode his flying broom back with a frown.
While he was in the air, looking for a suitable alley to land and hide, a strange sound suddenly came from the west.
About five or six hundred meters away, a vintage red car, seemingly propelled by some rocket-like devices, was flying towards him at high speed.
As it got closer, Jerry could see that there were two people in the car, one of whom was someone he recognized.
The driver was a middle-aged man with a receding hairline, and sitting in the passenger seat was Maria Hill, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent he had met before.
"Good evening, wizard lady, do you have a moment to talk?"
Agent Hill, seeing Jerry on his broom, waved and shouted loudly.
Jerry thought for a moment and didn't refuse, giving her a thumbs-up.
So, the red car led the way, and Jerry followed behind on his flying broom.
However, to be on the safe side, he quietly used a Summoning Charm to retrieve a bottle of Polyjuice Potion from his Box. Under the cover of his wizard robe, he gulped it down.
Hermione the wizard returned.
Actually, with his wide wizard robe, wizard hat, and a mask that only revealed his eyes, he would have been fine even without the transformation.
But just to be safe, he drank the Polyjuice Potion. After all, he still had three bottles, and it would be a waste to leave them unused.
After all, Jerry was still a bit wary of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
Especially since a colleague had once told him that, apart from the director and a few core agents, most of S.H.I.E.L.D. weren't exactly good people.
In fact, because Jerry hadn't watched any other Marvel movies, he didn't have much emotional investment when he watched The Avengers. He just thought the special effects were impressive and the plot was creative, and he hadn't given it much more thought after that.
However, he had a colleague who was a Marvel fan. This colleague had a habit of sharing and strongly recommending any good movies or TV shows he watched.
He took the idea of "sharing joy with others" to the extreme.
So, after Jerry watched Avengers: Infinity War with his colleague, whenever a sequel came out, his colleague would come to him to chat.
He would talk about how S.H.I.E.L.D. was actually Hydra, how Captain America and Iron Man fought, how Asgard was destroyed, and how Thanos snapped his fingers and destroyed half the universe.
He would always urge Jerry to go see the movies in the theater.
But Jerry felt that he didn't know much about the heroes in the movies, so there was no point in watching the sequels. Besides, going to the cinema alone without a girlfriend seemed a bit strange.
So, he ended up with a vague and superficial understanding of the Marvel heroes and some of the major events in the series.
In short, he was in a state of confusion and partial knowledge.
