Chapter 103: Hagrid and Professor Oren
Chapter 103: Hagrid and Professor Oren
The final exam was on History of Magic, which was destined to be the most tedious hour of them all.
Kyle only took twenty minutes to finish writing about the Werewolf Code of Conduct from 1637 and the life of Eccentric Yuri.
When Professor Binns' ghost instructed them to put down their quills and roll up their parchment, all the students couldn't help but cheer.
The exam was over, which meant they could relax and play for an entire week until the exam results were announced.
"It was much easier than I thought," Michael said confidently as they walked out into the sunny field with the crowd. "I just saw Eccentric Yuri a few days ago. He graduated from Gryffindor, so I'm sure I got it right."
"Gryffindor..." Ryan paused, then blurted out, "Isn't he from Slytherin?"
"What a shame," Michael lamented. "I'm certain I'm not mistaken. It's definitely Gryffindor."
"Merlin's beard..." Ryan agonized, tugging at his hair. "If I had known, I wouldn't have memorized that wizard who invented the automated cauldron."
Michael patted him on the shoulder reassuringly, "It's okay, it's just a mistake about the house. It won't cost you many points."
The two roommates' affectionate interaction deeply moved Kyle, and this pure camaraderie could be considered one of the most precious treasures in everyone's life.
To further their relationship, Kyle quietly walked over and whispered in their ears, "Actually... Eccentric Yuri graduated from Ravenclaw."
Michael looked up, his face full of confusion.
"It's true," Kyle smiled, "It's written very clearly in the third line of the second chapter, or you can ask the Ravenclaws. They shouldn't get it wrong."
Michael turned stiffly and found a group of Ravenclaws in the crowd... and he did ask them.
A minute later, Michael squatted next to Ryan, also tugging at his hair.
"It's okay," Kyle patted his shoulder, "It's just a mistake about the house. It won't cost you many points."
After bidding farewell to his two reclusive roommates, Kyle leisurely walked downhill towards the lake.
There, a large squid lay in the warm shallow water, soaking up the sun, while Fred and George gently fiddled with its tentacles.
Kyle couldn't help but swallow his saliva. If those huge squid tentacles were grilled on an iron plate and sprinkled with cumin and chili powder... it would be absolutely delightful to eat.
"Glug..."
No, he couldn't look anymore.
Kyle shook his head and shifted his gaze to the side.
Not far away, Conna sat under a tree, hugging her knees, staring blankly at Pochi, who was sunbathing on the grass. However, she didn't seem to be in high spirits, and there was no trace of joy on her face after the exam.
"What's wrong, did you not do well on the exam?" Kyle asked.
Conna was startled but shook her head after regaining her composure. "No, I was just thinking about something else."
She fiddled with Pochi's tail with her fingers and asked softly, "After the exams, isn't this term almost over?"
"There are still seven days left," Kyle sat down beside her and said, "We have to wait for the exam results before we can take a break. By September, we'll be in our second year."
Conna muttered, "Seven days..."
"What are you two talking about?"
The Weasley brothers walked over, and Fred, seeing Conna's gloomy expression, said with a smile, "Cheer up. We won't know how bad we did until a week later. There's no need to worry about it now."
"That's right," George said. "This is the happiest time of the year. No exams, no nagging, and no homework. What could be better than this?"
"You're right," Conna said, standing up from the ground with a wide smile.
After that, Fred and George wanted to take a secret passage to Hogsmeade.
Ever since they had acquired a huge sum of one hundred Galleons, there were so many things they wanted to buy... the new candies from Honeyduke's, butterbeer for three broomsticks, they wanted to try it all.
And of course, the most important thing... the captivating prank items from Zonko's Joke Shop.
"We've decided to take the secret passage behind the mirror on the fourth floor," Fred said mysteriously. "I can guarantee that Filch has no idea about the location of that passage."
"Are you coming with us?" George asked.
Kyle nodded, just about to agree, when an owl suddenly flew over from a distance and delivered a note to him.
Kyle took the note and read it.
"Dear Kyle:
I know you've finished your exams. Do you have time to come over? Rubeus seems to be sick.
—Hagrid."
Rubeus is sick? Kyle furrowed his brows and said, "Sorry, I need to go to Hagrid now. He has something to tell me."
