Chapter 1023: Danger! Danger!
Chapter 1023: Danger! Danger!
Aside from the awkwardness of being outmaneuvered, several Cardinal Sin Demons felt a subtle sense of impending doom.
Although, at present, the "conversion" efficiency of the Purple-skin Angels was not particularly high, and only a small fraction of the captured demons had successfully changed sides, the continuous, daily increase in the number of Purple-skin Demons proved that this was far from reaching their limit.
If these creatures were given more time, who knew how many more Purple-skin Demons they could convert. If this conversion process could happen repeatedly without any upper limit...
Imagining the Abyss being gradually devoured by the Purple-skin Angels, with all the demons eventually converted and chanting "Praise the Lord" as they surged toward them, the Greedy Demon God couldn't help but draw a sharp breath, then opened the slit on his belly to chime in:
"Indeed, those Mad Angels must be dealt with as soon as possible! If they continue like this, the Abyss might end up with a new owner!"
"But those Mad Angels are quite a problem~"
Blinking her moist, pink eyes, the Lustful Demon God cooed:
"They have control of the Pool of Rebirth on Heaven Mountain. Even if we kill all the angels that come down, they will resurrect in no time. It's an endless cycle. However, the demons they capture and soak in the Pool of Rebirth can never return to the Abyss."
"Perhaps we should try it ourselves?"
The Envious Demon God's snake-like eyes flickered, then suggested thoughtfully:
"Since they can capture demons and soak them in the Pool of Rebirth, why don't we do the opposite and capture some Purple-skin Angels, sending them to the Mudflat of Regret at the bottom of the Abyss?"
"I've already tried, and it didn't work."
The Greedy Demon God shook his head, the slit on his belly sighing:
"The Primal Sin Great Demon died in the Pool of Rebirth, which is why demons can now enter it. However, the Mudflat of Regret in our Abyss is still 'clean.' No equivalent beings have died there, so the angels won't be able to achieve anything by soaking in it.
Even if we managed to capture two of the nine Mad Angels and somehow pollute the Mudflat of Regret, we don't have the Blood Reception Ceremony. At best, we might just turn them into madmen again... Oh, right!"
At this point, the Greedy Demon God seemed to remember something, patting his belly and informing them with a sigh:
"Although the Purple-skin Angels are crazy, they're not completely foolish. Their High Priest, who looks like a Hundred-Eye Devil, has come to the Abyss but never ventures deep. He only lingers at the edge.
The moment Samel and I get close, that High Priest who can perform the Blood Reception Ceremony will immediately escape through a Portal to Heaven Mountain. The current Portals are too small for Samel and me to squeeze through."
"I say we should just fight back!"
After the Greedy Demon God finished explaining, the Wrathful Demon God's nostrils shot out two jets of blood-red steam, his eyes blazing with fury:
"Even if Beelzebub and Belphegor don't come, the five of us can still widen the Portal to Heaven Mountain. Then we can force our way in and see where they can run!"
"Getting into Heaven Mountain is easy, but it will be troublesome afterward~"
The Lustful Demon God swayed her tail, smiling sweetly as she spoke:
"The nine Mad Angels, though polluted and insane by the Evil Pus, are still very much alive. They've fought us for so long that it's almost second nature to them. The moment we enter, we'll be surrounded and attacked."
When the time comes, we won't just lose the blessings from the Abyss Hundred Dungeons; we'll also have to face the Nine Great Angels who have been blessed by Heaven Mountain. Five against nine... how many of us do you think will die? Who among us is most likely to be left behind to accompany the Primal Sin Great Demon?"
"..."
After hearing the Lustful Demon's reminder, Wrathful Demon Samuel couldn't help but pause, the intense anger he had just felt suddenly dampened.
While his power wasn't lacking, he was the largest in size and had the most straightforward methods among the Cardinal Sin Demons. If things really came to that point, once everyone started retreating because they couldn't win, even if no one else betrayed him, his size alone would make him the primary target of the Nine Great Angels.
So if they joined forces to attack Heaven Mountain, the other original sin demons might just be at risk of being eliminated, but he would be guaranteed to be killed, and then, like the original Primal Sin Great Demon, he would be submerged in the Pool of Rebirth.
"What do you suggest we do then?"
With his proposal rejected, the Wrathful Demon couldn't help but retort:
"Are we just going to sit back and let those madmen run around capturing demons and converting them into one of their own? Or do you suggest we take turns guarding the Portal, enduring the revolting stench of Heaven Mountain while squatting there like jailers?"
"Just guarding isn't enough."
The Proud Demon, who had been listening to the other demons with a distant gaze, finally spoke up:
"Don't forget our agreement with the Four Ultimate Pillars. Once the two directors from the Clean-Up Bureau return, we need to join forces with them to hold back the Nine Great Angels of Heaven Mountain."
"Right! There are the Four Ultimate Pillars!"
Upon hearing the Proud Demon's words, Samuel's face brightened.
"We can join forces with them, holding back the Nine Great Angels while dealing with those purple-skinned madmen!"
"Samuel, you'd better not count on them."
"???"
Glancing at the puzzled Wrathful Demon, the Proud Demon explained with a detached tone:
"This time, the Azure King and the Crimson Ruler are returning, also known as the All-World Cicada and the Crimson Ruler. The All-World Cicada, who grasps the World Principle, needs only a glance to understand the origins and causes of those purple-skinned angels, and can even perfectly replicate their abilities... you understand the consequences, right?"
"This... what consequences?"
"..."
Seeing that the Wrathful Demon still didn't understand, the silver-eyed man couldn't help but sigh. He then explained as clearly as possible:
"The ability to almost infinitely convert demons and control them isn't much of a threat in the hands of a mere True God like the Nine-Eyes High Priest. Even if he converts all the demons, we can still leave whenever we want. But what if this ability falls into the hands of the Four Ultimate Pillars? What if it works on us as well? Even if the Four Ultimate Pillars aren't interested in the Abyss Hundred Dungeons, can you guarantee they won't be interested in us?"
"?!?!"
"Got it now?"
Hearing the sharp intake of breath from above, the Proud Demon crossed his fingers, his face cold and grim as he declared:
"If we don't want to end up like those converted purple-skinned demons, being taken away by the Four Ultimate Pillars to be used as dogs, we must capture the Nine-Eyes High Priest before the All-World Cicada returns. Then, we must thoroughly eliminate all the purple-skinned angels, leaving not even a single feather behind!"
