On the route from the Dark Wind Fort's main base to the fifth auxiliary fort that Lu Hai Kong was attacking, there lay a canyon. This particular canyon was an unavoidable passage, making it an essential part of the journey.
Li Hu, eager to eliminate Lu Hai Kong, led his troops to the edge of the canyon. Despite his haste, he had no choice but to halt and conduct a thorough inspection. With such advantageous terrain, it would be unthinkable for the enemy not to set up traps, and Li Hu was determined to uncover them.
Li Hu spent about ten minutes at the canyon's edge, deploying scouts to meticulously examine both inside and outside the canyon. He couldn't afford to be careless, knowing that Li Xiong and his men had fallen victim to similar circumstances.
Only after repeated confirmations of safety did Li Hu lead his troops cautiously through the canyon.
Despite the prior checks, Li Hu's cautious attitude permeated the entire group, causing them to proceed with utmost care. By the time they finished crossing the hundred-meter canyon, the backs of most of the bandits were soaked with sweat.
It was the dead of winter, with temperatures dropping below freezing, yet their backs were drenched, a testament to their heightened tension. Fortunately, they managed to pass through the canyon safely, and the entire group breathed a collective sigh of relief.
"It seems there are no traps this time. Everyone, be alert and charge at full speed! We must not let those despicable rats escape!"
Li Hu took the lead, urging his troops to advance at maximum speed. With the canyon already deemed safe, it was unlikely that there would be traps ahead. Thus, there was no need for hesitation; the priority was to catch up with Lu Hai Kong before he could retreat, and teach those audacious troublemakers a lesson.
"Faster, faster, and faster!"
Li Hu noticed that the signal fire from the fifth auxiliary fort had gone out, indicating its potential fall. If they didn't hurry, they might arrive only to find a ravaged fort.
Driven by urgency, Li Hu and his men spurred their horses to their limits, leaving streaks of blood from the horses' backs as they reached their top speed.
With this relentless acceleration, the outline of the fifth auxiliary fort loomed closer. Just as they were about to reach it, Li Hu, at the forefront, suddenly heard a crisp 'crack'—the sound of breaking bones. Before he could comprehend what had happened, his horse, under the force of inertia, stumbled, throwing Li Hu off its back.
It wasn't just Li Hu; most of the bandit group faced a similar fate. Some fell into horse traps due to their haste, while others collided as they tried to avoid the traps at the last moment. In an instant, this group of bandits, without even encountering Lu Hai Kong, met their end in this 'accident.'
"Damn it, we've fallen into a trap!" Li Hu, narrowly avoiding the horses charging at him, gazed at the horse traps on the ground and his nearly annihilated troops, his face a mix of shock and anger.
At that moment, Lu Hai Kong, having already conquered the fifth auxiliary fort, emerged with his troops, including Yue Er and the nineteen commanders, and began their assault.
Lu Hai Kong's forces didn't directly engage the bandits but instead encircled them, constantly firing arrows at Li Hu's troops.
The once-depleted bandits suffered another significant blow to their morale. Among Lu HaiKong's group, only Lu HaiKong himself had reached the 15th level in Basic Archery, while the rest struggled to accurately hit their targets while riding at high speeds, even with Lu HaiKong's arrows barely finding their mark.
But if they couldn't hit the riders, could they at least hit the horses? While many horses had fallen into the horse traps with broken legs, there were also numerous others that had charged from behind, avoiding the traps. When these horses were struck by arrows, the sudden intense pain drove them mad, causing them to charge wildly.
The secondary damage from this situation was no less severe than the harm caused by the horse traps.
After two consecutive waves, Li Hu's team had lost six layers, and the remaining forces had suffered heavy casualties, with their combat effectiveness reduced to less than half of their original strength.
Lu HaiKong was stunned by this unexpected turn of events. He couldn't fathom how he had lost so many of his men without even seeing the enemy. This kind of loss was irrecoverable, even if he managed to defeat a group of rats.
It wasn't until he spotted a familiar figure among his troops that he realized who was behind this betrayal. His eyes widened in shock as he recognized Li Xiong, his trusted right-hand man, "Li Xiong, so it was you, the traitor, who orchestrated all this!"
Upon seeing Li Xiong, Lu HaiKong immediately understood the situation. He now knew why the enemy had such precise knowledge of his fortified camp and could set up traps so accurately. It was all because of Li Xiong's betrayal.
Indeed, once the person in charge of all camp affairs and his trusted confidant chose to betray him, designing a trap for him would be effortless.
"Li Xiong, I want you dead!"
Fueled by rage, Li Hu seized an undamaged horse, brandishing his spear as he charged directly at Li Xiong. It was Li Xiong's betrayal that had cost him the lives of his elite troops, the destruction of his five branch forts, and even put his own life at risk. How could Li Hu not hate him for this?
"Don't think that by trapping my men, you've won. As long as I, Li Hu, am alive, you're nothing but a pack of crumbling tiles. I can wipe you out with ease!"
Li Hu effortlessly deflected the arrows aimed at him and charged towards Lu HaiKong's troops with a menacing look.
"This guy has guts," Lu HaiKong thought, initially unconcerned. He casually threw a Reconnaissance Skill towards Li Hu, and suddenly, he was stunned by what he saw.

Strictly speaking, this was the first time Lu HaiKong had encountered a commander with a Strength value over 60, and the attributes were dazzling. Compared to Lu HaiKong's own skills and attributes, this commander's martial arts were more impressive, forming a systematic whole. Although Lu HaiKong might not lack in skill variety, the other commander's combat prowess in normal conditions was undoubtedly superior.
This guy seemed to be a formidable opponent.
Lu HaiKong frowned, while Yue Er, the girl beside him, charged forward excitedly...
