Chapter 101: A Dream of Egypt
Chapter 101: A Dream of Egypt
The duel lasted only a few minutes, but the surrounding Sprites who had gathered to watch were left in stunned silence.
How should they describe it?
The Brave's duel was a little different from what they had imagined. In fact, there were two Sprites present who had returned from the White Bone King's cave. When they saw their captain about to play a card game with the Brave, one of them had intended to warn the captain.
But he was stopped by the other Sprite.
The Sprite chuckled and said, "Hold on, let's watch first. It might turn out to be quite interesting."
The hesitant Sprite considered his teammate's words and decided they made sense.
So he remained silent, and the two of them munched on their sunflower seeds, grinning as they watched their captain get trounced.
As expected, it was hilarious.
The captain, who had been felled by a single blow from the Brave, closed his eyes and carefully replayed the duel in his mind.
Upon reflection, he suddenly realized that during the entire duel, he seemed to have done nothing. His cards were either discarded before he could play them, instantly destroyed upon being played, or simply stolen by the opponent.
To be honest, if not for his respect for the Brave, he would have been tempted to throw down the duel disk and draw his sword in anger.
But now that the duel was over and he had calmed down, as he replayed the events in his mind, especially considering the possibility of mastering such a skill himself and using it to bring misery to those detestable minions of the Evil God, the captain couldn't help but pull at the corners of his mouth.
"Hehe... hehehehe."
He couldn't hold back his laughter.
The Sprites around them exchanged glances, feeling a bit concerned.
Had their captain gone crazy from that duel? Just then, a warrior rushed in from outside.
"Captain! Report!"
The warrior said urgently.
"We've found the red-clothed, jellyfish-haired Otherworlder you asked about!"
Meanwhile, Judai was enjoying his meal.
If it had been any other student who found themselves suddenly transported to another world, they might have been terrified and lost. But Judai, with his thick-skinned nerves, remained unfazed. After a brief moment of surprise, he quickly accepted this new setting and began wandering around. He even embodied the spirit of a model student in this new world—when he saw an elderly Sprite woman struggling to push a small cart loaded with goods, he kindly offered to help.
Then, unable to refuse the Sprite woman's enthusiastic invitation, he ended up gobbling down three big bowls of food. Only now did he walk away, rubbing his round belly.
"Wait a minute, now's not the time to be thinking about food, burp~" Judai took a deep breath. "It looks like You Xuan is here too. I need to find him quickly. And I have to figure out a way to get back to the academy before dawn, or I might get expelled."
Winged Chestnut Ball floating beside him: "Kuri~"
Chestnut Ball indicated that no, the problem they should be worrying about wasn't expulsion.
"Huh?" Judai suddenly cupped the Chestnut Ball in his hands, only now realizing, "That's weird, why can I touch you now, Winged Chestnut Ball?"
Until this moment, Judai, who had been busy filling his stomach, hadn't realized he was in the world of Sprites.
"Kuri!"
The Chestnut Ball suddenly cried out, flapping its wings and flying out of Judai's hands. It rammed into him, knocking him to one side.
Judai stumbled and fell on his behind, and in that instant, a poisonous needle flew past, embedding itself in the ground in front of him.
"What?!"
Judai twisted his head in surprise and saw a bug-like creature standing on the slope nearby. It wore armor and held a sword and shield, with a cloak draped over its body. Its stance was humanoid, but its head resembled an insect of some sort.
It was an Insect Knight.
"Hmm? Where have I seen this before?"
Judai snapped his fingers as he realized something.
"Wait a second, aren't you Zhang Ka?"
[Insect Armor Knight], four stars, attack power 1900, Mortal Bone.
The Insect Armor Knight coldly hmphed, "So you are a Duelist. That weak Sprite blocked my attack, didn't it? My scout said the White Bone King was defeated by an Otherworld warrior. Was it you?"
Judai's confused face: "What king are you talking about?"
The Insect Armor Knight leaped down, preparing to attack again, when suddenly, he seemed to sense something. His expression changed.
A domineering sword aura slashed towards him from behind without warning!
Caught off guard by the sudden ambush, the Insect Armor Knight had no time to react. But just then, the soil beneath his feet shifted, and an Insect Clan Sprite burst out, using its body to block the sword aura. The impact instantly blew the Sprite's body to pieces.
"A legendary warrior!" The Insect Knight exclaimed in shock, but his reflexes were exceptional. Even as he tumbled, he drew a card and played it with astonishing speed.
"Explosive Armor!"
Trap Card - Explosive Armor, a shield capable of countering and destroying various powerful sprites in one blow.
The explosive energy of the armor surged forth, colliding with the descending Chaos Warrior. However, it only met a faint, golden light that shielded the warrior, dissipating instantly.
"Useless!" The Insect Knight cried out in surprise. "Does he have a body protection spell too?"
The radiant light that enveloped the Chaos Warrior was [Guardian Power]. An equipment spell that allowed monsters to accumulate magical tokens when attacking, protecting them from destruction in battle or by effects.
In this critical moment, the Insect Knight's compound eyes caught a glimpse of something even more alarming.
In the corner of his vision, he spotted the silver-haired, white-robed mage, who had somehow appeared behind him. The mage's staff glowed with gathered magic, about to unleash a torrent of power in his direction.
Caught between two formidable opponents, he had nowhere to turn.
"Counter Trap - Negate Attack!"
A powerful vortex erupted around him, engulfing both the Chaos Warrior's and the Silent Magician's attacks, pulling them into a spinning whirlpool of energy. This was followed by a fierce backlash storm that forced both opponents to retreat temporarily.
"Phew... that was close."
The Insect Knight stood up, his eyes coldly assessing the two sprites before him. His gaze then shifted to the direction from which the duelist, hidden in the shadows, was commanding the sprites.
"So, there's more than one visitor from another world here?" The Insect Knight asked in a low voice.
You Xuan stepped out from the shadows, his tone casual. "Ah, it seems a duel is the only way to settle this after all."
The intense exchange that had just transpired, reminiscent of the Egyptian saga, brought to mind the Pokemon battles from the memories of the King of Duels. Perhaps this was why duels between duelists had to be settled through card games. Unless one possessed overwhelming power like the three Egyptian Gods, capable of single-handedly tearing through the opponent's entire force, it was nearly impossible to determine a clear winner when both sides had unlimited resources to summon monsters and use skills without restraint.
"I see," the Insect Knight said, understanding. "So, you are the duelist who defeated the White Bone King. But regardless, anyone who dares to intrude upon the realm of the gods must become a sacrifice to them."
With a flourish, the Insect Knight brandished his duel disk. "Words are futile. Let's begin!"
"Duel!"
Judai, who had been standing by in confusion, was still trying to process what was happening. One thing he had figured out, though, was that You Xuan seemed to be about to engage in a card game with their opponent.
Judai whispered longingly, "I want to duel with sprites too."
As the protagonist of the Game King series, encompassing countless duels, this might be the first time Judai had ever had his chance to duel snatched away.
