Chapter 1006: A New Beginning (Part 5)
Help?! Seton eyed Ivan warily, not believing a single word of it.
Just half an hour ago, dozens of ruthless Wizards had burst in, desperately trying to capture him, clearly with ill intentions.
If not for his prior arrangements, with thirty of his most elite snipers lying in ambush nearby, and the Wizards Grindelwald had left to protect him, they might have succeeded in the ambush and he would be in grave danger by now.
Compared to Seton's wariness, the Acolytes present could only be described as terrified. They knew all too well the terrifying power of the man before them.
Most importantly, according to the plan, this man should have died in the French Ministry of Magic...
Unless...
The thought of that possibility made the Acolytes' faces pale with fear, their wands trembling in their hands.
"You guessed right, Grindelwald is dead. I killed him with my own hands..." Ivan spoke slowly, and then, as if remembering something, he continued.
"If you're willing to lay down your wands now, I can give you a chance to atone for your sins!"
Ivan's words were sincere, with no hint of jesting.
While these Acolytes had caused a lot of trouble in the Wizarding World, many of the Wizards who joined the Death Eaters had been swayed by Grindelwald's theory of Wizard rule over the world, not truly evil Dark Wizards.
According to intelligence gathered by the International Confederation of Wizards, Grindelwald had about a thousand followers. Ivan couldn't possibly kill all the Wizards who had joined Grindelwald; they were all valuable Casters.
If they were willing to see the error of their ways and reform, Ivan was not averse to giving them another chance.
Unfortunately, Ivan's hope was in vain. The Acolytes, upon hearing of Grindelwald's death, first showed fear and disbelief, then their faces turned increasingly frantic.
"This is a lie! He must be trying to deceive us. Attack, take him down!" shouted the leading Death Eater, his voice hoarse, as he waved his wand fiercely.
"Reducto!"
"Petrificus!" "Crucio! (Crucio!)"
The other Acolytes, seeing this, no longer hesitated. Dozens of spell beams flew out, all aimed at Ivan!
In addition, the President's guards in the office, with Seton's tacit approval, joined the fray. Their guns, though lacking the mystique of magic, were no less destructive.
Faced with a combined attack of technology and magic, Ivan simply raised the Elder Wand and tapped it in front of him. Several invisible magic barriers appeared in front of him.
The dazzling spell beams struck the magic barriers, causing ripples, while the bullets from the guns were deflected away.
"Looks like you've made the worst decision", Ivan shook his head, disappointed by the choice of these thirty-odd Wizards.
But then again, if they weren't loyal to the end, Grindelwald wouldn't have sent them to monitor the French Minister.
With this thought, Ivan completely lost interest in these people. Fine blue lightning began to coalesce at the tip of his wand.
"Thunder!" Ivan intoned indifferently, and the flickering lightning snakes attacked the enemies in the arena at an unimaginable speed.
"Protego" "Impedimenta~ (Impediment Jinx)"
Seeing that their previous attacks were completely ineffective, the Acolytes on the field were nearly in despair. The news of Grindelwald's death from Ivan's mouth only added to their panic. Only a few managed to muster the strength to cast a few protective charms.
Unfortunately, the Bloodline Magic enhanced by the Elder Wand was far beyond their ability to resist. The flickering lightning was unexpectedly agile, splitting into dozens of smaller lightning snakes. They bypassed the layers of barriers and surged toward the remaining Acolytes.
Amidst the rising screams, the battle came to an end. Grindelwald's followers and the President's guards, armed with firearms, all collapsed on the ground, twitching and unconscious.
The vast President's office soon contained only Ivan and Seton.
Seeing his guards fall in a single exchange, Seton's fear of Ivan reached its peak. Under Ivan's relentless pressure, he took a few steps back, shouting in panic.
"Guards... Guards!"
Seton desperately hoped that someone would come to rescue him from this demon, but no matter how he called, no one responded.
Ivan was not surprised. Before entering, he had already instructed Fenrir and others to protect the important officials in the Presidential Palace and disarm the guards and bodyguards.
However, the terror on Seton's face made Ivan stop in his tracks. From the moment he entered, it was clear that the President of France had a deep misunderstanding of him.
With this thought, Ivan decided to explain himself. Just as he was about to speak, a sudden sense of danger arose in his mind.
The moment he sensed the threat, Ivan entered the Flame Incarnation state and activated the three remaining protective rings without hesitation.
The window on the right side exploded, and a long, slender bullet crashed into the first protective barrier, tearing it apart in just half a second. The second barrier was also shattered in quick succession.
Fortunately, after two consecutive weakenings, the bullet's kinetic energy was almost depleted. It hung in the air, stuck in the third protective barrier.
Ivan reached out and picked up the severely deformed bullet floating in front of him. With a light flick of his fingers, he incinerated it into ashes.
"Sniper... I didn't expect there to be a fish that slipped through the net", Ivan was somewhat surprised, thinking that Fenrir and the others had resolved all the issues.
The next moment, Fenrir appeared, holding a sniper in camouflage. He apologized, "Sorry, Sir Hals, it was my oversight..."
"Be more careful next time!" Ivan's tone carried a hint of dissatisfaction, but he did not blame Fenrir too harshly.
The snipers assigned to protect the President were undoubtedly highly skilled in camouflage. It was only natural for one to slip through the net during the initial sweep.
"Since the threat has been completely eliminated, I believe we can have a proper conversation now... Sir Seton." Ivan turned to Seton and spoke in a calm tone.
