Chapter 1002: The Dawn of a New Era (Part 1)
Chapter 1002: The Dawn of a New Era (Part 1)
Ivan pushed himself to his feet, looking at Grindelwald, who lay motionless on the ground, and let out a slow breath.
It's all over!
Ivan gently touched the Crescent Pendant hanging around his neck, feeling a lingering sense of fear.
During the battle, if not for the pendant that had deflected Grindelwald's Fiendfyre, it could have been he lying on the ground instead.
Thankfully, he had managed to defeat his greatest opponent...
All the preparation had been worth it.
As he reflected on this, Ivan didn't forget to use the Magic Mark to notify Fenrir, who had already finished his own battle, to come and clean up the mess. Then, he took a few steps forward and picked up the Elder Wand that had fallen to the ground.
A new description appeared in the System Bar.
[Magic Item: Elder Wand (Deathly Hallows)
Magic: Extremely Powerful
Effect: Significantly enhances spell power, drastically reduces Magic Consumption
Owner: Ivan Hals
Compatibility: 100%
Description: Legend has it that this wand was crafted from the branch of the Elder Tree by Death itself, possessing unimaginable power. With it in your grasp, you control the fate of others.
Note: You defeated the previous owner, Grindelwald, in a one-on-one battle and have become the new master of the Elder Wand.]
Holding the most powerful wand, Ivan immediately felt his Magic become incredibly active, a sensation no other wand could provide.
Although he had used this wand once more than four years ago, his strength at the time was pitiful, and he could not fully appreciate the Elder Wand's power.
"Ultimate Spell!" Ivan glanced around at the Fiendfyre still burning fiercely, and he waved the wand tentatively.
A powerful force spread out rapidly, suppressing the terrifying Fiendfyre that had engulfed the Department of Mysteries, gradually reducing it to nothing.
The Magic Barriers that had surrounded the area, now without Grindelwald's control, slowly dissipated.
Ivan nodded in satisfaction. The Elder Wand truly lived up to its reputation as the most powerful wand, far surpassing the Human Bone Wand he had painstakingly crafted. He wondered what method had been used to create it.
Wait, the Deathly Hallows... Ivan's thoughts shifted, and he suddenly remembered that he had collected all three Deathly Hallows. He approached Grindelwald's body, first pulling out the Sword of Gryffindor that was still embedded in the other's chest, and then stripping off the outer robe.
[Magic Item: Invisibility Cloak (Deathly Hallows)
Magic: Very Powerful (Extremely Powerful)
Special Condition: Partially Damaged
Description: Legend has it that this cloak was made from Death's own cloak and crafted by Death, possessing immense Magic that allows the wearer to become invisible and evade detection.
Note: You damaged it in a great battle...]
Reading the System Bar's description, Ivan couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. No matter how mysterious and powerful the Deathly Hallows were, he had still managed to pierce the Invisibility Cloak with his sword.
However, the pride quickly turned to concern as he realized the cloak was now his, and his current Alchemy skills might not be enough to repair such a powerful Magic Item.
Perhaps because the Invisibility Cloak was damaged, when Ivan draped it over himself, the three Deathly Hallows did not produce any resonant reaction...
Ivan stroked his chin, lost in thought, when the door to the Department of Mysteries suddenly burst open. Over a hundred Aurors stormed in, and upon seeing the scene inside, they all involuntarily gasped.
Although the rampaging Fiendfyre had already been cleared by Ivan, the Department of Mysteries was in shambles after such a fierce battle. Grindelwald's body lay at Ivan's feet.
Seeing this, everyone immediately understood that a monumental battle must have taken place, and the ultimate victor was Ivan Hals, standing in the center of the room...
"Are you alright? President Hals?" Unlike the others, Fenrir immediately approached and asked with genuine concern.
Ivan looked rather worse for wear, his robes scorched and his chest stained with blood. Fenrir had never seen Ivan in such a disheveled state before.
"Don't worry, I'm fine. This is Grindelwald's blood!" Ivan snapped out of his thoughts, saw the blood on his chest, and pointed to Grindelwald's body on the ground, offering a reassuring smile.
Fenrir looked down and noticed a large hole in Grindelwald's chest, the likely cause being the sword in Ivan's left hand.
"Scourgify!" Ivan waved his wand, lightly tapping his robes to clean them, then asked about the battle's casualties.
Fenrir chuckled bitterly, not daring to hide anything, and reported the truth. Out of the four hundred wizards who participated in the assault on the French Ministry of Magic, one hundred and thirty-seven were injured, and sixty-two Aurors were killed.
The casualties were nearly half of the total number!
Ivan couldn't help but frown, but he quickly relaxed. When he made the decision to launch a full-scale attack on the French Ministry of Magic, he had anticipated significant losses.
After all, this was not like the previous attack on the British Ministry of Magic, where Mole had been responsible for disabling the Ministry's protective magic. This time, they faced a formidable opponent like Grindelwald, who had pinned Ivan down in the Department of Mysteries.
As a result, the Aurors had to engage in direct combat with Grindelwald's ruthless and well-entrenched acolytes, leading to inevitable heavy casualties.
"By the way, President Hals, we found the missing Magic Masters from over half a year ago in the French Ministry of Magic", Fenrir suddenly remembered and hurriedly mentioned.
Ivan was somewhat surprised, searching his memories and quickly recalling the incident.
"Did you find out why Grindelwald captured them?" Ivan asked curiously.
"Grindelwald intended to..." Fenrir was about to speak, but then realized the matter might need to be kept confidential. His expression turned serious. "Let's go; I'll explain on the way."
"Alright!" Ivan nodded, agreeing immediately.
The two left the Department of Mysteries, walked down two corridors, and entered a heavily guarded room.
Ivan looked around. The room resembled a hospital, with over a hundred beds, each occupied by a patient in various states of distress, all bound by Magic Ropes.
Only then did Fenrir speak with extra caution. "Grindelwald wanted these Potions Masters to develop a potion that could turn Muggles into wizards!"
