Chapter 100: Motostrike and Rapidash
Chapter 100: Motostrike and Rapidash
"Amazing!"
Eric couldn't believe his eyes as he gazed at the scene before him. He adjusted his glasses and took in the surroundings, finally focusing on the three Ride-on Goat Pokemon.
"This is utterly crazy! Such dense and abundant Grass-type energy! The simple move 'Grassy Terrain' has been taken to the extreme, reaching a perfect level of cultivation... no, it's even surpassed that!"
Only a world-class, master-level Pokemon breeder could achieve such a feat, right?
"Full marks! Absolutely full marks!" Eric exclaimed, quickly looking up at the young man before him. "You're the breeder who cultivated these three Ride-on Goats, aren't you?"
Feeling the gaze of the entire audience on him, Naoki couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed. He composed himself and smiled politely. "No, I'm just the ranch owner who raised them."
However, Eric looked unconvinced. "I don't believe an ordinary ranch owner could make Ride-on Goats master 'Grassy Terrain' to this extent."
As expected of a Pokemon breeder, he recognized the move instantly. Naoki thought to himself.
But he really wasn't a breeder! Naoki sought help from Mayor Thomas, who stepped forward to explain.
"Eric, sir, Naoki really isn't a breeder. He just moved here recently and is currently running a ranch."
Eric's face was filled with confusion. "How is this possible? It defies logic!"
Although shocked, he quickly regained his composure and began to think while observing the young man beside him.
Naoki: "..."
Mayor Thomas took the opportunity to continue, holding a microphone to address the crowd. "Everyone, it seems this year's Livestock Competition has found its champion! Let's congratulate Naoki Ranch on winning the championship trophy and the town's specially prepared six-month supply of Pokemon food!"
"Let's also thank our judge, Eric, for this competition!"
The audience erupted in cheers, and amidst the lively atmosphere, the Spring Livestock Competition came to a close.
With the championship trophy and a photo of himself with the three Ride-on Goats, taken with Mayor Thomas' help, Naoki rode his Gurdurr back to the ranch, feeling content.
He placed the trophy and photo on his desk, gazing at the picture. The scene was frozen in time, with him and the three Ride-on Goats standing together on the grass, looking at the camera.
This moment was truly memorable, and Naoki thought he should buy a special trophy case to display the trophy and photo.
As for the six-month supply of Pokemon food, it was a nice bonus!
Mayor Thomas said someone would deliver it tomorrow.
What a wonderful day!
Now, it was time to deal with the little bear's situation.
Looking at the little bear with a crescent moon mark on its head, Naoki took out an empty Poke Ball from his drawer and asked, "Little bear, are you willing to stay at the ranch forever?"
"Yi?" The little bear seemed surprised by Naoki's invitation and let out a startled cry. "Yi..."
"What's wrong? Don't you want to stay?"
The little bear quickly shook its head. "Yi yi!"
After careful consideration, it made a decision.
The little bear jumped high into the air, touched the Poke Ball with its paw, and its body was sucked inside as a red light.
The Poke Ball shook gently a few times before coming to a stop.
"Wonderful! We have another new companion joining us at the ranch!" He opened the Poke Ball, releasing the little bear.
Naoki smiled at it and said, "From now on, you'll live here at the ranch! I promise you'll have all the honey you could want!"
"Yimeow!"
Touched by Naoki's concern, the little bear didn't resort to acting cute this time. Instead, it sincerely started to act affectionate towards Naoki.
Naoki reached out, picked up the little bear, and ruffled its head affectionately. "That's more like it!"
He spent some time playing with the little bear before turning to prepare lunch.
Suddenly, as if struck by a thought, the little bear ran out after exchanging a few "yimeows" with Naoki.
Naoki was perplexed but figured the little bear knew its way around the area, so he didn't worry.
As he finished preparing lunch, he saw the little bear struggling to drag a cloth bag back to the ranch.
It handed the bag to Naoki and happily said, "Yimeow yimeow!"
"Huh?" Naoki was taken aback.
Intrigued, he opened the bag and found it filled with trinkets.
There were colorful glass marbles, pebbles, small bottles, seeds of unknown plants, large tubers, shallow-water shells, hard rocks, and bones.
Naoki paused for a moment, then realized that these must be the little bear's "possessions" that it had accumulated over the years.
Now that it had a new home at the ranch, it had gone back to its old den to retrieve all its belongings.
Understanding this, Naoki smiled and said reassuringly, "Don't worry, I'll help you keep these things safe."
"Yimeow~"
---
That evening, after a tiring day, Naoki fell asleep early, hugging the little bear and Bu Bo.
The moon was especially beautiful that night. For once, Garchomp didn't return to sleep but stayed in the ranch's grassy field, gazing at the moon after a day of move practice.
Moto-Striker, who couldn't sleep, came out as well. Seeing Garchomp sitting alone and admiring the moon, it walked over and sat by its side.
Ever since their flying disc game a few days ago, Moto-Striker had been thinking about something.
It wanted to become stronger, as powerful as the formidable Garchomp, so it could be of more help to Naoki.
But it couldn't think of a good way to do so. Fortunately, seeing Garchomp now, Moto-Striker asked:
"Ga-oh?" (Garchomp, why are you working so hard?)
"Ow!"
Garchomp blinked and, upon hearing Moto-Striker's question, began to share its story.
It spoke of its birthplace, a small island, its admiration for Garchomp, and how it used to feel sad and weak, spending its evenings sitting alone on a cliff, gazing at the moon.
Moto-Striker listened quietly, its face reflecting a mix of understanding and confusion.
Then it asked, "Ga-oh?" (Now that you've learned so many powerful moves, can I learn them with you?)
Garchomp was puzzled by this request. "Ow? (Why don't you learn from Garchomp? It's stronger than me.)
"
"Ga-oh..." Moto-Striker didn't know how to respond. It hung its head and said, "Ga-oh, ga-oh... (It's scary sometimes. It looks at me with scary eyes, and I'm afraid of it...)
"
Garchomp was perplexed. "Ga-oh?"
Was that true? It hadn't sensed anything like that.
