Chapter 10: The Tears of Goddess Savia
Chapter 10: The Tears of Goddess Savia
In front of the warehouse, a bustling square was filled with players setting up stalls and hawking their goods.
"Take a look, folks! Level 2 material: Goblin Leather, only 1 Psychic Coin each! Tailors, don't miss out!"
"Level 3 material: Wild Boar Meat, limited quantity, buy now!"
"Level 1 common leather shoulder armor."
While the warehouse could also sell items, listing items for sale there required a service fee of at least 1 Psychic Coin, which many players found too steep. As a result, they opted to set up stalls to sell items they no longer needed.
Su Yu strolled down the street, hoping to find some good deals.
However, since the game had just launched, players hadn't yet acquired many valuable items.
After circling the area and finding nothing of interest, Su Yu turned and entered the warehouse.
Inside, he listed all the items and equipment from the two bosses that he didn't need, including:
- Skill Scroll: [Death Strike (Excellent)]
- Skill Scroll: [Rock-Cleaving Sword (Excellent) Level 4]
- [Black Iron Boots (Excellent) Level 3]
- [Boar Chief's Tusks (Excellent)] x2
- [Hill Goat Chief's Horn (Excellent)]
He set these items up for auction, with a minimum bid of 1 Psychic Coin and no upper limit, for a 24-hour period.
With that taken care of, Su Yu put the matter out of his mind and left the warehouse, heading toward the hidden quest that would increase his mana.
At the entrance to Wolf King Valley, west of Nolan Village, Su Yu found the woodsman he remembered from the hidden quest.
The woodsman was a middle-aged man with fiery red hair.
At that moment, he was struggling to carry two large bundles of firewood back to the village.
Seeing the woodsman, Su Yu's eyes lit up, and he quickly approached.
"Sir, I heard you heard the song of Goddess Savia the day before yesterday?"
The hidden quest for the mana-increasing accessory had 20 stages.
The 10th and the final stages were the most challenging.
The final stage involved defeating a particularly tough boss, while the 10th stage was a puzzle.
By solving the puzzle, players would learn that the woodsman named Sam had heard the song of Goddess Savia the day before yesterday.
With this clue, players could speak to the woodsman and trigger the next stage, the 11th.
However, as an experienced player of Evolution, Su Yu knew that hidden quests didn't always have to be completed in order.
As long as players had the necessary items or knew the voice command to trigger a specific stage, they could skip the earlier steps and start from the middle or end of the quest.
Sure enough, as Su Yu expected, the woodsman relaxed and set the two bundles of wood on the ground, smiling.
"Adventurer, I bet Annie told you, didn't she?"
"Of course," Su Yu replied without missing a beat.
"Very good! But I'm in a hurry to get home and cook. If you're willing to help me carry these two bundles of wood, I'll tell you about the song of Goddess Savia," the woodsman said with a grin.
"System: You have triggered the Excellent Hidden Quest [The Tears of Goddess Savia (11/20)]. Do you accept?"
"Accept!"
Su Yu immediately accepted the quest and enthusiastically picked up the two bundles of wood.
"Sir, I'll take you home now! And I'll take care of any bandits who try to steal your wood on the way!"
With that, Su Yu hoisted the wood and strode confidently toward the village.
The 11th stage of [The Tears of Goddess Savia] was an escort mission.
During the journey back to the village, players would encounter two groups of six bandits, all aiming to steal the two bundles of wood.
When a player completed this hidden quest, they posted on the forums, complaining that the game developers must have had a screw loose.
"I mean, who in their right mind would design a quest where bandits rob woodcutters? The designer must have had a few screws loose!" While this player’s complaint was well-founded, and many players agreed with her, a dramatic turn of events followed.
The very next day, the player’s account was permanently banned from the game, with no explanation from the developers. This incident sparked intense discussions among players and was later featured in the "Top Bizarre Incidents of the Year" list.
Thus, Su Yu found this hidden quest particularly memorable.
When the woodcutter heard Su Yu’s words, he looked puzzled. "Adventurer, why would bandits come to rob our wood? It’s not worth much."
Su Yu paused for a moment. "You tell me! Hurry up, or it’ll be dark soon, and old William’s widow, Jenny, will be off to someone else’s house!"
"Right, adventurer!" The woodcutter’s heart raced at the mention of Jenny, and he quickly followed Su Yu’s lead.
While Su Yu was tackling the hidden quest, he was unaware that the equipment, skill scrolls, and materials he had listed in the warehouse were causing a massive stir in all the Rookie Towns of the server! In Rookie Town 002—Windbrook Village.
Unlike other rookie towns, the Level 2 monster zone in Windbrook Village was monopolized by a major guild, Emperor of Carnage.
However, it wasn’t a complete monopoly. Emperor of Carnage controlled half of the leveling area, leaving the other half for ordinary players.
The numerous ordinary players were crowded into the remaining half, killing goblins while glaring resentfully at the members of Emperor of Carnage.
Yet, they didn’t unite to attack the guild. Earlier, a group of passionate players had gathered to challenge Emperor of Carnage, but they were quickly "sent offline to reflect" by the guild.
The remaining players were a disorganized mob. Even though they knew they could overpower Emperor of Carnage if they banded together, they chose to endure the oppression and grind levels in silence.
At the center of the area monopolized by Emperor of Carnage, their leader, Kieran Darkfate (formerly "Blood Emperor Slaughter Sky"), wielded a Level 2 Excellent Quality longsword, leveling up surrounded by a group of beautiful women.
The guild members hurriedly reduced the goblins to low health, then led them to Kieran Darkfate, who delivered the final blow.
A golden light flashed, and Kieran Darkfate successfully reached Level 3.
The surrounding guild members were overjoyed, gathering around to cheer loudly.
"Congratulations, Boss, on your level up!"
"Boss is definitely the first Level 3 player in the game!"
"Boss will be the first to reach Level 10 and enter the main city!"
"Boss will be the strongest player in the game!"
"Our Emperor of Carnage guild will be the most powerful guild in the game!"
The guild members showered Kieran Darkfate with flattery, praising him as the greatest player in the history of the game.
Kieran Darkfate’s lips curled into a slight smile at the praise.
With a flick of his wrist, a Level 3 Common Quality longsword appeared in his hand.
His equipment changed rapidly, and in a short time, he had equipped several Level 3 Common Quality items.
The guild members’ praise grew even more enthusiastic.
But just then, a young man with the sharp eyes of a hawk, an assassin class, appeared in the Level 2 leveling area.
"Kieran, something big has happened!"
