Chapter 10: Skeletal Warrior - 1st Tier Elite
Chapter 10: Skeletal Warrior - 1st Tier Elite
[Dungeon Quest: Clear all Undead troops from the Training Ground]
[Reward: 1000 Experience Points]
As soon as Qin Muye entered the one-time dungeon known as the Undead Crypt: 961 Bone Training Ground, the quest was immediately updated.
The reward of 1000 experience points was quite generous in the early stages. Normally, to earn that much, he would have to kill 100 1st Tier troops. Completing this quest would essentially be a freebie.
Qin Muye's luck wasn't particularly great; he didn't trigger the 1% chance of encountering a Hero unit or a Champion-level troop. Clearly, these were supposed to be BOSS-level units, and as a 1st Tier beginner dungeon, it was highly unlikely for such powerful units to appear.
Unless, of course, he had incredibly good luck.
Upon entering the dungeon, Qin Muye and his Champion-level Imp were teleported into the Bone Training Ground. The area was vast and open, with three small squads of skeletons training.
The three leading Elite Skeletal Warriors wore leather armor and wielded long knives, while the regular skeleton troops were dressed in tattered rags and armed with rusty blades. The difference between them was stark, like the distinction between a ragtag militia and a well-trained army.
But as 1st Tier troops, his basic Reconnaissance skill could easily see through their stats.
[Unit Name: Skeletal Warrior]
[Unit Tier: 1st Tier Elite]
[Health: 10/10]
[Attack: 3]
[Defense: 2]
[Abilities]
[Undead: Immune to poison, mind magic, and fear, but cannot be healed or resurrected]
[Indifferent: No morale]
[Hollow Body: Chance to evade ranged attacks]
[Elite Warrior: +1 Attack, +1 Defense]
Qin Muye noticed that these Elite Skeletal Warriors had been renamed and gained an additional Elite Warrior ability. Regular skeleton troops usually had only three abilities, with an attack of 2 and defense of 1. The first three abilities were the same as non-Elite skeleton troops.
This observation left him puzzled. His Imp had reached the Champion level, yet it was still called an Imp. Why did the skeleton troops change names?
Was it because his Imp's advancement was not influenced by the Lord's Era system but was instead a result of his own modifications?
The three Elite Skeletal Warriors, upon spotting Qin Muye and his Champion Imp, immediately led 27 skeleton troops toward them.
In total, there were 30 of them, a considerable number.
Seeing this, Qin Muye promptly turned and ran.
"Leave it to you, I believe in you!!!" he shouted as he fled.
The Champion Imp bared a ferocious grin. "Master, have no fear. They're just a bunch of bones."
With that, the Imp brandished its standard longsword and charged forward.
If it were 1st Tier Champion-level skeleton troops, he might have been more cautious. But these three Elite Skeletal Warriors were nothing more than weaklings to him.
With a defense of 10, even a swarm of 30 skeleton troops wouldn't break through. And with an attack of 15, any hit would leave the skeletons missing limbs.
The longsword swung, cleanly slicing the three leading Elite Skeletal Warriors in half.
However, as undead beings, they were not made of flesh and blood. They didn't die from the cuts but instead struggled to move their broken bodies toward the Champion Imp.
Seeing this, the Champion-level Sprite mercilessly stomped on the skull, extinguishing the soul fire within. The soul fire splattered out, and the creature finally died.
Observing the performance of the Skeleton Warriors, Qin Muye realized that these undead troops were nothing but emotionless killing machines, with potential that rivaled that of the Sprites.
Fearless in death, their only weakness was the soul fire within their skulls. Even if dismembered, they would continue fighting as long as the soul fire remained alight.
With the three Elite-level Skeleton Warriors all crushed to death, the Champion-level Sprite faced no further threat. Though decapitation was a bit troublesome, it was still a one-sided slaughter.
"Damn, how did more troops slip through?" Qin Muye suddenly noticed five more Skeleton Warriors heading his way, which left him feeling helpless. He naturally took off running.
With 0 attack and 0 defense, he wouldn't stand a chance against these 2 attack, 1 defense Skeleton Warriors. Was he asking for death?
The Champion-level Sprite also noticed Qin Muye being pursued. A fierce light flashed in his eyes, and he swiftly picked up a Skeleton Warrior, hurling it at the five chasing Skeleton Warriors.
The force was immense, shattering all six Skeleton Warriors.
Seeing this, Qin Muye bravely approached and picked up a skull to examine it. Despite being shattered, the skull still tried to bite him.
"The core is the skull. Once the other parts are disconnected from the skeleton, they lose control. This is quite interesting."
"Cut off the heads of all the Skeleton Warriors, then kill them slowly."
"Understood, Master!" the Champion-level Sprite replied, obediently following the order.
He had encountered a group of Skeleton Warriors before, but only ten of them in the wild, so he hadn't studied them thoroughly. This was a good opportunity to do so.
"It seems I should build a recruitment structure for Skeleton Warriors. They are top-notch laborers."
Undead creatures, especially those without significant intelligence like Skeleton Warriors, were perfect for various labor tasks. For example, when the Sprites went out to gather resources, they could have the Skeleton Warriors help with transportation. They could also be used for farming, cutting trees, and mining.
These cheap undead creatures required no payment and seemed to have no fatigue, though they might need specific conditions for survival, such as the presence of death energy. The Bone Training Ground was shrouded in a chilling, dark aura, much like a graveyard. Indeed, this place was a graveyard.
With the last surrounding Skeleton Warrior's skull crushed by the Champion-level Sprite, he slowly approached: "Master, the area is cleared."
The implication was clear: only the skull in Qin Muye's hand remained.
"Let's not kill it just yet. Follow me to explore the Bone Training Ground and see if there are any other valuable finds." Qin Muye casually tossed the skull to the Champion-level Sprite.
The Sprite caught it and firmly held the skull, which was still trying to bite him.
He felt that if the Bone Training Ground wasn't cleared in time, the difficulty level might have increased from 1st Tier to a higher level.
If he had come a few days later, the number of Elite-level Skeleton Warriors might have increased, and they might have even become 2nd Tier.
After all, this was a real world, not just a game.
