Chapter 10: Shisui's Shock
Chapter 10: Shisui's Shock
Noticing the commotion caused by Kurenai Yuhi, Feng Ye turned his head and, in that instant, recognized the person before him. Cocking his head, he said, "I'm sure Kurenai didn't mean to question the prestige of the Uchiha clan. Besides, it would be too one-sided to solely rely on personal opinions to judge a prestigious family like the Uchiha, who are known for their abundance of talented individuals."
"..."
Hearing Feng Ye's words, Shisui's tense expression softened slightly.
He had not intended to get involved with Feng Ye in the first place and saw no need to create unnecessary conflict. He had only spoken up to caution Kurenai against her slightly overboard remarks.
However...
In the next moment, Shisui's pupils suddenly contracted.
A hand had silently rested on his shoulder, causing his body to stiffen momentarily. The owner of that hand was none other than Feng Ye!
"How could this be...?"
Shisui's pupils constricted sharply, a hint of disbelief flashing in his eyes.
Feng Ye flashed a harmless smile at Shisui, then withdrew his hand and walked towards the classroom. Not far behind him, the 'Feng Ye' who had been standing in his original spot and conversing with Shisui suddenly transformed into white smoke and dissipated.
A clone!
The one left behind was a clone!
In that fleeting moment, Feng Ye had left a clone in his place while his true body instantly appeared next to Shisui!
As a genius himself, Shisui immediately understood what had happened, but even with this realization, he still couldn't help but draw in a sharp breath.
"Clone Technique and... Body Flicker Technique?"
"How is this possible... It's too fast..."
Feng Ye's true body had transformed into a clone and appeared beside him in the blink of an eye—it was unbelievably fast!
In other words, if they had been in a battle just now, Shisui would have been instantly defeated by Feng Ye without even realizing what had happened!
"This..."
Kurenai and Rin Nohara were also stunned for a moment.
They, too, were momentarily unable to process what had just occurred, or perhaps they simply hadn't seen how Feng Ye had left a clone in his place while his true body instantly appeared next to Uchiha Shisui.
The two women exchanged glances, each seeing a hint of shock in the other's eyes.
After a moment, they looked at Shisui, who was still standing in his original spot, then quickly turned and chased after Feng Ye in the direction he had left.
"..."
Shisui took a breath, forcing himself to calm the turmoil in his heart. He turned his head to look in the direction Feng Ye had left, and a hint of surprise still lingered in his eyes.
Everyone knew of Kakashi's reputation as a genius, and Feng Ye, who was often compared to him, was consistently described as 'average', 'ordinary', and 'lacking talent'. At this moment, Shisui could only think of one word to describe these assessments:
Blind!
Although he was unsure of Kakashi's true strength, Shisui was confident in declaring that Feng Ye's abilities, as displayed in that instant, were no less than Kakashi's and might even surpass them.
"Hoo..."
"Such power couldn't have been acquired suddenly. That guy has been hiding his true self, never intentionally revealing his exceptional talent. Even in the face of criticism, he remains unwavering..."
Shisui murmured to himself.
In this moment, his assessment of Feng Ye was—fearsome!
Compared to the hot-blooded Kakashi, Hatake Feng Ye, the older brother, possessed not only formidable strength but also a calm, restrained, and mature personality. There was no doubt that such a person was even more powerful than Kakashi.
Shisui took a deep breath, feeling the weight of his 'genius' title suddenly increase tenfold.
...
"Young Shisui Uchiwa's abilities back then were probably not inferior to Itachi's. However, I'm not sure when he opened his Mangekyo Sharingan and obtained the Kotoamatsukami ability."
Back in the classroom, Feng Ye stroked his chin in thought.
Since Shisui was one of the geniuses in the original story and had a somewhat arrogant attitude towards Kurenai, Feng Ye had decided to use a little trick to test if this future 'Body Flicker Shisui' could react in time. It seemed that he was still a little too slow.
Although they were unsure of what had transpired, it seemed that Feng Ye had startled Uchiha Shisui, as his demeanor and gaze had noticeably stiffened.
"Oh, I just greeted Uchiha Shisui. Don't worry about it," Feng Ye replied with a smile.
After all, with the Third Great Ninja War looming, it wasn't a problem to reveal a little bit of his strength.
Kurenai stared at Feng Ye, her eyes wide. "But he was clearly startled by you."
Feng Ye placed his textbook on the desk and contemplated for a moment. "Well, I do have two more years of experience with ninjutsu than him."
Although Feng Ye downplayed the incident, Kurenai knew that what had happened was far from ordinary. Uchiha Shisui was a genius renowned throughout the school!
To be able to startle Uchiha Shisui was certainly something to boast about.
However, Feng Ye acted as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened, chatting and laughing as he usually did. This only served to increase Kurenai's admiration for him, and in contrast to the boys who bragged about the slightest achievement, Feng Ye's personal charm was undeniably attractive.
"..."
Noticing Kurenai's gaze, Feng Ye sighed inwardly.
The look in her eyes seemed to suggest that she was already planning to have his children. Perhaps he should tone down his behavior a little, though he didn't think he had done anything too excessive.
Ah well.
It's good to be young.
Feng Ye longed to immerse himself in the life of a ninja-in-training at the Ninja Academy and enjoy the carefree days of youth, free from the burdens of the future—that had been his initial plan. But unfortunately, he knew he couldn't escape the weight of the world on his shoulders.
No matter how hard he tried to forget, the thoughts of the Third Ninja World War, the Nine-Tails' invasion, and Pain's destruction of Konoha would always creep back into his mind. This was a dangerous world, one where only those with sufficient strength could hope to find peace.
Feng Ye leaned back in his chair and stretched, gazing out the window as he murmured, "It would be nice if this were a world of peaceful, everyday life."
Kurenai tilted her head, looking at him quizzically. "Feng Ye, did you say something?"
"No, just thinking out loud," Feng Ye shook his head, a wry smile playing on his lips.
Even if he had truly transported to a world like Boruto or The Promised Neverland, there would still be all sorts of pressures and challenges to face, unless one was born at the very top.
To have the ability to manipulate time and arrive in this world before the Third Great Ninja War, and to be in the relatively peaceful Konoha, was already a relatively easy starting point. If he had started in the bloody Kirigakure, where students had to kill each other during their school days, or if he didn't have his time-manipulation ability, that would have been a hellish difficulty level.
With these thoughts in mind, Feng Ye waited for the day's test to begin, channeling chakra within his body.
"Speaking of which, the training method for the Eight Inner Gates shouldn't be too difficult..."
Feng Ye mused, manipulating the chakra within his body and trying to locate each of the Eight Inner Gates based on his memories.
He wanted to see if he could figure out the training method for the Eight Inner Gates on his own.
The true challenge of this forbidden technique lay not in its initial development but in the gradual improvement of each gate, requiring years of dedication and practice. Otherwise, Might Guy wouldn't have been able to discover it.
In simpler terms, mastering the Eight Inner Gates was like practicing writing a character over and over again. With enough perseverance and dedication, anyone could achieve it. On the other hand, techniques like the Flying Thunder God and the Reaper Death Seal were like solving world-class mathematical conjectures—impossible without the requisite talent.
