Chapter 10:
Chapter 10: "Felix's Wisdom Tooth"
Back home, Felix approached his workbench and began modifying the tooth:
First, he drilled a small hole at the bottom of the tooth;
Next, he smoothed out the hole;
Then, he placed the tooth under a microscope and used the engraving tools he had purchased from a micro-carving merchant to carve neat Ancient Runes, interlocking them to form a circuit.
This was a meticulous task, constructing a runic circuit in an extremely tiny space. Very few in the entire magical world could accomplish this. With the help of professional engraving tools and a top-of-the-line microscope, Felix reduced the difficulty of the entire magical process by two-thirds.
This was one of the fruits of his theory—the combination of Muggle ingenuity and magic.
Muggle wisdom wasn't just about their creative ideas; their tools for studying and transforming the world were equally fascinating.
In the Wizarding world, few could achieve this.
Pureblood Wizards aside, many of them either despised Muggles or, at best, tolerated them;
Halfbloods and Muggle-born Wizards, who might be more familiar with the Muggle world, primarily focused on magic during their crucial years from 11 to 18. By the time they reached adulthood, their thinking patterns were already set, making it nearly impossible to deeply integrate the strengths of both worlds.
...
It wasn't until the afternoon of the next day that Felix completed the construction of twelve runic circuits. Each circuit consisted of anywhere from three to fifteen Ancient Runes. As the final Ancient Rune was carved, he carefully connected the twelve circuits to form a single, cohesive unit.
The magical circuits lit up one by one, and the glow of magic blossomed in the confined, cramped space!
As the last circuit illuminated, the entire set of twelve circuits finally closed, forming a continuous and unified mystical pattern.
The small hole inside the tooth began to expand seamlessly, quickly growing to the size of a suitcase. The expansion didn't stop there. Felix waited quietly, savoring the results of his day and night of work, a satisfied smile on his lips.
Finally, the internal space of the tooth expanded to the size of a small room. Then, the concealment circuit activated, and the surging magical fluctuations rapidly diminished until they were barely detectable. The stabilization circuit secured the entire runic structure, and the reinforcement circuit made the tooth extremely durable and resistant to wear...
The most crucial part was the activation circuit, which would only engage under the conditions he had set.
Felix smiled contentedly. The Third Hideout was complete!
He took out his suitcase and transferred the items he had prepared into the tooth's cavity. Felix envisioned it as a "portable emergency storage space", containing not only seven or eight wands (obtained from Dark Wizards) but also various magical potions, a broomstick, a tent, and other items.
Having finished, Felix placed the tooth in his mouth and secured it with magic.
He smacked his lips, feeling no discomfort, and then ran his tongue over the wisdom tooth deep in his mouth. It felt no different from a real tooth. Dr. Granger's technique was truly excellent!
Felix sat quietly at his desk, his gaze calm and distant.
Most of his items, the less important and frequently used ones, were in his suitcase;
The more important items, his backup supplies, were divided into three parts, known as the Three Hideouts.
First Hideout: the gemstone ring on his left hand, storing some of his precious materials, potions, books, and research findings, inscribed with concealment runes;
The advantage was that it could be carried at all times, making it convenient for daily use;
But the downside is that frequent use will inevitably attract attention and make it difficult to escape the notice of a powerful Wizard.
Felix considers it a daily utility, something to draw fire when necessary.
The second hideout, located on his right wrist, is a runic circuit that stores only a spare wand.
Its greatest advantage is its extreme secrecy; conventional means are almost incapable of detecting it.
Felix sees it as a last-resort weapon for desperate times!
The third hideout, "Felix's wisdom tooth", stores a large amount of regular and strategic supplies.
Its advantage is also its extreme secrecy.
Felix's plan is that in the event of a major crisis, where he must go into hiding, it will provide him with ample resources.
"Things are pretty secure now."
Felix believes that his level of crisis awareness is rare in the Wizarding world. Perhaps some experienced Aurors might have similar thoughts, but their methods definitely can't match his.
Especially since he is proficient in Occlumency, conventional torture is absolutely incapable of making him reveal his secrets!
Of course, this is the worst-case scenario. Felix doesn't think he'll end up in such a situation. However, life is unpredictable, and it's always better to be prepared.
In the coming years, the shadow of "Voldemort" will loom over the British magical community.
Felix has never underestimated him. While this second Dark Lord might have some issues with his intelligence, he is undoubtedly a magical genius, with far more experience in researching magic than Felix. Not to mention, his research focuses on the dark and sinister aspects of "killing and death."
With less than a week before the start of the school term, Felix plans to relax. He has been extremely tired lately!
He plans to watch some movies, attend concerts, and enjoy good food. After all, he still has ten thousand pounds in his account! Most of his time in the future will be spent in the magical world, and this money can't be entirely converted into Galleons, so it would be a waste to leave it unspent!
Felix spent a significant amount of pounds on a series of Muggle items to use for entertainment during his free time.
In particular, he spent eight thousand pounds on a small movie projector, the kind used in cinemas, along with copies of classic films. What about the fact that Muggle items can't be used at Hogwarts?
Is that really a problem for him?
Similarly, music is essential. Felix considers himself a standard Slytherin and believes in enjoying life to the fullest.
As the start of the term approaches, Felix tidies up his room, gathering all his magical items into a suitcase—having a thief steal even one or two magical items could cause a significant hassle.
"Is there anything else I need to prepare?"
Felix thinks for a while, then suddenly slaps his wise little head. "Right, books!"
He remembers the Headmaster's hint during the interview. First, he buys a few pairs of colorful woolen socks, then goes on a shopping spree at various bookstores.
He buys books for himself and Christmas gifts for the professors. Whether they are useful or not, it's better to be prepared.
Felix plans to give his former Head of House a copy of "A Guide to Common Laboratory Experiments for Middle School Students", the one with lots of illustrations.
He hopes the professor will like it.
He is confident the professor will love it, after all, he is his best student!
Felix is increasingly looking forward to his new job.
