Chapter 1: The Territory - The Ruined Mage Tower
Chapter 1: The Territory - The Ruined Mage Tower
[Due to irresistible forces, the world has been destroyed. Congratulations, you have been granted access to the game "Era of Lords."]
[You have been assigned to the server: Magic Continent 9527. The total number of lords on this server: 1000.]
[You have received a bound item: Territory Stone.]
[Please note: Use the Territory Stone as soon as possible to claim your territory. "Era of Lords" will partially digitize you and generate your territory. If you do not, you may encounter random wild monsters in the open.]
[Please note: The Territory Stone will create your territory based on the surrounding environment, terrain, and other external factors, providing different initial resources such as buildings and units.]
[Please note: If you do not use the Territory Stone within one hour, your game eligibility will be revoked.]
Qin Muye opened his eyes and looked around, staring at the purple, diamond-shaped stone in his hand. For a moment, he felt like crying.
"Life was just getting good, and now it's all over. What did I do to deserve this?"
"If you had to take me, couldn't you have waited a couple of days? At least let me settle down first."
Qin Muye quickly adjusted his mindset. Since he couldn't change the world, he had to adapt to it.
He surveyed his surroundings. The starting conditions were actually quite favorable. He was near a mountain, by a river, and on a plain. Most importantly, he spotted a ruined structure not far away.
It looked like a tower, with two and a half floors, the third floor partially destroyed, as if it had been hit by something.
"I'm on the Magic Continent 9527 server. Could this tower be a mage tower?"
Memories from his past life flooded back as he scanned the area. Qin Muye decided to take a chance and place his territory in that tower.
The location of this suspected mage tower wasn't chosen randomly. The surroundings were excellent, with a water source and a plain, backed by a mountain. At least in terms of resources, there was nothing to worry about.
This was the best place he could find, at least from his perspective.
He could have chosen another location, but time was running out. He had only one hour, and he didn't want to risk losing his game eligibility.
So, he headed decisively toward the ruined mage tower, jogging to maintain a steady pace.
He rarely exercised, focusing instead on his studies, so he knew his physical condition was poor. He had to keep a steady pace, neither too fast nor too slow.
The mage tower seemed close, but the saying "the mountain looks close but the horse dies running to it" was true. With his poor physical condition, it took him fifteen minutes to reach it. Though he wasn't gasping for breath, he wasn't feeling great either.
Fortunately, the path was a plain with no vegetation to hide potential threats. He didn't want to encounter a wild monster and find out what would happen if he lost his game eligibility.
Along the way, he saw some scattered resources but didn't pick them up. He tried and found that he could pick them up but not carry them away unless he wanted to keep them on him at all times. So, he decided to place his territory first and come back for the resources later.
Reaching the entrance of the ruined mage tower, he found the door partially destroyed, as if cut by a sharp blade. He stepped inside, the dust thick, but the lighting was decent, not too dark.
"Surprising, the ground floor alone must be around a thousand square meters," Qin Muye noted, impressed.
The first floor seemed to be a hall. He climbed the stairs to the second floor, where he found several rooms, most of which were severely damaged.
There wasn't much of value, except for two books he found. The text on the books was indecipherable, like some ancient script, making his head spin.
He glanced at the countdown, noting he had thirty-two minutes left. He wasn't in a hurry and decided to search for more valuable items.
After entering, he confirmed from the scattered, damaged equipment that this was most likely a mage tower. He was concerned that if he placed his territory and the mage tower was refreshed, he might lose any items he found. So, he decided to search thoroughly, hoping to find something useful before placing his territory.
Since there was still plenty of time, with a good half-hour left, he couldn't afford to waste it.
After wandering around for a while, his final haul was only two books, which left him feeling quite disappointed.
So, he returned to the first floor and placed the territory stone down.
Would you like to unfold your territory here? Yes/No
"YES!" Moyer Qin looked at the text that appeared before him and decisively chose "Yes."
Unfolding your territory now.
Detected location: Ruined Mage Tower. Upon unfolding, your initial resources will be designated as related resources, and certain structures will be inherited.
Data processing and awakening of your Lord Talent in progress.
Moyer Qin watched the scene unfold with great excitement.
"Awakening Lord Talent? I get it. Hundredfold boosts, text prompts, and upgrading units, I love this kind of stuff."
As the territory stone merged into the ground, an invisible light spread out, forming a protective barrier.
Territory unfolded, half-data processing complete. Welcome to the Era of Lords.
You have received: 7-day Newbie Protection (For 7 days, neither other lords nor wild monsters can actively attack or pursue you or your territory. Remaining time: 6 days 23 hours 59 minutes).
You have received: 30-day Adaptation Period (For 30 days, wild monsters will not actively attack your territory, and you will receive 30 days of Basic Reconnaissance. Remaining time: 29 days 23 hours 59 minutes).
Basic Reconnaissance: Allows you to investigate enemy information up to your own rank.
"So, that barrier is for protection, and there's a newbie period and an adaptation period. Looks like the world is pretty dangerous."
Moyer Qin first opened his territory panel to see what differences his Ruined Mage Tower had.
Territory: Ruined Mage Tower
Rank: 1
Repair: 1000 units of ore, 1000 units of wood
Note: The Mage Tower is in a ruined state and cannot be upgraded until it is repaired.
Buildings:
Resource Storage (Level 1): Used to store various resources (Expansion: 10 units of ore, 10 units of wood)
Mana Pool (Dry): The energy core of the Mage Tower (Repair: 1 Earth Elemental Core, 1 Water Elemental Core, 1 Fire Elemental Core, 1 Wind Elemental Core, 10000 units of ore, 10000 units of wood, 100 units of gems, 100 units of crystals, 100 units of sulfur, 100 units of mercury)
Moyer Qin looked at the list of buildings, especially the long list of materials needed to repair the dry Mana Pool, and felt a bit overwhelmed. The materials required, aside from the four elemental cores, seemed somewhat familiar.
"From the Basic Reconnaissance, I can tell this is just like Heroes of Might and Magic," Moyer Qin muttered.
The Mana Pool couldn't be upgraded until it was repaired, much like his Ruined Mage Tower.
However, he suspected the difficulty would be considerable, but it was a pleasant surprise considering how much effort he had put in.
Common Resources:
Food: 100
Ore: 100
Wood: 100
Special Resources:
Gems: 0
Crystals: 0
Sulfur: 0
Mercury: 0
"Alright, initial resources are probably the same for everyone. Next, it should be about building."
Moyer Qin looked at his inventory, which contained two building blueprints, likely related to the Mage Tower.
Farm Blueprint: After learning, you can build a farm. Requirement: 10 units of food
Sprite Workshop Blueprint: After learning, you can build a Sprite Workshop. Requirement: 50 units of ore, 50 units of wood
"Ah, this isn't quite what I expected," Moyer Qin said, looking at the two blueprints. He had a feeling he might end up being one of those extras who get called "bigshot" with a 666.
