Chapter 1: The Magic of Magic
Chapter 1: The Magic of Magic
In a three-story building near the village of St. Cackborough, an eleven-year-old Kyle Jopab stands by the window, intently examining a piece of parchment in his hand.
Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore (Merlin First-Class Medal, Chief Wizard of the Wizarding World, President of the International Confederation of Wizards)
Dear Mr. Joba,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Enclosed is a list of required books and items.
The term begins on September 1st. We await your reply by owl no later than July 31st.
Sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress
...
Yes, it was the acceptance letter to Hogwarts.
Ever since Kyle traveled back in time eleven years ago, he had been waiting for this day.
As for why he was so certain, it was simple. There were several other special families living not far from his home.
One of the families Kyle was most familiar with was the Lovegoods, the editors of the Quibbler.
And then there was the Weasley family.
The latter's peculiar architecture and a whole family of redheads instantly confirmed the nature of this world to Kyle.
It is worth mentioning that living here also indicated that Kyle's family in this life also came from a wizarding background.
His father, Chris Jopab, worked at the Ministry of Magic as the Deputy Director of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, and he was also the Head of the Beast Division. Thanks to his family's innate ability to communicate with magical creatures, he was a renowned animal magician and one of the few students of Newt Scamander.
His mother, Diana, also worked at the Ministry, in the Department of Mysteries, but Kyle had no idea what she did there. He tried various methods to find out discreetly, but all his attempts failed. It was clear that his parents had a strong sense of secrecy and never revealed even the slightest detail.
As for his family background... Well, since none of his ancestors were particularly illustrious, it could be described as ordinary compared to famous surnames like Dumbledore and Grindelwald.
Nevertheless, Kyle was already content with this. At least both his parents were wizards, and getting into Hogwarts was a certainty.
Unless he was a Squib.
But that possibility had been ruled out when he was three years old, during his first magical outburst.
Although he had known this day would come, Kyle couldn't help but feel excited when the owl pecked open his bedroom window, carrying the envelope.
He cherished the parchment like a precious treasure, even taking it to bed with him, and every now and then, he would glance at it.
...
"Dear, you've been staring at that acceptance letter for three days now. Can you put it down, please? I assure you it's genuine!"
Chris looked at his son, who was beaming with joy, and reminded him with a hint of exasperation, "Don't forget we're meeting the Weasleys next door today to go to Diagon Alley. Let's not keep them waiting."
"Okay, Dad, I'm coming."
Upon hearing this, Kyle quickly put away the acceptance letter he had read countless times, hurriedly got up, and knocked on a nearby wooden post, "Groot, I'm leaving."
As soon as he finished speaking, a small green creature jumped out and waved at Kyle.
Kyle's family did have magical creatures, but not many. Apart from Groot, the Bowtruckle, there was also a Kneazle named Tom.
Although Chris's position as Deputy Director of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures meant he could easily keep a dozen or more magical creatures, he chose not to. Even Groot and Tom were only allowed to stay because they stubbornly refused to leave.
It wasn't that Chris disliked magical creatures; he believed that magical creatures should not be kept by wizards.
Keeping them as pets was the only option.
This middle-aged gentleman, known for his gentle demeanor and somewhat old-fashioned ways in the Ministry of Magic, held this view with unwavering conviction.
His opinion was also supported by Newt Scamander.
Newt also believed that magical creatures should live in the wild, and that had always been the practice.
As for why Newt's magical case contained so many magical creatures, it was purely due to Newt's unique physical condition.
Kyle had met this elderly man, and not just once, so he could be certain.
Just like some magical Grim Reaper student, Newt Scamander also had a similar physical condition.
Kyle clearly remembered that when he was five years old, he witnessed a Demiguise dive into Newt's arms while strolling through the garden.
Demiguises were naturally masters of apparition, not particularly intelligent, and unlike other magical creatures, they didn't intentionally hide themselves. However, they possessed a strong sense of territoriality and an acute awareness of danger.
As soon as they sensed the presence of wizards or other threatening beings, they would immediately disappear.
In the description of the Demiguise in the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the first line reads, "Best admired from afar, as they are impossible to approach."
Yet, this very Demiguise managed to land right in Newt's arms, precisely and without a single error.
It was utterly absurd.
And when he was seven, still accompanying Newt, he encountered a Fire Lizard.
At eight, he found an injured Unicorn.
At ten, he nearly became a Fire Crab's cauldron.
...
Among these magical creatures, some had escaped after being smuggled into the British Wizarding World, while others had mysteriously wandered in. They always managed to appear beside Newt in the most unimaginable ways.
And all this happened while Newt mostly stayed at home.
Back then, when he was traveling the world with a suitcase full of magical creatures, returning them home, the situation was far more critical than it is now.
With every creature he returned, a dozen or more new magical creatures would appear. Over time, it was no wonder his suitcase was always full.
...
With such a unique talent, it's no surprise that Newt was almost on every blacklist in the Ministry of Magic.

After all, these magical creatures had terrible tempers before meeting Newt, especially the injured and pregnant ones, who would explode at the slightest provocation.
Imagine you're leisurely enjoying afternoon tea on the street, and suddenly, a raging Sphinx or an Erumpent appears out of nowhere... Well, that scene alone is enough to make anyone break out in a cold sweat.
So, what's so great about Gellert or Voldemort, the Dark Lord? They have to do their own dirty work for destruction? How weak.
Look at Newt, he doesn't even need to lift a finger to make someone disappear. He just needs to buy a plane ticket, have a short vacation, drink some coffee, enjoy the scenery, and he's done. No consequences to worry about.
Tina really is great. With her own strength, she managed to seal Newt by her side. It's no exaggeration to say that the whole world owes her a Merlin First-Class Medal.
The British Wizarding World, however, has suffered.
According to incomplete statistics, since Newt settled in Dorset, incidents related to magical creatures in the Ministry have been increasing exponentially. The British Wizarding World has inexplicably become the hottest destination for smugglers to sell their illicit goods, without a doubt.
Fortunately, though there have been countless incidents over the years, none have caused any serious impact. At most, some unlucky soul might have suffered a minor injury.
As Newt's birthplace, this place probably has some passive buffs as well.
However, Chris wasn't as lucky. Due to his job, he had to work overtime for several days every now and then.
But Kyle could see that Chris was enjoying it.
...
As they approached the door, Kyle realized that besides Chris, his mother, Diana, had also returned early from the Ministry, a rare occurrence. She stood there, her black hair perfectly styled, wearing a black and white ceremonial robe that suited her well. When she looked at Kyle, her light blue eyes were filled with tenderness.
Elegant and intellectual.
This was Kyle's impression of Diana all along.
Subconsciously, Kyle turned to look at Chris... Well, he was a bit handsome, and one could still see traces of his youthful charm. They made a good-looking couple.
Most importantly, Chris wasn't bald, even though he was already in his forties. The distance between his hairline and eyebrows remained about an inch, a stark contrast to Mr. Weasley next door.
With such powerful genes, Kyle's appearance was also impressive. Among the people he knew, he could easily rank first. At such a young age, he already showed signs of becoming a threat to the nation.
Of course, this wasn't important to Kyle, and he never paid much attention to it. He didn't rely on his looks for a living.
"Sorry, I'm late," Kyle said apologetically as he walked between the two.
"If you had put away that letter, you probably wouldn't have been late, and Hogwarts wouldn't have left Britain because you didn't take care of the letter," Chris joked, looking at Kyle with a smirk.
Well, it was a joke, sort of. At least Chris found it hilarious after telling it.
As for Kyle, although he didn't understand what Chris was laughing about, he still forced a smile, considering it a favor to his father.
Fortunately, this situation didn't last long.
"Okay, it's getting late. We should leave," Diana said with a smile, interrupting the awkward interaction between father and son. She took Kyle's hand and said, "There's a lot to buy for the enrollment, and we don't want to keep the Weasley family waiting too long. It's impolite."
With a crisp crack, they disappeared from the spot.
Seeing this, Chris quickly Apparated to follow them.
