Chapter 1: The Boss Is Me
Chapter 1: The Boss Is Me
"Roar——!"
A thunderous roar echoed from afar.
It shook the mountains, made the earth tremble, sent birds and beasts fleeing in terror, and startled the young beast buried deep within the cave—awakening it in panic and confusion.
"Hiss…"
What on earth is happening?
Lin Kai blinked, as if just torn from a nightmare. His mind was foggy, disoriented. But the world before him wasn’t his familiar room. No sleek, high-tech game pod. No advanced VR rig or neural interface. Instead, there was darkness—warm, damp, and ancient. Hard rock walls. And scattered across the floor, a few scattered gold coins.
Where… am I?
A splitting headache surged through his skull. Floods of memories poured in—fantasy novels filled with magic, memories of his past life as a player…
He remembered accepting a quest from a super-rich player: Clear the Stone Giant’s Fingers in the Giant’s Ravine. He’d fought for over eight hours straight, pushing his body to the limit. Finally, too exhausted, he’d logged off to rest—just for a nap—planning to jump back in when he woke.
But now… he wasn’t in his room.
He was here.
And something about his body felt… off.
Struggling to rise, he instinctively crawled on all fours toward a small pool of water nearby.
"Dragon?"
Before him stood a creature covered in fine, crimson scales. Its golden-yellow eyes burned with primal ferocity—cold, merciless, and terrifying. Though its body was still three meters long, clearly that of a juvenile, it already bore the unmistakable signs of a future monster: razor-sharp teeth, clawed limbs, and powerful, sinewy limbs.
Yes. This was a dragon.
A young one.
And not just any dragon—the most powerful and merciless among the Five-Colored Dragons: the Red Dragon.
The air reeked of sulfur. From within its throat, a volcano seemed to simmer—ready to erupt at any moment. The stench made Kai’s nostrils burn.
He sneezed violently—his nose bursting with steam and smoke.
A semi-transparent blue HUD flickered into view before him.

So I’ve been transported to Ailezegai…
And turned into Brother Kai?
After staring at the data for a long moment, Lin Kai—now known as Kai Xiusu—finally pieced together the truth.
And the past crashed down on him like a storm.
Ailezegai—a holographic MMORPG based on the classic Dungeons & Dragons of the 20th century.
No known publisher. No official origin. Yet it wielded technology so advanced it defied belief—claiming to create a true world. At its peak, it boasted over a hundred million concurrent players worldwide.
From ordinary citizens to CEOs, politicians, and global elites—millions lived in its depths. Some even spent their entire lives in the game pod, eating, sleeping, breathing Ailezegai.
The game’s impact was so massive it reshaped the real world. Major updates caused market shifts. Legendary gear sold for millions—worth more than gold, even rivaling the rise of the digital age’s original cryptocurrency.
And Kai Xiusu was one of its most legendary players.
Now known as Brother Kai, his true name was Kai Xiusu Claudew Noirikexius—the first World Boss of Ailezegai 1.0’s [Anzeta Storms] expansion. The Evil Red Dragon who made a pact with the Deep Abyss Demon, the Ashen Flame, the Mountain Fury, the Player Life Reaper, the Newbie Nightmare.
In the early days, during the [Frostfire Wrath] quest, thousands of new players were roasted alive by his flames. Trapped in the sky, they couldn’t strike back. Dozens of deaths per player. Burnt corpses piled up like mountains. Even future world-class players fell. Only by sacrificing countless lives in suicide raids did they finally defeat him.
That victory earned him an immortal title—Brother Kai.
Even now, in the game’s 4.0 version, with level caps raised to 20, players ventured into the Galactic Galloping, Interdimensional, and Multiverse. Yet the legend endured.
"Kai Ge’s Barbecue—Unrivaled Under the Sun."
A tale of a Red Dragon who mastered the art of Human Barbecue, turning champions into charred skeletons across realms.

But when was this timeline?
"ROAR!"
Another thunderous bellow echoed from beyond the nest, shattering Kai Xiusu’s thoughts.
The air itself felt heavier—charged with oppressive power. The young dragon trembled, but forced himself to stay. He crept forward, heart pounding, and peeked out of the cave entrance.
High above, a massive Red Dragon flapped her enormous wings, sending gusts of wind rippling across the valley. She loomed above the land, surveying her domain with cold disdain.
That was his mother.
A mature, powerful Red Dragon—her body stretching over twenty meters.
"Half-Human, Half-Elf mongrel—get out of my territory!"
"Do you even know who you’re facing?"
"Before you stands the favored offspring of Queen Tiamat herself—the sovereign of Cloudspire Peak, the noble and mighty Red Dragon Aklennia!"
Her voice dripped with arrogance—her bloodline’s natural pride.
Below, standing firm against the giant, was a warrior clad in Dark Gold Armor. Her face was blurred, shrouded in a faint glow. Only her half-elf features—slightly pointed ears—gave her away. Her silhouette suggested a woman.
She stood with sword drawn, calm, resolute.
"Monster," she said, her voice sharp as steel, "your arrogance blinds you. But I see your end. You will fall."
Her gaze locked onto the dragon above.
"You steal unjustly. You murder innocents. Your deeds have shattered the world’s Justice and Order."
"No matter who stands behind you—no matter what god you serve—I, a sworn Paladin, will make you pay. With your life."
An Oath of Vengeance.
With a swift motion, she drew her Silver Sword—the legendary Dawnblade.
The Red Dragon snorted, then let out a deafening shriek. She plunged from the sky, wings outstretched, jaws wide—ready to tear the warrior apart.
From her throat erupted a torrent of fiery breath, so intense it warped the air itself.
Kai Xiusu’s mind flashed.
Ah…
Now I remember.
Main Quest: [Cold Night Fury]
Ten years ago, the Half-Elf Paladin “Dawnblade” Ria slew Kai Xiusu Claudew Noirikexius’s mother. The young dragon fled in terror, hiding in the Anstica Mountains, waiting for revenge. Now, bound to an Ancient Demon deep within the earth, he has become the Ashen Flame. His evil army is rising. He will shatter Justice and Order, and turn the Northlands into ash.
This was the moment.
The very moment the game’s history began.
The ten years before the player’s arrival.
And in Kai Xiusu’s eyes, the Half-Elf Paladin was level 20—on the verge of Legendary status. She even had Divine Favor—a true world-class powerhouse.
A mature Red Dragon’s Challenge Rating was only 17. Even if it had reached Legendary level, it wouldn’t stand a chance against a Power Player like Ria—especially one who’d already ascended to Legend in the 4.0 version.
She was a pivotal NPC in the [Elven Kingdom] main quest line.
His mother was doomed.
The Red Dragon shook its head. There was no time to dwell.
With clumsy, youthful wings, it sprinted back into the nest—already planning its escape.
But first…
Before fleeing the nest, it had one last task.
"By Tiamat’s name… this is a Red Dragon’s Vault."
"Hope it’s not too meager…"
Kai Xiusu exhaled a plume of sulfuric smoke, then stretched his stiff wings, flexing his body.
