Chapter 1: Li Wu
Chapter 1: Li Wu
Inside the medical room of Quancheng No. 3 High School, a boy with an ordinary appearance, akin to that of a principal, lay on a hospital bed, clutching his head.
Beside him stood a small skeleton, barely a meter tall, its pale frame exuding an eerie charm with a hint of adorable clumsiness.
Yes, this unsteady little skeleton was one of the main reasons why Li Wu, the boy on the bed, had such a splitting headache.
"You've already time-traveled, so why couldn't you let me travel earlier? Just an hour earlier, that's all I ask! If I had traveled just an hour earlier, with my talents and looks, there's no way I would've summoned such an unlucky creature!"
Li Wu felt particularly depressed at this moment.
Time-traveling should have been a good thing.
Traveling from his early twenties into the body of an eighteen-year-old high school student should have been even better.
Even the world seemed to have transformed after the travel.
In a once harmonious and stable society, the emergence of monsters and the existence of secret realms, which defied scientific explanation, should have been a cause for joy and celebration for Li Wu.
However, Li Wu couldn't bring himself to feel happy. The reason was that his starting situation seemed a bit dire.
Just an hour ago...
The school had organized a summoning ceremony for the senior students before the start of summer vacation.
For students aspiring to become professional summoners, this was not only their first summoning but also the most crucial one in their lives.
This summoning would significantly impact their future as summoners, akin to the importance of the college entrance exam in Li Wu's previous life.
But during the ceremony, Li Wu, or rather, his predecessor, had summoned the small skeleton standing beside him as his initial summon beast.
When the little skeleton appeared, Li Wu's predecessor, in a moment of excitement, chose to 'die' and fainted.
Subsequently, he was brought here, and then Li Wu time-traveled.
After initially absorbing the memories left by his predecessor, Li Wu also felt a bit shaken.
Looking at the small skeleton before him, Li Wu thought that perhaps, maybe, he should also consider 'dying' for a bit.
"Knock knock knock."
As Li Wu struggled with the decision of whether to 'die' or not, a knocking sound echoed, followed by a particularly crisp voice.
"Li Wu, are you awake?"
Li Wu recognized the voice; it was his childhood sweetheart, Pang Doudou. Although her surname seemed incorrect, this nickname seemed more fitting.
"Yeah!"
As Li Wu responded, a massive, rotund figure squeezed into the room with caution.
This was none other than Li Wu's childhood friend, whose real name was Pang Doudou, but was nicknamed 'Fat Doudou'.
Also eighteen years old, she stood at a height of 1.7 meters, and weighed over 200 kilograms.
Fat Doudou approached the bed, holding a piglet she had just summoned in her arms, and asked with concern, "Li Wu, are you okay?"
Li Wu glanced at the piglet in Fat Doudou's arms and then looked at her, rubbing his head.
"I feel much better now!"
Indeed, the sense of happiness was relative.
Comparing his situation to that of his newfound, time-travel-induced friend, Li Wu felt that his circumstances were actually not too bad.
Although the little skeleton was a bit lackluster, it should still be better than his friend's pig, and Li Wu's looks far surpassed hers.
"That's good!"
Fat Doudou, completely unaware of Li Wu's thoughts, heard that he felt better and smiled widely.
But as she smiled, Li Wu's mood soured.
"Don't smile. I've told you countless times to stop eating junk food and start dieting. When you smile, your flesh jiggles."
"It's not fair that in other people's stories, their childhood sweethearts are always these beautiful girls, but in my case, here you are, a chubby one."
As soon as the words left Li Wu's mouth, he froze. He hadn't intended to say something like that, but it seemed like Pang Doudou was used to it.
Instead of getting angry, Pang Doudou obediently stopped smiling at Li Wu's request.
Li Wu felt a twinge of discomfort as he watched her. His words were influenced by the memories of his previous life, and they didn't truly reflect his intentions.
Pang Doudou's meek response surprised him, and he felt even more uneasy.
"Hey, I'm not mad at you. How can you let me bully you like this?" Li Wu asked, a mix of exasperation and amusement in his voice.
Pang Doudou scratched her head, offering a shy smile in response.
Li Wu sighed, feeling deflated. "Never mind, I'm going out." He got up from the hospital bed and started walking towards the door.
Pang Doudou quickly followed, holding her Mini Pig in her arms.
The Little Skeleton, which had been standing by Li Wu's bed, also began to move, its small bones clinking as it walked unsteadily behind Li Wu.
The Little Skeleton walked slowly, its bones rattling with each step. It didn't get far before it fell with a loud 'clatter', but it didn't feel pain or cry out.
It stood up, determined to keep following Li Wu, only to fall again after a few steps.
This cycle of getting up, following, and falling repeated several times, causing Pang Doudou to feel both worried and afraid.
She was hesitant to touch this Necromantic creature, and she was also concerned that Li Wu might get angry if she tried to help it.
Just when Pang Doudou was at a loss, Li Wu, who had been walking ahead, stopped. He sighed, turned around, and walked back to pick up the Little Skeleton.
As Li Wu lifted the Little Skeleton, his expression was momentarily surprised, but he quickly regained his composure. He took large strides, leading the unsteady Little Skeleton away.
Pang Doudou was stunned, unsure why, but she felt like today's Li Wu was a bit odd, not quite like himself...
