Chapter 1: Awakening
Chapter 1: Awakening
Li Qian found himself transported to a Beastmaster world, and with it, he awakened a Research System.
Initially, he was utterly bewildered by this turn of events, feeling like his newfound power had gone awry.
It wasn't until he attempted to create a research task that he realized it wasn't the power that was amiss, but rather his own lack of understanding.
[Research Task: The Evolution of the Carp]
The Carp, a common pet beast, is often referred to as the "Four Wastes" of the pet beast world.
It possesses only one skill—'Fish Leap'.
Not only is it easily bested by other pet beasts, but even an ordinary person can handle it effortlessly.
And what's more, it's incredibly easy to raise.
With its red and white fins, it's a sight to behold when they spread.
Many families keep Carps as ornamental fish due to their beauty.
Li Qian's family also had one in their aquarium.
Three months ago, when he first arrived in this world and awakened the Research System, it was the sight of the Carp in the aquarium that prompted him to create this research task on a whim.
Little did he know that this decision would bring him a delightful surprise.
Li Qian recalled a famous quote from a Master Breeder on television: "There are no waste pet beasts, only waste Beastmasters."
The Carp was a perfect example of this statement.
Under specific and harsh conditions, a tiny fraction of Carps, in rare circumstances, are rumored to evolve into a Green Scaled Dragon with a potential akin to a Dominator.
Unfortunately, such cases are incredibly rare, and even when Breeder's encounter them, it's always in the wild.
Despite Breeder's efforts, the Beastmaster world has yet to establish a fixed evolution path from Carp to Green Scaled Dragon.
Since creating this research task three months ago, Li Qian has exhaustively studied Carps through the internet, the Beastmaster High School library, and consultations with his Breeding class teacher. He can confidently say he knows Carps inside out.
However, looking at the system panel's progress indicator [Current Task Progress: 55%], he couldn't help but shake his head in dismay.
It seems there's a good reason why no Breeder has successfully established a fixed evolution path for Carps.
This research is indeed challenging.
Currently, Li Qian can affirm that the evolution of Carps is undoubtedly linked to its sole skill, which is also its racial skill, 'Fish Leap'.
It's likely that this skill needs to be perfected.
But that alone won't suffice.
Otherwise, the evolution path would've been discovered long ago.
What's the missing condition? Li Qian is perplexed.
If he knew this beforehand, he wouldn't have started this research.
Now, he has no choice but to persevere.
As the system panel only displays one task, it means he can't create another research task until this one is completed.
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Li Qian sits cross-legged on his bed, commencing his meditation.
His Psychic Energy has reached 9.9.
Just 0.1 away from awakening his Beastmaster Space and Beastmaster Talent.
The meditation technique was taught by his Beastmaster High School meditation teacher.
It can enhance a Beastmaster's Psychic Energy.
Only when the Psychic Energy meets the requirement, can the Beastmaster Space and Beastmaster Talent be awakened.
With only three months left until graduation from Beastmaster High School, it's imperative to awaken the Beastmaster Space.
After graduation, even if one were to awaken their abilities, unless they possessed an extraordinary Beastmaster Talent and secured a special recruitment offer, all hope would be lost.
Recently, Li Qian's parents had started considering spending some money to purchase psychic energy potions for him.
Li Qian, however, wasn't too concerned.
He could sense that his breakthrough was imminent and didn't require three months.
Sitting cross-legged on the bed, his consciousness wandered in a pitch-black space.
Suddenly, within the darkness, a faint blue light began to flicker.
The blue light expanded, growing larger, and eventually formed a space with dimensions of about ten meters.
It was like a pale blue cube appearing in the dark night sky.
On the bed, Li Qian slowly opened his eyes, a faint smile curving his lips, "This is my Beastmaster Space, it's finally awakened."
After muttering to himself, he closed his eyes again, focusing his attention.
The next moment, a stream of information flooded into his mind.
Along with the information came a chill, but it entered not his mind, but his eyes.
"My talent is the True Sight Eye," he thought.
Li Qian nodded slightly.
The True Sight Eye, as the name suggests, allows one to see the true information of a pet beast.
This talent, however, has its limitations.
Firstly, the distance to the pet beast cannot be too far.
Secondly, unless the pet beast is completely open and unguarded, one can only see the information of a pet beast that is no more than one realm higher than their own strength.
Not bothering with these thoughts, Li Qian got up and left the room, heading to the living room.
Turning on the living room lights, Li Qian's attention fell on a large fish tank beside the TV cabinet.
Inside the tank, a half-meter-long carp with red and black scales was swimming leisurely.
As his gaze focused, the Beastmaster Talent activated.
A row of information appeared before his eyes:
[Name: Carp]
[Attribute: Water]
[Level: Third Rank Ordinary]
[Potential: Ordinary]
[Skill: Fish Leap (Perfect)]
This was all the information about the carp he had been raising.
Surprisingly, the Fish Leap skill of this carp had reached the Perfect level.
But thinking about it, it made sense. This carp had been raised by his grandfather, who had passed away five years ago. Calculating, this carp was older than him.
It wasn't impossible for a skill to reach the Perfect level.
Looking at the information before him, Li Qian, with the help of his Research System, realized that he seemed more suited to become a Breeder than a Beastmaster.
Thinking about this, he couldn't help but recall the Research Task he had established.
The evolution method of the carp.
It was related to skills, so it was necessary to try and improve the Fish Leap skill level.
However, the highest skill level was Perfect.
'It's not possible to surpass Perfect, is it?'
As he was thinking this, suddenly, a system prompt sounded in his mind.
[Inspiration Points +1]
[Current Progress: 56%]
Hearing this system prompt, Li Qian was stunned.
Could it be that there was a skill level beyond Perfect?
This way, the carp's evolution could surpass the Perfect level.
