CHAPTER 8 - Broken Promise.
Chapter 8: Broken Promise.
Meanwhile,
At the castle, Cole was looking at his wife whom he had used his powers to put asleep for two days. He was however more concerned that the guards he had sent out had still not found his daughter. His wife would be so angry and worried if she were awake that she would literally bring down the castle.
'I myself am going to die from worry', Cole thought to himself. 'Where in the world could Areida be? Where could she be?"
"Cole", his sister, Hannah, called out. Hearing his sister call his name broke him out of his reverie. She was one of the few people allowed into the room as she was his only friend. Apart from her, Zarin was the only other person allowed. Damien wasn't because Cole felt that he
would kill him if he found out what he did to his sister.
"Oh, Hannah you're here", Cole said, rising up to greet her. She was his older sister after all.
"Cole, are you going to keep her sleeping for weeks until you find Areida. You sent Claressa away in pretense of a hunting trip. Your son hasn't seen his mother for two days. You know Esmeralda has a very bad temper. How do you think she will react when she wakes up?", she
chided him seriously.
"Hannah are you on my side or against me? Yes, I am going to keep her sleeping for weeks or even months until Areida is found. I'm only doing this until Areida is found then I will wake her up and all will be well"
"You're not serious, are you? You've got it all planned out. But how are you sure that Areida will be found?"
"Don't you ever say that again!", Cole shouted in anger.
Hannah stepped back after hearing his voice and seeing his eyes turn red. She said in a gentler voice,"I hope that this will not be the death of you, Cole". Then she turned and went out of the room.
Unknown to the king, Clark was waiting at the end of the hallway for Hannah for information. He had been doing this for the past two days.
Hannah, on the other hand, didn't tell him that his father had put his mother to sleep.
"So?", he inquired.
She pulled him by his ear."That's not how to greet your aunt. Didn't you learn manners or did you flunk ettiquete class?", she said at the same time still pulling his ear.
"Ow;ow, Aunt Hannah. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Please let go. At this rate, my ear's going to be red", he said while also desperately trying to remove
her hand from his ear.
Only when he had begged her enough, did she finally release his ear.
"Your mother's fine. Your father's taking care of her. No need to worry"
"Aunt Hannah, what do you mean by 'no need to worry'? Knowing my mom, she should be walking around the gardens with her court ladies by
now"
"I'm sorry, Clark. But that is all I can tell you. Your father is not going to be happy when he finds out that I'm telling you what you're no supposed to know"
"You're hiding something from me, Aunt Hannah. What is it?"
"I'm sorry, Clark. But seriously, I can't tell you"
She stepped back an opened a portal, then walked right into it. Clark just stood there looking stunned and then ruffled his hair in fustration
before walking away from there because he didn't want his father to catch him on this floor of the castle.
