The open door had let in an excited Madeline who had slept outside of the door when she had found out that Henry didn't want her to sleep in his bed tonight . He didn't want the dog to accidentally put weight on Ellie as her body as still quite fragile .

The dog jumped up to have a seat next to him as Henry looked outside . She was such a simple soul with straightforward wants and needs . He wished he could offer the same to Ellie, but his heart was torn .
