Chapter 94 - Blocked

Because of the apocalypse rain, many of the small bases had been destroyed. The people that were able to survive in these small bases were now risking their lives in order to reach the larger bases.

Tianlong was one of Tianqi city's largest bases, and people were able to learn about the base through the apocalypse watch forum. The dawning of the second apocalypse had caused many to be run out of their homes. Even so shortly after the dawning of the apocalypse, many people had gathered outside of Tianlong base, Lin Feng guessed that in time many more would come from even further locations. When that time came, Tianlong base would really be fit to burst with the amount of people.

All the people were waiting on this side of the drawbridge, but they could only stay here and wait. Even though Lin Feng was a cultivator, people completely filled the bridge, leaving no space to get through. They couldn't even drive through the crowd of people, it wasn't a question of ability, but rather on how realistic that choice would be.

Lin Feng looked around the crowds of people, and saw humans for the most part, some of them even had torn or ripped clothing. He could tell from their appearances that they were people that came from places where even finding food to eat was a struggle.

The convoy slowly made its way forward, and the many people saw the vehicles and moved to the sides. The people were poor and hungry, but they weren't dumb and knew that a convoy like this definitely wasn't put together by an average group of people. Even the cultivators in this crowd stepped out of the way in order to avoid making trouble for themselves.

Even though the crowd parted for the convoy to make its way through, it still took half an hour to make it to the front of the gate.

If seeing the wall from a distance was impressive, then seeing the wall from the base was awe-inspiring. The entire wall was made from a mossy green brick structure, appearing incredibly solid.

The side of the Tianlong gate had a guard post that everyone had to go through if they wanted to enter the base. People quickly cycled through the guard post and soon Lin Feng and the convoy made it to the gate where a guard then waved for them to stop.

"Vehicles are not allowed into the base, please find somewhere else to park them."

The guard spoke as he came up to the cars.

The guard wore the uniform of Tianlong base, a simple black outfit with a rifle on his back. Every guard that Lin Feng could see wore the same outfit and carried the same weapon, much more regulated and professional then at Zhanlang or Nanshan base.

Qian Zongguan exited the vehicle in front of Lin Feng.

"Vehicles were allowed entrance a few days ago, why can't they enter today?"

Qian Zongguan frowned as he questioned the guard.

Qian Zongguan had been searching for his sect master through the bases in Tianqi city whether they were big or small. The population of Tianlong base was large, and Qian Zongguan had been to the base no small number of times. Before, as long as Tianlong base was paid, it freely allowed the passage of vehicles. Qian Zongguan didn't expect that they would suddenly change this rule and be blocked by the gate guards.

Qian Zongguan's plan at first was to impress Lin Feng with these vehicles and showcase the power of the sect in order to have him stop declining the position of sect master. But Qian Zongguan didn't expect that he would lose face and be denied entrance to the base completely.

"We just received the order to not let any vehicles enter the base."

The guard stared at Qian Zongguan as he responded.

Tianlong base had ten thousand guards, which formed their highest order, the army. Below the army was ten brigades with a thousand troops each. Each brigade was divided into ten squads of a hundred troops. Each squad was further divided into groups of ten men.

(TL* I don't know the proper army titles for these groups, the author uses a universal army group character 队 four times, so if anyone is a military buff and would like to name these divisions and subdivisions, be my guest)

A single group would be responsible for the gate, these ten guards would be split into two teams* of five that would take early and late shifts.

"So what if you are guards or not, we are people from the Qing sect, so hurry up and let up pass."

Ma Dong heard the guard and retorted with a frown.

Ma Dong was a sixth class cultivator and normally wouldn't pay attention to normal people. But he knew that his sect master was in the car behind him and he couldn't just sit around, especially when he saw the general manager Qian Zongguan step out and have to speak to the guard. Ma Dong got out of the car to take care of this matter himself, lest his superiors have to.

"Call your team leader."

Ma Dong wasn't willing to engage in idle chatter, especially given the age and position of this simple guard.

"Qian Zongguan, I say that we just forget about this matter and just walk in all the same."

Having wasted time at the entrance already, Ma Dong didn't mince his words and directly addressed his point.

Ma Dong was polite, as even though he could feel that the team leader was a normal person, he was still the team leader and could do whatever he wanted. Even though their statuses were different, since they wanted to enter the base they had to be polite.

"What Qing sect, have you not been paying attention. Park your vehicles elsewhere unless you don't want to enter the city."

The team leader went right in front of Ma Dong as he spoke.

After his recent promotion to team leader, Zhang Yang was in a particularly good mood. With just a simple changing of shifts, Zhang Yang felt like he could control the world. Being high on his newfound power caused him to neglect the large convoy of vehicles and Ma Dong's bearing and appearance.

"PA!"

Right as he finished speaking, with the sound of a slap, a palm appeared on the face of Zhang Yang.

It wasn't the palm of Ma Dong, but they all noticed another figure standing next to Zhang Yang, someone that neither Ma Dong or Lin Feng, who was behind him, recognized.

"Chief…...Chief commander…..."

Even though he was recently promoted, Zhang Yang couldn't be more familiar with this newly arrived figure. Seeing who exactly it was that struck him, Zhang Yang paled and called out with a trembling voice.
