"FIGHT!," yelled the announcer over the speakers.

Johan rushed Win Lou. But to his surprise his movements were slowed. He felt the same power sapping effects he felt when he had been in Mongolia.

Win Lou struck out with a front kick, hitting Johan in the belly stopping his rush.

"OOoooff!," groaned Johan as he backed away creating distance.

Johan had barely seen the attack.

This was unusual. He knew the attack hadn't been concealed or fast. It was just that his ability to see and react to overly fast events seemed to have been diminished.

Johan connected the dots. This effect must have something to do with the mana cancellation abilities of the Lou Lou clans.

Johan didn't panic, he had experienced this weakness before. In fact, he had grown up feeling it prior to discovering that mana existed.

Johan tried spreading his perception, yet, even this ability seemed unusable.

Wei Lou attacked Johan with a flurry of punches and kicks.

Johan did his best to fend off the attacks and tried to jump behind the scenes in order to gather his thoughts and figure out how to handle the situation. But to his surprise, he could not. He couldn't even see the path to get behind the scenes!

Things were not going as planned.

At the moment, Johan was a regular human being.

But Johan was a fighter and he wasn't going to let this dishearten him.

Furthermore, because people become dependant on the strength mana inheriently gives them, they fail to properly develop technique, timing and true defensive fighting skill. This makes them weak fighters. They dislike things they can't explain and thus, this is part of the reason why they hate us so much. They haven't been able to isolate what in my people causes this effect. Sometimes, it spreads to people and animals outside which is part of the reason why we are hated so much. After we nullified permanently the abilities of Godly Monarchs, millions of years ago, we were deamed a threat and outcast. I am surprised you are willing to risk that for a fight."

Johan froze.

Permanently nullify mana abilities? It was contagious? This was clearly a setup. An attempt to cripple him.

"Don't worry," said Wei Lou seeing Johan's expression. "It is only a story made up by powerful figures to scare the masses. They didn't want us to live along side them, when it would make them mortals. Especially, in this land, that already has a mana diminishing effect. It has never happened in my or my tribes experience. But the majority believe it."

Johan jumped up and threw a punch at Wei Lou. Wei Lou jumped back and Johan just hit air.

"Are you ready to fight?," asked Johan getting up. "Or are you going to keep talking?"

Wei Lou smiled.

"Alright," said Wei Lou as he started to bounce up and down on his toes.

Wei Lou pretended to begin to throw a kick and threw a punch instead.

WAM!

Johan's head was blown back.

CRACK!

Wei Lou threw his left kick hitting Johan on his shin.

Johan lost his balance and fell to floor.

"As well as you have been doing," said Wei Lou. "From what I was told, you have been only training for one year, while I have been training all my life. Thus, much of your muscular physique wasn't true muscle strength, rather it was strength developed through tapping into mana. You strength isn't natural, although it is formidable due to the effort you must have put in."

It hurt. But Johan ignored the pain.

This entire situation was unexpected.

Yet, Johan refused to believe all his training had been for naught. All that experience. His obsessive training, the techniques he practiced again and again couldn't be useless.

Johan started bouncing on his toes. He had realised when watching Wei Lou, that it introduced if done properly a natural attack feint. Made strikes harder to read at the expense of power. But Johan had decided to focus on speed and technique.

"HAAA!," Johan let out a battle cry.

Johan jumped forward and to the left of Wei Lou while throwing a long left hook, following by a right straight and then a right kick to his rib cage. Wei Lou caught Johan's kick and swept Johan's leg knocking him to the floor.

THUD!

Johan hit the floor hard.

"I haven't gone to the floor," said Wei Lou. "If I had, this fight would have been over in less than a minute. I respect you as an opponent and understand your current situation. So I was hoping to let you acclimate to it before getting serious."

Johan turned red in the ears. He had trained hours every day, pushing himself to the max. He practiced relentlessly giving it his all, and now he was being toyed with just as if it was back in the days prior to him learning how to fight.

Johan got up again.

"You don't have to go easy on me," said Johan. "I'm ready."

Wei Lou shrugged and said, "Well you said it."

With that he charged at Johan initiating the attack for the first time in their fight.

Johan threw a punch, but Wei Lou stopped right outside his reach. Johan left his arm extended and stiff to keep Wei Lou away and hardened his stance in anticipation of a strike.

Wei Lou grinned knocking Johan's arm aside and began showering Johan with punches.

Johan bobbed his head while striking back and attempting to clinch with Wei Lou. But Wei Lou pushed Johan's head away and then struck him on the chin with an uppercut.

THUMP!

Johan fell face first onto the ring floor as everything went dark.
