Beyond Gods 79 Fighting Anna

It was time.

The moment of Johan's fight with Anna had come. Hanuman had delivered on his promise and Johan now had the ability to go behind the scenes.

Gadra had also appeared to Johan prior to the fight and had gone behind the scenes to prevent Anna from jumping. Hanuman wasn't pleased with her appearance. He had an inherent mistrust of her.

Yellow Sand blew across the arena, on this particular day they had opened the arena dome revealing Looking Glass City's cloudless morning sky. The suns were just beginning to rise in the sky.

Johan stood alone shirtless in the middle of the arena, shoeless, wearing nothing but a pair of shorts. His bulging lean muscles and scars forged from innumerable hardships and consistent obsessive hard work daily could be seen clearly.

Birds and other mysterious creatures could be seen flying around the city sky. Unconcerned with the events unfolding below them.

A flying camera ball appeared and Anna was beamed onto the opposite side of the arena from Johan. She wore an overly revealing pink bikini top and skin tight shorts that revealed her perfectly toned sculpted feminine figure and matched her hair perfectly which was now purely pink. The crowd let out hoots and whistles in approval of her. The polar opposite to the overwhelming disapproving yells and boos Johan had received when he beamed in. Jabber's fans had still not forgiven Johan for that victory.

But despite Johan's rising annoyance and self questioning of why he was doing so much to save these ungrateful people, his sense of nobleness engrained in him since he was a child made him know he had to save them, because it was the right thing to do.

Furthermore, Johan reasons for standing in the arena had changed. Sure there were reasons, but his main drive currently was to test himself. See how strong all his efforts had taken him. He needed confirmation that he was stronger than before. Not through other people telling him, or through easy victories. He wanted to test himself under the most unforgiving of circumstances against the strongest and most ruthless opponent he had ever faced yet.

Johan eyed Anna's figure up and down. He was very familiar with it. She looked more like a bikini model than an formidable martial artist.

Johan had fought her countless times in her mind over the past few with Hanuman's guidance. Only Johan remembered this clearly ... not Anna. That should have given him a clean advantage, yet it did not.

Based on Johan's experiences with her, he knew that if he didn't win against her, Anna would probably kill him and all his efforts up till would be for nothing. This would be a real death, not a Dream death. There was no coming back from it.

Was there life after death?

Johan wasn't sure, but He felt that these were the fight conditions that would take his skills to the next level. Hanuman had mentioned how it was only during fights like this that he had broken through to new levels in the past.

During this fight, Johan realized that Any mistake could be fatal. Yet, his grueling days of practice and accumulated fighting experience had given him confidence. Johan knew that this was going to be one hell of a fight.

"Fight!," screamed the referee over the stadium speakers.

It broke Johan out of his trance and his senses sharpened.

With that Anna rushed at Johan aggressively leaping at him and throwing a punch directly at his face.

Foosshhh!

Johan's godly monarch level observational skill allowed for him to see it coming. Johan jumped back and to the side making her leap come short and struck out kicking at her belly.

"Ooofff!," groaned Anna as she grabbed onto Johan's leg while hardening her stance.

With her free hand she struck out with her elbow Dropping it at Johan's knee. Johan knew that with Anna's vice like grip there was no dodging this. Johan pulled her in close bending his leg while she held it and throwing a hook at her head.

CRACK!

Both strikes connected at the same time. Johan's movement had managed to make Anna miss hitting his knee directly.

Johan still felt the blow, but it wasn't anything he had not felt before. Johan was no stranger to pain.

Anna rushes in pushing Johan to the floor using a single leg takedown.

Johan knew she could grapple and knew what to expect next.

Anna dropped her knee on Johan stomach aggressively, and quickly mounted Johans stomach and began to throw elbows and punches at Johan's face.

Johan folded his forearms in front of his face.

CRACK!

Johan endured squirming and attempting to throw Anna off by explosively swing his torso from side to side and periodically thrusting his hips, but it didn't do him any good. Anna held on tight with her legs.

Johan threw a punch at Anna's face and it connected.

CRACK!

Anger spread through Anna's face as she seemed to realize he had a reach advantage and she pulled him in close muffling his breathing using her chest.

Whistles and boots could be heard through out the crowd.

"What a sexy play by Anna!," screamed the announcer, "This kid is one lucky fighter!"

But Johan knew better. He couldn't breath, this woman was eliminating the space between them to make it difficult for him to counter attack and using her chest to make it difficult for him to breath and drain his stamina. Then when he made a mistake, she'd use a grappling move to break one of his limbs.

Basic grappling technique.

CHOMP!

"Ahhhh!," screamed Anna as she leaped off Johan. "You freak!"

Johan stood up as blood dropped down the side of his mouth and spat out a broken tooth and some flesh. He smiled and looked scary standing there as red blood coated his teeth.

Blood dripped down Anna's chest and she dropped her hands to the side revealing bite marks.

The audience let out a shocked gasp.

Johan had bitten her.

"Your better than I thought," said Anna smiling evilly. "This will make things more enjoyable."

With that Anna once again leaped at Johan throwing a flurry of strikes at him.

Johan blocked and continued counterattacking as Anna's ferocity pushed him back.

Anna ducked under one of Johan's strikes and rammed her forehead into Johan's nose.

CRACK!

Distracting Pain spread throughout face like thunder. Johan pushes Anna away but she hugged Johan close and began throwing knees at him not giving him any time to recover.

Anna bit at Johan neck and Johan managed to push her off him in that moment.

She then kicked out at Johan's balls aggressively.

Grunt!

Johan turned red in the face clenching his teeth and taking the pain while striking back but missing.

Anna struck out at Johan's eye with a pointed finger but Johan grappled her finger and broke them. Undeterred Anna continued to attack with renewed fury.

Anna jumped at Johan again and Johan threw a punch to counter.

[I can win this,] thought Johan. [she isn't as sharp here as she was when we fought in her dreams.]

But Anna has disappeared.

Johan froze as he tried to register what was happening.

Had she gone Behind the scenes?

Wasn't Gadra preventing her from doing so?

Boom!

Anna began to disappear and reappear and her strikes began to connect hitting Johan as his reasoning caught up with his current situation. Anna began moving faster and faster And with more confidence.

Gadra for some reason wasn't preventing Anna from jumping behind the scenes!

Johan quickly started moving in bursts kicking up a storm of sand concealing himself like Jabber had done while taking Anna's strikes.

Then Johan tried to jump behind the scenes. But an electric flash prevented him from reaching the ladder.

"WHAT!?," gasped Johan surprised.

Through the electric blinds Johan could see Gadra smiling down slyly at him.

"Sorry hunny," whispered Gadra. "Me and Anna have been working together all this time."

"But why?," said Johan.

At the border between the real world and behind the scenes realm, time passed by more slowly.

Gadra remained smiling silent as Johan fell back to the arena.

Betrayed.

Perhaps Hanuman had been right ...

Maybe Gadra had been after the god orb. But she clearly had ulterior motives.

This situation had just gone terribly wrong.

But Johan wasn't planning on giving up just yet. It wasn't a loss unless he was dead.

Johan planted his feet and spread his senses grabbing a handful of sand. Then he continued to kick up a storm of sand running around the arena.

He didn't plan on dying today.
