Chapter 284: Chapter 10 Wandering Deity?

All this happened in a flash. Abaningma, in pain, had no time to react, while the last person drew a large-caliber revolver from his waistband with lightning speed and pressed it against Li Yan's chin.

The menacing muzzle pushed against Li Yan's chin, and the man roared at Li Yan with fierce anger. A trigger's pull away, a bullet could tear through Li Yan's throat and flip his skull, sending blood and brain matter a metre into the air.

Li Yan glanced at the man calmly, his tongue pressing against his upper lip, and spat a mouthful of saliva onto the man's nose.

The man's expression froze for an instant, but his uncontrollable rage compelled his finger to squeeze the trigger!

Then he realized he couldn't pull it.

The man looked down sharply to find Li Yan's left hand clutching a spoon, jammed right into the trigger guard, stuck tightly in place.

Li Yan twisted his left hand, the steel spoon twisting the man's index finger. The man cried out in pain, his hand jerked back, and Li Yan grabbed the gun, smashing it against the wall. The gun misfired, flames burst out, and the bullet shattered an empty whiskey glass.

The man took two steps back to steady himself and looked up with wide eyes, his expression somewhat shocked.

In a straightforward encounter, the three of them couldn't suppress the aura of a single Li Yan.

It was then that the entire fourth floor of the building erupted in noise, with whistles coming from everywhere.

“Kill him.”

“Three against one and you're still at a disadvantage?”

“Let's all jump in!”

Whether it was Abaningma or Li Yan, the onlookers in the building regarded both as “newcomers.” Coupled with the direct guards' superiority complex, they were indifferent to Yin Xiong's motley crew from the frontier base. Li Yan smiled, threw his coat onto a chair with a sharp snap, and rolled up his shirt sleeves. With the tip of the knife raised in his hand, he gestured to Abaningma, ratcheting up the tension in the room.

The other two exchanged glances, hesitating.

Li Yan's thought process was simple and clear. Since he knew these people would find trouble with him on tomorrow's mission, it would be better to let this bastard have an “accident” tonight. Even if he had to act alone, it was better than having someone drag him down. Claiming he was drunk and got into a fight was plausible. Li Yan gripped the handle of his knife tightly, step by step moving forward.

A series of crisp bone sounds emitted from Abaningma's body, followed by a fierce rush forward, his tungsten steel dagger slashing towards Li Yan's ribs. Li Yan stepped back, his right hand stabbing forward fiercely, Abaningma tilting backward as well, his rising blade aiming to bite into Li Yan's wrist. The blade grazed Li Yan's hand, drawing blood, Li Yan's fingers flicked, changing his grip from proper to reverse, and aimed his knife tip at Abaningma's hand, but it hit the back of Abaningma's knife with resounding clarity.

Both maintained a certain curvature in their backs, knife blades hissing through the air with dull sonic booms. However, the two tungsten steel daggers barely made direct contact, always skimming past the opponent's soft flesh before quickly withdrawing, then entangling ferociously once more after a brief standoff. The daggers tore and entangled ferociously and then suddenly separated, leaving a few wounds, shallow or deep–the closer their short-range combat, the more tragic the struggle.

Li Yan extended his left arm to protect his head and face, but his calm eyes, containing a tempest, fixed Abaningma with a chilling gaze!

In that moment, a tide-like sense of alert surged in Abaningma's heart!

Yet the arrow was on the string and had to be shot.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Abaningma brandished his blade, sweat pouring off in droplets, a succession of strikes hammering against Li Yan's defending left arm, the ear-piercing friction accompanied by intense sparks.

The two shuffled their steps in chaotic crisscrossing patterns until suddenly, the crowd heard the muffled sound of a blade slicing into flesh–a few bloodied fingertips dropped to the ground with a smack, Li Yan's blade flipped and stabbed straight into the gap between Abaningma's collarbones, a twist of his hand ensuring the job was done!

Thump~

Abaningma collapsed unconscious.

Li Yan tossed aside his dagger, the drunkenness gone from his eyes.

“Take him to see a doctor.”
