She hugged her back and smiled, Nian Jiezhen was relieved to see that Sun Lingzi was somewhat better than her mother.

"I brought some fruits for you. I heard from Shiyuan that you like oranges."

"Thank you, mom." Nian Jiezhen smiled as she received the basket filled with oranges inside.

Sun Lingzi took a small box from her bag and opened it, inside was a beautiful jade bracelet. "This bracelet for you."

Nian Jiezhen placed the basket of oranges in the kitchen before she joined Ren Shiyuan and his mother in the dining room.

Nian Jiezhen nodded, acting like a loving daughter to her, "I will visit you from time to time then, mom."

It was actually surprising for Ren Shiyuan to see this side of Nian Jiezhen, she was so behaving and sweet in front of his mother.

After Sun Lingzi left, Ren Shiyuan turned to his wife for a while.

She noticed his gaze making her raise a brow, "What?"

"Nothing." Ren Shiyuan went and gave her a hug.

She narrowed her eyes at him, "It's definitely not nothing."

"No, no. It's definitely nothing," he chuckled.

Nian Jiezhen knew that Ren Shiyuan was definitely going to be a good father, it was just... She was doubtful of herself. She couldn't help but think if whether she was going to be a good mother or not.

She was not exactly the type of person who is fond of kids.

"How's China?"

"I guess it's good," answered his daughter. "How are you and mom?"

"We're planning on visiting you soon."

"Darling, who's that?" Jing Wanru's voice was heard from the background.

"It's Jiezhen."

"Tch, she finally called us. I was wondering when she'll finally call us again." 

Nian Jiezhen heard her mother's voice coming closer from the other line.

She rolled her eyes at what her mother said. Ren Shiyuan's mom was definitely better than her mother.

"So? Why did she call us this time?" Asked Jing Wanru.

Nian Jiezhen sighed, "Dad, please be prepared to catch mom."

Her father ended up blinking a few times because of what she said, "What kind of news do you have this time?"

"I'm pregnant." Nian Jiezhen said without even holding back.

Nian Qi Liu became quiet on the other line, it was obvious that he was shocked by the sudden news.

Jing Wanru was looking at her husband with a confused look, "What did she say?"

He looked at her for a short while before he finally opened his mouth, "She's pregnant."

"W-what..." Jing Wanru's eyes went wide because of what she heard from her husband.

"Jiezhen's pregnant."

"P-pregnant... Jiezhen's pregnant..."

And with that, Jing Wanru fainted. 

It was a good thing that her husband was there to catch her.

"She fainted." Nian Qi Liu said on the phone.

Nian Jiezhen chuckled a bit, "See? I told you." 

"You're not joking around with us, right?" Nian Qi Liu asked, wanting to make sure.

"No."

"Who's the father?"

"You already know him, dad. It's Ren Shiyuan."

"..." Of course, her father would never forget him. Ren Shiyuan made such an unforgettable first impression to him after all.

He cleared his throat, "So... When are you planning on marrying him."

"We're already married."

Nian Jiezhen heard something fall before the call was ended. "Hello? Hello? Dad?"

Ren Shiyuan who was sitting on the sofa looked at her, "What happened?"

"He ended the call..."
