/ Be My Strength Chapter 8
"It's already broken . Breakfast is here . " He smiled and kissed her on the forehead, once on both her swollen eyes, then once on the lips, "If you don't hurry, I'm going to eat everything . It's your favorite minced pork congee by the way . "
Hearing that, Kai Xin quickly got out of bed and went to freshen up in the bathroom . When she was in the bathroom, her phone rang .
"Kara, phone . "
"Unless it says mum, bro, dad, or work people then answer it . "
DX looked at the caller ID, "Jane my bitch" and picked it up . Before he managed to say hello,
"Kai Xin, I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have said those stuff yesterday! You are the best person that I know and I don't care who you sleep with . Even if your sugar daddy is an old ugly balding man with buck tooth, I won't judge . Please forgive me!"
DX cleared his throat . He was wondering what had happened but he has an idea now .
"I'm really not that ugly . "
The phone was cut off after few seconds of silence . DX looked at the phone and shook his head, wondering why would Kai Xin hung out with silly girls like Jane . Just as he was about to put it down, it rang again .
"Hello?" Jane asked sheepishly .
"Hi, Jane Chu . "
"How do you know my name?"
"Your name was on Caller ID . Are you looking for Kara? She's in the washroom . "
"Yeah, can you pass me to her?"
"I think based on what you said earlier, I should not do it . " DX threatened . His protective nature was triggered as he coldly said, "I don't know what you said to her yesterday but she was a complete mess . If you are going to be judgmental, then I would prefer if you stay away from my Kara . She doesn't need judgemental friends . "
"I… I'm sorry . "
"I'm not the one you should apologize to . " He snapped, " Jane, I don't care that you are her best friend . if you ever hurt my Kara again, I'd make sure that your life is 10x more miserable than hers now . "
Another moment of awkward silence and DX can hear sobbing in the background . Suddenly, he heard a rustle and someone else spoke,
"Erm, hello, sir? You made my girlfriend cry . "
"And you are?"
"Mo Shaoyun . Jane wants to apologize to Kai Xin . Please don't be harsh on her . She has been feeling miserable since yesterday and while I don't really know the full exact story, I know Kai Xin enough to know that she would be upset too . "
"What do you want?" He replied curtly .
Mo Shaoyun was taken aback by the rudeness . For some reason, he was reminded of Kai Xin when he was first introduced to her .
"Please pass the phone to Kai Xin . "
Kai Xin walked out at the moment, with her eyes still slightly swollen . Seeing the state she was in, DX really feel like throwing the phone away .
"Who was that ?"
DX glanced at her for a second before answering tersely, "Jane . . and some punk . "
Kai Xin frowned as she took over the phone, "Jane?"
DX sat on the bed as he watched Kai Xin talked to Jane . She shot him a glare when she heard from Jane what had just happened but DX merely shrugged and went out to the living room as if he had not done anything wrong . After another five minutes, she hung up and went to the living room where DX was lounging on the couch reading the newspaper .
The sunlight from the windows accentuates his ruggedly handsome look, making him look more dangerous than normal . Slowly, she made her way towards him and as she embraced him from behind, to better take in his intoxicating scent, she buried her face into his shoulder .
Smiling slightly from the affection, he reached up and gently caressed her head to assure her that everything will be alright . At that moment, no words were exchanged between them and none were required . It was only after a moment of silence, Kai Xin raised her face and whispered lovingly,
"Thank you . "
