Be My Strength 292 Prepare the men for an invasion

When he heard Callum's words, Ghost looked up at him with a frown on his face. He had never heard of a kidnapping incident at the Du Mansion for the past few decades...At least, not a successful one.

The threats of being kidnapped were common for people like them but the act itself rarely succeeded. Furthermore, given Callum's true identity, anyone who would dare to kidnap him must either be a really brave person or a complete lunatic.

"Are you interested now?" asked Callum as he wriggled his brows. When he saw the look of annoyance on Ghost's face, instead of stopping, he wanted to tease him more.

Ghost sighed. He knew that no matter what he said, Callum was going to start telling him the story. In the end, he just said, "Tell it if you want...I don't really care..."

Callum smiled. He could tell that Ghost was interested despite him trying to feign disinterest in his story. Callum's goal for tonight was to get Ghost to keep hanging out with him and to do so, he needed to get the latter to be more interested in his life.

Like any other 12 years old, Little Callum tended to be brash and ignorant, especially when he had an 'Uncle Jin' who spoiled him senselessly. However, while Du Jin could give Young Callum everything he would ever want, he was unable to give him his freedom.

Little Callum felt suffocated by Du Jin's overprotectiveness and when the guards looked away, he managed to skip past them by climbing out through the school's underground sewer system.

"FREEDOM!" yelled Little Callum happily as he ran all the way towards a bus stop that was about a kilometer away from his school. His body stank but he did not give it too much thought. All he wanted was the freedom of being able to do whatever he wanted.

When he saw the bus, he waved it down excitedly. However, before the bus arrived, a black van swerved towards him. As he was stunted and thought that the van was going to run him over, it stopped in front of him. Two men dressed in black got out of the car. Despite his attempt to escape, he was caught and thrown into the back of the van.

He fought to his very best ability but the men who kidnapped him were stronger than him. After he tried to jump out of the moving van, they knocked him out.

"Hey, is that wise? That's our Young Master..." said the driver as he looked at the rearview mirror nervously while he massaged his shoulder. He knew that it would not be easy to capture Young Callum but he did not expect that kind of resistance. That one punch from the 12-year-old hurt more than a punch from an adult man!

The man who was sitting at the back with Little Callum snapped, "Idiot! Do you want to tell our Master that we lost the Young Master after we promised him that we would be bringing him back?"

The driver shut his mouth and drove quietly until they reached the Shenlong Mansion. After they placed Little Callum on the couch, they were dismissed by their boss.

"Father, is this necessary?" asked Shenlong Fei Huang as he glanced at Little Callum. He wrinkled his nose when he smelled the stench coming from Little Callum.

The patriarch of the Shenlong Family, Old Master Shenlong, took a glance at the boy before saying, "He's my grandson. Naturally, he should stay with the family."

He looked at Little Callum's body in disgust and as he held Little Callum's hand up, he sneered, "Look at what Du Jin did to my precious grandson! Such limp and weak limbs! Are those the limbs that an heir of our Shenlong House should have!"

"Grandfather, my cousin is raised outside the house. His body is considered as normal for a boy his age," said Shenlong Yuan, the only son of Shenlong Fei Huang, as he peeked at the cousin he had heard often but had yet to meet. He had rushed over when he heard that his young cousin was back.

Old Master Shenlong waved his hand at him dismissively, "Yuan Er, good that you arrive now. Take your younger cousin to the dungeon...Get someone to hose him down and make sure that he changed out of those smelly clothes! I expect Du Jin and that rude son of his will arrive shortly, so get the men ready as well!"

Shenlong Yuan nodded and carried Little Callum out of the living room. Shenlong Fei Huang watched his son's back and felt pity for the boy. Shenlong Yuan was older than his little cousin by 3 years.

However, as the son of the eldest son of Old Master Shenlong, Little Callum was the next in line to the family's fortune. Shenlong Yuan, who was the son of the second son, was the third in line. It was unfortunate because Shenlong Fei Huang knew that his son would be a better leader than Little Callum.

"Prepare the men for an invasion," ordered Old Master Shenlong.

When Little Callum woke up and saw that he was locked in a dark basement, he panicked. He kept shouting for Du Jin and DX. When the guards tried to placate him, he threw things against the door.

When he threatened to kill himself by banging his head against the wall, it was reported to Old Master Shenlong. Angered, Old Master Shenlong went down to the basement himself and slapped his grandson across the face.

"Argh!" groaned Little Callum while he tried to crawl away from his grandfather. He was scared and he prayed that Du Jin and DX would come faster.

"I'd never run away again…" thought Little Callum as he looked up at his grandfather. His father had told him stories of the unforgiving man and the stories used to scare him when he was still young.

"Hold him down!" said the old man as he glared at his grandson.

As his men held the boy down, Old Master Shenlong placed a foot on Little Callum's left leg and cruelly stepped on it with enough force to break it.

"ARGHHHH!!!!!"

Little Callum's cries were so loud and piercing that Shenlong Yuan felt bad for him. However, he was too afraid of his grandfather to help his little cousin.

Little Callum whimpered as he tried to crawl away from the old man, but Old Master Shenlong grabbed him by the arms and lifted him up. With the look of an evil man, he snarled, "This is your house! Remember that! You are a descendant of the Shenlong Family, not the Du Family! If you dare to threaten me with your life again, I'd break all your limbs!"

Despite his pain, Little Callum glared at him and spat, "I don't have a grandfather like you! You are a bad man! Uncle Du Jin and Big Brother XiAn would come for me!"

When he heard those words, Old Master Shenlong was secretly pleased that his grandson was fighting back. He had expected the boy to be a wimp after his son chose to raise him outside of the Shenlong Family. However, he kept his real thought hidden behind a mask of cruelty by intentionally dropping his grandson back on the floor.

With his broken leg, the impact from the fall was unbearable and Little Callum cried out loudly before he held onto his leg.

Old Master Shenlong turned to his son and said, "Fei Huang, get someone to fix his leg!"

After he left, Shenlong Yuan looked at Little Callum who was groaning as he clutched onto his left leg. Worried, he turned to his father before asking, "Is his leg going to be fine?"

"No matter what, he has the Shenlong blood in him. He would heal soon. Don't worry too much about it..." said Shenlong Fei Huang. However, he could not help but be worried about his nephew.

After all, the boy was raised outside of the Shenlong Family and he never received the training nor the care that they received from birth.

When his older brother left the family, he swore that he would never raise his son in the manner that he was raised. Shenlong Fei Huang doubted that his older brother would put his son through the gruesome training that they all went through.

He could only hope that the Shenlong blood was strong in the boy.
