Be My Strength 257 Are you on his side or mine?

In Du Corporation, everyone from the juniors to the seniors was busy dealing with the incoming calls from angry shareholders and the companies that Du Corporation had a partnership with.

An Xin who was tasked with replying to the emails received a sudden call on her mobile phone from her fiance, Thomas Ou. Since he rarely called her during working hours, she stopped her work for a while to answer the call.

"Thomas, honey...I'd like to talk but I'm quite busy right now..." said An Xin as she continued to type the email she was about to send to a potential client who was having a second thought. She frowned when she could not think of the right choice of words to use.

"Have you seen the news about President Du's woman?" asked Thomas Ou angrily. He was having a meeting with a client when he saw Kai Xin's face plastered all over the TV. Not long after that, he received a call from his parents as they demanded him to get to the bottom of the matter.

In order to answer his parents' questions, he had to excuse himself and hid in the toilet to make the call.

An Xin frowned when she heard his brusque tone. He rarely got angry and he would usually prefer to avoid entering into any confrontation with her.

"Yeah...She caused quite a lot of trouble for us..." said An Xin. She had expected a tiring day when she received the news from her coworkers yesterday. However, she did not expect the level of damage that one woman could cause them.

"The latest news is in. Do you know who she is?" asked Thomas Ou as he paced around the toilet.

"Who?" asked An Xin with a frown as she continued to type. With a disinterested voice, she added, "I don't have the time to check the news. Because of her stunt, we have a lot of things to handle today...I've been replying to emails non-stop since this morning!"

"Your sister...Kai Xin..." said Thomas Ou in a mocking manner.

When she heard him, An Xin who was holding the mouse accidentally pressed the button 'send'.

"Fuck!" cursed An Xin as she tried to retrieve it but it was too late. The incomplete email was sent. In order to avoid any more mistakes, she stopped what she was doing and focused on what her fiance was saying.

"What do you mean by Kai Xin? Please repeat what you just told me! Kai Xin? How is it possible?! She's just a rude woman!"

"Go and see for yourself. It was on almost every major news network. They are calling her President Du's secret woman...The third party in the Du-Song alliance...A little mistress! Someone posted the information of everyone who is semi-related to her online! Including my family! My parents are angry...They have been receiving calls from people asking about your family!" snapped Thomas Ou.

"Honey, please wait! I know nothing about this!" said An Xin as she shook her head.

"The man that came to the dinner? That must have been him! President Du! How could you not know about who your sister is dating?!"

"Thomas! You know that we don't live together! Please don't be angry at me!" pleaded An Xin as she pinched her glabella.

"Anyway, settle this before it worsens!" snapped Thomas Ou before he ended the call.

After she placed her mobile phone down, she did a quick search and found the photo that was taken at the party. It was currently the most shared photo on all the most popular forums in the country.

The titles of the posts are :

'The bitch who stole President Du from Miss Song'

'Zhen Kai Xin, you are so despicable!'

'Lawyer Zhen? More like a Killer Zhen!'

'People from the Zhen Family! How did you raise such an evil b*itch!"

She did a quick scroll through the last post and when she saw a photo of her and her parents, she got angry and worried for her safety. There was some really scary threat being posted online. It was basically a witch hunt!

Afraid, she immediately gave her father a call. The moment he picked up the phone, she whined, "DAD!"

"Yes, An Xin?" asked Mr. Zhen as he continued to read a contract that he was about to send to a potential client.

"How could Kai Xin do this to me? Because of her, the Ou Family is angry at me! I'm not Mrs. Ou yet! What if Thomas ends the engagement with me because of her? And also! People are saying bad things about us, Dad! They are threatening to hurt us because she hurt Ms. Song!"

Mr. Zhen frowned as he tried to grasp what An Xin was telling him. With a sigh, he said, "An Xin, I'm confused. What are you talking about? And please talk slower this time."

"The man that came with her last time was President Du, Dad! She broke up the engagement between President Du and Ms. Song. Now I have to take the blame for it! Dad! Someone posted our photos online! What if they hurt us because of what she did?"

"Don't panic, An Xin," said Mr. Zhen as he tried to comfort her. Putting the contract aside, he pulled out his laptop to do a quick search before saying, "I'm sure nothing would happen...Don't believe everything you read online. I'll talk to your sister..."

Old Madam Du paced around the living room in her own house as she flipped through the daily newspaper that Old Mo handed to her earlier.

'PLOP!'

Angered by what she read, she threw the newspaper onto the floor before she snapped, "What have you found out about the woman?!"

Old Mo handed her a folder. He had spent the entire morning gathering information on Kai Xin. As she sat down to read through the documents inside, he gave her a short briefing,

"Her name is Zhen Kai Xin, a lawyer who was trained by Ms. Layla. Her mother works as a manager in a small company and her brother is a sports doctor. She has a younger half-sister who was born on the same day. Her parents are divorced. It happened when she was around 10 years old and in the same year, her father remarried. His new wife is the mother of her younger half-sister."

After she finished going through the documents in the folder, she snapped, "Absurd! Ridiculous!"

Throwing the folder onto the coffee table, she sneered, "How dare a woman like that dreams about entering our Du Family! With such a messy background, we would be the butt of everyone's jokes!"

Old Mo nodded. He did not think that Kai Xin was a good fit for DX. He was not concerned with her family's behavior. It was her behavior that made him unable to think highly of her.

Her reckless behavior and her inability to take into account her surroundings made her a bad fit for the position of Madam President Du.

However, given that it was the first time that DX openly showed affection to a woman, he felt the need to be open-minded. Clearing his throat, he pointed out, "She received a scholarship to further her studies at an Ivy League university and according to her work files, she is a very experienced and hardworking woman."

"That's even worst! What if she approached my son because she has something nefarious in mind?" said Old Madam Du worriedly.

She stood up and paced around for a few seconds before saying, "Prepare the car! Since I can't talk to her, we will give her mother a visit!"

Alarmed, Old Mo frowned, "Old Madam Du, is that appropriate? President Du will get angry! You know how he hates it when someone did something behind his back!"

"He has caused enough troubles as it is! That unfilial stupid son of mine! For a woman like her, he dared to order me to stay away from his house! Look at the market today! Read the newspapers! That boy didn't even bother to think about his own future or the future of all the employees that depended on him!"

"In his defense, he merely asked you to stay away for a few days..." sighed Old Mo. Ever since Du Jin passed away, Old Madam Du had been getting too involved with her son's love life. He was worried that she might push DX away one day.

Glaring at him, Old Madam Du snapped, "Are you on his side or mine?!"

Old Mo had been working for the Du Family even before Old Madam Du married into the family. Thus, he knew better than anyone when it was time to stop talking. With his hands raised slightly, Old Mo said, "I'm on nobody's side, Old Madam Du. I'm just a butler. As per your instruction, I'll tell the driver to get ready."
