Silence . There was dead silence after Long Cheng declared Lu Meili as his mate . He could see the rapid changes going on the soldiers' faces . Some were surprised but there were also those who were looking at them with hurt and confusion which was totally understandable .  

'Yeah . Right, all that hassle that you did earlier for me  was, for chasing my mate . ' Long Cheng thought to himself sarcastically . As if he had another choice . He also could not blame Lu Meili for running away since she was being chased by Long Jun's soldiers and she probably did it out of her survival instincts which were a normal reaction .   

To make matters worse, his other cousin Long Xu, had decided to 'help' by flashing  Lu Meili's face in the news, letting all the citizens in the country know about the current mad chase that was taking place . They were bound to make  assumptions that Lu Meili had made a very disturbing crime to the point of involving the royal soldiers .  

Since that was the case, there was  no guarantee that even if he officially declared Lu Meili as her mate . It was more likely to happen that the citizens who had seen it, would have a hard time accepting her as a princess . Then to top it off add the accusation of killing a dragon shifter .

What if that news got in public too? He could not let that happen . It would certainly jeopardize Lu Meili's safety and life .  

Long Cheng subconsciously looked at his cousin who was standing on the far end of the soldiers line . It was not that he was upset, or complaining about having Lu Meili as his mate . Her feisty and confusing attitudes were making things interesting for him . For him, she was already amazing by just being herself . If she could be more submissive, that would make his life easier .

"General Wang! How dare you question my words? She is my true mate! Her mating mark could be arranged as soon as possible . . . " He said ensuring with full confidence . Until Lu Meili decided to finally speak up .  

"What do you mean that the mating mark could be arranged as soon as possible?" Lu Meili could not help but blurt out with confusion, specifically asking Long Cheng . She wanted to know more about this 'mating ceremony' but preferred to check on it through Lulu later instead .  

The confusion was the first expression Lu Meili had on her face after she was captured aside from indifference and Long Cheng did not like it one bit .  

In reality, Lu Meili was only hiding her surprise when Long Cheng had declared her as his mate, especially when he demanded her to have special treatment .

Long Cheng asked furiously before he continued, "She is not from our country and it is understandable that she is not aware of our customs .   Do not ask her things that I should be the one discussing or give her any ideas to choose someone else . " 

"Your Highness, you are wrong! She was only acting!" Lou Mary screamed suddenly .
