Even Long Cheng just agreed without question as he fixed the way he was carrying her. The smile on his face was like someone who had triumphantly returned from a battle. He wanted to declare that she was his mate, his alone.

With slow steps, Long Jun carefully walked towards the couple. "Long Cheng! Do not even consider moving a bit!" He shouted threateningly.

"Are you serious?! You are crazy! If you leave, I will make sure that you will be a cripple!" Long Jun warned seriously through clenched teeth. He was now regretting protecting her from his soldiers that hated outsiders.  

He knew his cousin would not want him to die. Long Jun was serious though on hurting him to the point of being a cripple if he continues to blindly follow Lu Meili. 

'So what? It is better to please my mate than my grumpy cousin…' Long Cheng thought to himself.

One could only get one real mate in a lifetime. Some were not even blessed to meet one, so he chose to keep his. 

After placing her hands over his cheeks so he could look at her, "Do not worry. I will heal you." Lu Meili assured Long Cheng with confidence. Her eyes were glinting with amusement and appreciation that he seldom saw now. 

Realizing that he was getting a good reaction from her, Long Cheng laughed. He also treated her statement as a joke so she could comfort him. This was the first time he was genuinely around Lu Meili and also because of her. He then forgot all his other concerns and just decided to go with the flow along with her.  Lu Meili raised a brow, "Aren't you enjoying yourself too much? We need to go now." She insisted. 

 "Of course. It is seldom that you show affection." He said teasingly. 

 When Lu Meili frowned, Long Cheng coughed awkwardly, "So, we just need to go there?" Long Cheng asked, quickly changing the topic. He was concerned about where they were going. As the direction that Lu Meili was pointing at was not far away from the beasts. "Are you sure?" He repeated with emphasis. 

 Lu Meili nodded. "Get there as quickly as you can." She encouraged. 

 "Why?" He asked loudly with a frown. It was dangerous to get close to the beasts. That was why he asked curiously like there was no one else there with them. 

 However, instead of answering, Lu Meili just smiled knowingly and adjusted herself in his arms. Long Cheng carried her with her legs tangled around his hips, while her arms around his neck. They could feel the unmistakable spark that mate bonds gave, to each other through every touch. 

This time though, Lu Meili did not refuse the connection and welcomed it instead. She also found him being so close to her like this without any confusion on her part, not bad. 

Could she get used to it, though? Lu Meili could not answer that. After all, she had made plans for a reason. 

"Let's go!" Long Cheng declared as he quickly sprinted towards the direction Lu Meili pointed at. He was afraid of the possibility of her changing her mind. 

At the same  moment his cousin left, Long Jun was furious, "Do not let them get away!" He roared angrily. 

"Hold on tight. I will get faster. More so than Long Jun earlier ran," Long Cheng said with a fit of slight jealousy laced on his voice. After that, he shifted partially which made his body covered in red scales, even his face. 

She did not notice his jealousy but realized that he was moving faster, due to the shift of air around them. 

Long Cheng sprinted and compared to the chase that he was doing earlier with Lu Meili. He was giving his all to arrive at their destination quickly. He also wanted to get away from his cousin's men who were chasing after them. 

Her eyes brightened with excitement. Since she was close to him and badly needed his help, it was best to enjoy what they had, and One of those things was, touching his scales. 

She reached for his face and pressed his cheek with a finger. His scales were hard, and if not careful enough, it would probably cut her as it looked more like a glass shred. 

Long Cheng's lips pursed as he tried to concentrate on his movements. However, his patience was always thin, especially when every touch from her was like a seductive move. 

When her finger touched his lower lip, Long Cheng caught it by biting. 

"What are you doing?" He questioned after letting go of the finger. Then he added reprimanding, "You are going to cause us accident." 

Her nose wrinkled as if the idea was absurd. "How could your scale be so hard? Is it painful to shift?" Lu Meili asked, instead.
