Despite him complaining silently, Long Cheng knew that her being 'hard to get' challenged him and his dragon. It made things interesting and exciting. 

'For how long?' Long Cheng did not have any idea. He could wait, but he hoped that at least she would show that somehow she cares or feels something towards him.

"That is right! This woman probably caused this! She also killed Rusan! She is probably doing this to escape!" Lou Mary used this as an excuse to attack Lu Meili again. 

Long Cheng was appalled, "Shut up!" he shouted in rage. "Do you have proof?! As long as you can't show any evidence, you do not have the right to blame her!" he yelled, hoarsely. His eyes shifted to his dragon that showed slits of yellow. 

The soldiers almost cowered in fear. Regardless of how happy go, lucky Long Cheng was, or how confused they were on why he would defend a criminal, they still could not deny the authority he was showing at the moment. 

"Am I making myself clear?!" Long Cheng asked again. The soldiers did not have a choice but to agree. Even Lou Mary could only grit her teeth as she tried to fight Long Cheng's authority. 

"Meili, come here." He demanded hoarsely, his dragon still on the surface. 

Lu Meili lifted a brow before answering dismissively, "I am fine where I am now." She was still standing behind Long Jun, using him as a shield. 

With frustration, Long Cheng growled warningly, which only made Lu Meili appalled. 

"Are you growling at me? Seriously?" She asked, with a hand partially covering her mouth, acting like she was surprised with mock hurt. 

Instead of answering, Long Cheng stepped forward with, hand raised to grab Lu Meili. 

"Don't come closer! I am perfectly fine where I am now!" Lu Meili said before pushing Long Jun slightly to use him as a shield against Long Cheng. 

"Cousin, get out of the way." He said hoarsely, his nostrils flaring like a predator getting ready to hunt his prey. His eyes scanned the part of her that he was able to see. 

Lu Meili wanted to step back from him. He was doing it again. By looking at her the way Long Cheng was doing now, Lu Meili could feel the air shift around her. This both scared and excited her. 

Long Jun released a tired sigh as he pinched the bridge of his nose. Could he deny Long Cheng's request? No.

He did not want to be in the middle of the tension between a lover's quarrel. He decided just to let Long Cheng handle it.
