The geography of this Mountain Range was mostly mixed, the Dark Ruins were flat, with several mountains occasionally, when the Sacred Family lead their Expedition there, they were close to a cliff.
The Dark Ruins, was a place where Death was a common thing, Shen Xian was unfairly ambushed and thrown off a cliff, when he was buried, Shen Hong used a double, and did even let Shen Tian see his father's body.
In fact, even the people who were in the expedition were not sure if he was dead or not, as Shen Xian jumped off a cliff, and into the deep darkness, there was a distance of over a kilometer at least, between the top and the lowest point.
The chances of him surviving were almost zero,null. In fact, the Sacred Family had not even bothered to confirm his death, because it was useless, there was no way of climbing this deep hole again.
Let's return to when Shen Xian was thrown off the cliff, a day of darkness for him, and his family who actually cared about him. The man with the power of a 3rd star Black Gold Demon Spiritualist.
Shen Xian felt like his life was slowly leaving him, as he felt the air around him brush his skin with velocity rivaling that of a wind technique, a very good one at that,he could only see darkness.
Shen Xian remembered that his son had given him an amulet, as a promise, that he would return it to him, when he successfully returned, he grabbed it and grasped it as hard as he could,"I'm sorry my son…"
The amulet shone in a green light, in the beginning barely engulfing any space, then suddenly expanding, to the point it engulfed Shen Xian's entire body, it was acting like a shield, protecting him.
It would protect him from three attacks, it had done that once, protecting him from the attack of the 5th star Black Gold Demon Spiritualist Shen Hong had sent from the Dark Guild, and it was going to do it again!
A moment later, he hit the ground with a large sound, Shen Xian did not dare to open his eyes for a very long time, afraid that if he did, he'd see a scene he'd rather not witness before he died at least.
After a while, he gathered his courage and opened his eyes, surprised at the scene before him, it was as if he never jumped from a cliff and into a deep hole, in which only darkness could be seen.
Instead, a beautiful field appeared in front of his view, with short grass, and basically no other creature. Shen Xian found the view in front of him as weird, the amulet's green shine disappeared shortly, and it returned to normal.
He took a deep breath, looking up almost immediately, and it seemed as if there was nothing, as if he did not just jump from a cliff, he could only see clouds and the blue sky, it was very weird, was it an illusion perhaps?
The amulet in his neck shone again, in a white light this time, and some information entered his mind and he took a deep breath, as if knowing what to do, and used Soul Force to dispel the illusion.
This illusion was a form of genjutsu, thus the amulet given to him by his son, ages ago, could be said to be the perfect thing, as it could dispel illusions as long as the owner believed them to be illusions himself.
"Why are you doing this? Dear!" Shen Xian opened his eyes again, this time to another weird scene, where he was stabbing his wife repeatedly, non-stop, his hands shook, he knew it was an illusion… But it was so real.
Shen Tian's mother, and Shen Xian's wife, had died not too long after his only son was born, and was a source of grief for their family, especially Shen Xian, since she was very healthy before dying, no one suspected it at all.
He took several short breaths, trying to control his mind, however the cries of his wife still continued, he suddenly roared, his eyes filled with red, and he then shouted,"You are not my wife, you are a mere illusion produced by my mind! BEGONE!"
The amulet shone again, in a white light, and the illusion start to crack… To show another illusion. Shen Xian's eyes were filled with annoyance and even despair, however he was not going to give up.
"SHEN XIAN, YOU UNFILIAL SON! I AM ASHAMED TO HAVE HAD A SON LIKE YOU!" He felt his father's anguished cry in one illusion.
"Father… Why did you leave me alone? Why did… You abandon me, just like that, tell me, why, FATHER?!" His son's cries in another.
"Don't worry… I'll take care of your son, so he'll accompany you to the afterlife soon after you die!" His brother's mad laugh in one.
He gritted his teeth, and his hands formed fists, veins appearing on his forehead, and various parts of his body,"SHUT UP YOU GODDAMN ILLUSIONS! I REFUSE TO ACCEPT YOU!" He roared as the amulet shone, in a white light again.

A monotone voice rang out, ending it with an angry tone, Shen Xian looked around, trying to find from where the voice was coming from, but failed to do so, only noticing he was in a… Temple or Shrine?
[I am not here, you dumb mortal, I was left behind as the Spiritual God's will, you cannot see me if I so wish, and you cannot find me, if I so wish, just follow my instructions, and you shall know what to do.]
The voice rang out again, Shen Xian finally regained his focus, and asked,"Since I'm supposed to ask you, then where am I supposed to go, oh mighty Will of a Spiritual God?" He had no idea what the meaning of that was, but he was going to play along with that for now.
He had to return, for his son.
even if he died, he would return.
The oath and the promise of a man, was something he wouldn't ruin, for his son, he was going to do this.
