Across Time and Space 251 I Won't Let Her Down

Once everything was ready, Mother Lin invited their guests to lunch. She tried her best to act as the best host, while her husband acted childishly by ignoring Yang Yun.

In the end, Mother Lin had no choice but to drag her husband into a quiet corner where she had to warn him to act like a grownup.

"How old are you? Why are you still acting like a kid?"

General Lin pouted after being scolded by his wife. Looking at the way her husband acted, Mother Lin felt the corner of her mouth twitched.

"It was because I cared about our daughter that I refuse to give in too easily to that boy," General Lin said. "Didn't they say that you will only cherish things that were hard to obtain?"

"Stop making excuses. First of all, your daughters are not things. Old man, I'm telling you that your daughter likes this boy, and she likes him," Mother Lin said. General Lin was still in shock to find out that she had a boyfriend, and Mingyue could not predict what will happen if she told her adoptive parents that she came from another world. She suspected that General Lin would probably call in the doctor to check whether she had knocked her head after she fainted last week.

However, Mingyue also knew that she could not keep this matter hidden from her family for too long.

Yang Yun was distressed when he saw the worry on his wife's face. Yang Yun grabbed her hand and started rubbing his thumb in a slow, circular motion on her palm.

Mingyue heaved a sigh. "Perhaps I should drop some hints to my parents and prepare them before I said anything, first."

"We still have a few months before the auspicious time to open the portal," Yang Yun said. "Don't worry. Everything is going to be alright. If you think that it was not the right time, then, let's wait. We don't have to rush into things."

Suddenly, the two heard footsteps coming from behind them. Mingyue immediately pulled away from her hands from Yang Yun. When she turned around, her dad stood at a distance away, watching them.

"What are you two doing outside?" General Lin asked. He seemed to be directing the question to his daughter, but his eyes were observing Yang Yun with scrutiny. "Your mother had made some tea."

"Un. I know." Mingyue nodded. She picked up her pace and went inside the house.

Mother Lin was chatting with both Lin Tian Yu and Xue Yi Ming. Once she saw Yang Yun, Mother Lin called him over and poured tea for him. Yang Yun took a small sip and praised that Mother Lin made good tea.

General Lin coughed when he sensed that his wife was looking at him. He sat down beside his wife and continued to stare at Yang Yun. "Yang Yun, since you're in a relationship with my daughter, I'm guessing that you know a little bit about Mingyue's background."

Yang Yun knew that General Lin was talking about Mingyue's status as an orphan and how she was adopted into the Lin's family.

"I know," Yang Yun nodded. He glanced at Mingyue and automatically, his lips curved into a soft smile.

Seeing how Yang Yun was looking at Mingyue, General Lin made a sound to clear his throat. "Since you're already dating my daughter, there isn't much for me to say. I trust Mingyue and her choice. However, if you let her down…"

"I won't let her down," Yang Yun promised. "I love Mingyue, and I will do my best to give her content and happy life."

General Lin frowned as he heard Yang Yun's words. Right now, his daughter was only dating Yang Yun. However, why do Yang Yun's words sound like he was making promises to marry his daughter?

In the end, General Lin could only pretend to ignore the others as he drank his tea.

Meanwhile, as Xue Yi Ming saw that Yang Yun had gotten his approval from the strict General Lin, Xue Yi Ming felt his spirit was up. He looked at the Lin's couple and said, "Uncle, Auntie, I have something I'd like to say."

Lin Tian Yu's eyes went wide as she had a premonition.

The Lin's couple were surprised upon hearing Xue Yi Ming's speech. Of course, they had no idea that their daughter and Xue Yi Ming were in a relationship.

Immediately, their gaze turned to their daughter, and sensing her parents' gaze, Lin Tian Yu quickly lowered her gaze and cursed Xue Yi Ming for his abruptness.
