Chapter 281: 281. Finals

Mael walked back. His eyes contained a deep will to battle. Suppressing his battle intent Mael sat down backstage and started to meditate. For the upcoming battle he can't afford to be careless.

Jasmine was strong but she was only a Level 1 Golden Immortal. The top warriors of this competition have much better cultivation than her. As he was meditating the contenders for the next battle caught his attention.

" Val vs Stacil! "

Looking up the display screen he saw two people stepping into the ring. One wore golden armour and had a Spear on his back. What caught Mael's attention was the other guy. He was twice the height of a normal person, strong and toned muscles lined his body and a huge axe was hanging on his back.

' His entire body seem like a terrible weapon. I can't imagine what he is like when wielding that Axe.'

The match started. Stacil was quick and drew his Spear, Saint energy started to gather around him. His figure disappeared and charged towards Val.

" Holy purge! "

Spear silhouettes were created around him. Each contained the power to destroy a small mountain. Val however was indifferent, gazing at the incoming attack he held the handle of his axe.

Veins started to bulge on arms. Taking out the huge Axe he swung at Stacil.

boom... boom...

One by one every spear was destroyed. But the power from that strike didn't vanish it broke through the wall of Spears and reached Stacil. Faced with the horrible power from Val's strike his face paled.

Pouring out every ounce of energy he had he formed a shield infront of him. Luckily it paid off and the attack was stopped. However his face changed the next moment, a huge Axe was already infront of him, about to tear him in two.

Aaaahhhhhh.....

Screaming at the top of his lungs he used his Spear to defend. The Axe made contact, and the Spear didn't even stop it for second before breaking in two.

No! I will die! He will Kill me!!

Stacil paled in horror. Under the immense pressure he fainted. Val stopped his Axe a hair breath away from Stacil's face. The referee found Stacil unconscious and declared Val winner.

Mael's eyes shrunk as he saw the battle. He couldn't help but clench his fist when he saw that power. Val was strong, stronger than Jasmine by a large margin.

Closing his eyes Mael breathed out. He couldn't wait to battle Val, he may... no, he will be the strongest person he has faced till now.

Soon Mael got called. His opponent wasn't that strong so it was a breeze for him. Watching the other battles Mael marked those who would pose a challenge to him. One among these people was called Leo.

His control over fire was amazing and what was shocking was his ability to use a True fire! The only person he has ever seen use a True Fire was master's friend.

' He can control True Fire well but... compared to Lord Madara he is too weak. Well... it's dumb to just compare someone to that person.'

" Next Mael vs Deisin "

Mael stood up. The other contenders watched Mael walk out, by now they knew Mael was a monstrous genius. One that comes once in several millennium.

Stepping into the arena Mael saw his opponent and showed a grin. Wearing golden clothes his opponent stood with a broad sword in his hands.

" I never thought you would reach this far in just two years."

Deisin said to Mael. Showing a faint smile Mael replied.

" There are many things you won't expect. One being your death, the other being me hunting down those Saint dogs."

Deisin revealed his murderous intent when Mael said those words.

" I see... beating those with higher realm gave you arrogance to think that you can beat me? "

" We'll see."

Start!

Deisin didn't wait any long and attacked. Mael was prepared. His Staff was already starting to shed it's black luster and soon it took the colour of a blood red staff with golden engravings all over its body.

Deisin was clear on Mael's strength. To defeat Jasmine... he was strong. And he must never underestimate him. From the beginning he went all out. Saint energy radiating off of his broad sword making the aid around it tremble.

Mael was extremely focused. His staff countered every attack coming at him with extreme precision. The aftershock was redirected and cancelled out.

For some time the audience could only see some blurs. Unlike the small damage done in his battle against Jasmine, this one was worse. Deisin was using a broad sword which in itself takes a lot of strength to wield.

And Mael used a staff which symbolises brute strength. This wasn't just a battle of skill bit also a battle of brute force. As the battle went on Deisin was startled, even with his power he wasn't gaining any advantage!

' Purge! '

Suddenly a bright halo surfaced his sword. Mael was surprised for a second and felt as if thousands of needles were stabbing his body.

' What the... Breakkkk!!! '

Circulating his energy furiously Mael used his staff. The energy from Deisin's sword was broken and attracted by Mael's staff. Deisin watched on with shock as his Saint energy was absorbed by Mael's staff.

' This is impossible!! '

The blood red colour seemed to get deeper. Mael smirked and launched himself towards Deisin. His staff was trembling from the power condensed within.

" Don't get cocky!! Saint Burner!! "

The Saint energy within his sword changed. A terrible heat was starting to spread from his sword. Mael felt his skin turn red from that power.

' Hmm...it's different. Huh? it's burning my energy!! '

Deisin moved. He didn't give Mael any chance and attacked head on. The energy from his sword was trying to drill into Mael's body and burn his energy. Understanding what Deisin was doing Mael smirked.

' Fool... if Demon Arhats were that easily defeated, we wouldn't be that scarce.'

Pushing his energy to its limit Mael rotated his staff with extreme speed.

' Demon Monk Staff Arts... Devour! "

Deisin was shocked again, he found his energy being devoured by Mael's staff. Just before he could snap out horror struck his face.

Mael jumped far into the sky and rotated the staff. The air was starting to stir causing the world to dim, clouds gathered far above them forming a sea of thunder clouds. Like a leviathan lurking beneath the seas thunder rumbled from time to time.

Even those sitting inside the VIP rooms felt their skin crawl. Under countless shocked eyes a thick pillar of lightning fell upon Mael, but it didn't harm him but instead condensed above his staff.

Within a split second Mael's staff gave off a bright blood colour causing the world to become a blood red one. Gazing down at Deisin a smile formed on his face.

" Demon Monk Staff Arts... Universal Destruction! "
