A War Between Spies Chapter 69

Yang Yi received twice the usual amount of food.

The person in-charge of handling food took a look at Yang Yi and then looked at the plate before returning his gaze back to Yang Yi  eyes filled with doubt.

Yang Yi was very happy when he saw another piece of meat being added to his bowl.

He immediately expressed his gratitude after receiving three times the normal amount of food. Yang Yi then moved to sit at an empty table.

On today's menu was Mexican cuisine. The main dish for the meal was burritos' tortillas stuffed with meat. The side dish was mashed potatoes.

Yang Yi started eating the moment he sat down due to the hunger he felt. There wouldn't be anyone who would come over this time to take his food.

Yang Yi finally saw Chris when he was halfway through his meal. Chris had a strange expression on his face when he saw Yang Yi. He stood there blankly holding his tray of food.

"Take a seat. What are you standing there for?"

Chris placed his tray opposite Yang Yi and sat down. The Boxing King's man was still collecting food from the other inmates but he didn't approach Yang Yi to collect his food. Even Chris's food was ignored.

Yang Yi looked around and saw the Boxing King's men but he didn't see the man himself anywhere. He then asked Chris softly, "How come the Boxing King isn't here?"

Chris swallowed and softly asked, "You don't know?"

"What should I know?"

Chris lowered his voice even further and said, "The Boxing King is still in hospital."

"Huh? He's actually still in hospital? Why hasn't he been discharged yet? It's been a week now."

Chris softly answered, "There was this rumor saying you had cut off his… his… his…"

Yang Yi impassively asked, "What did I cut?"

Chris showed him a very vulgar gesture. Yang Yi was puzzled and shook his head, "What does that mean? I just kicked him. I used a lot of force in the kick but it's not like I had much of a choice there. I didn't cut him though."

Chris quietly replied, "Don't ask me, that's just the rumor. Everyone has been talking about it. They also said you bit someone to death as well!"

"Bit someone to death? That's not true! At most I bit off a chunk of meat only. Is he still in the hospital too?"

"There are two who have been discharged."

Yang Yi took a deep breath, shook his head and smiled, "Rumor, it's just a rumor."

Chris gave him a disbelieving look and curiously asked, "So, how did you pull it off?"

"How did I pull what off?"

"It was the Boxing King! Moreover, he had a few men with him. So, how did you defeat all of them? Everyone said you know Kung Fu. You really know it? But you are Korean though."

Yang Yi replied with a shrug, "I don't know any Kung Fu. It was plain bravado. I didn't want to get screwed so I could only fight back. Fortunately, I am very lucky."

Chris still didn't seem like he believed him but Yang Yi had no intention to explain it any further. Chris was just a cellmate. He wouldn't help Yang Yi if he was in trouble and Yang Yi also wouldn't help Chris. It wasn't like there was a need to deepen their friendship.

That's because Yang Yi didn't belong on this side anymore. He wouldn't get released from prison and he would be moving to the felony section.

Originally, Yang Yi wanted to find someone to protect him in case the Boxing King wanted revenge. Now that the Boxing King was still in the hospital and he was definitely moving to the felony section, he couldn't be bothered to talk to Chris.

He was supposed to be happily enjoying his meal but the mood vanished the moment Buddy arrived.

Buddy put down his meal tray and sat next to Yang Yi.  He acted all familiar and placed his hand on Yang Yi's shoulder and smiled, "Bro, how was it being locked up in solitary confinement?"

"There's nothing much to it. It's terrible."

"I think so too. Bro, you still owe me two hundred and fifty dollars."

The first thing he mentioned was the two hundred and fifty dollars. Yang Yi answered in a displeased tone, "I'm not sure if I have received my money yet. I will pass you the money if I have it. Err, let me make a phone call later."

Buddy happily nodded his head and replied, "Just pass me two hundred dollars. You don't have to give me two hundred and fifty dollars since we are friends. Friends are entitled to a discount."

Yang Yi froze for a moment. There were just too many surprises today. Everyone seemed to be trying to give him benefits. What was going on exactly?

"What's with the special treatment?"

"Didn't I say you're my bro? So, did you really cripple the Boxing King?"

Yang Yi answered in confusion, "I didn't cripple him. I only kicked him once."

Buddy looked around and lowered his voice mysteriously, "The exact news was that the Boxing King's lower part had to be removed because you shattered it with a kick! It's the truth. All the guards know it. Moreover, the Boxing King was sobbing like a woman when he was informed it needed to be removed. My bad, he can only be a woman in the future."

Yang Yi asked in surprise, "Is it really that serious?"

"Yup, that's what happened!"

Yang Yi carefully recalled what had happened. He wasn't entirely sure how much strength he had used but he had definitely exerted all his strength into the kick. At that time, he was just worried that the kick might not hit the target or wouldn't be strong enough to hurt the Boxing King.

He never expected this one kick of his would turn the Boxing King into a eunuch.

Letting out a cold breath, Yang Yi quietly said, "Well, he deserves it."

Buddy chuckled twice and said in admiration, "There's also the fact that you walked out from solitary confinement without assistance. Bro, are your nerves made of steel? That's just too impressive! No wonder Cato personally escorted you here. He is actually very strict but he didn't treat you in the same way he does others."

Yang Yi dubiously asked, "He's very strict?"

"Of course! Bro, everyone is afraid of him. This guy is heartless but he has good eyes though. He's showing you respect because he admires you."

After giving it some thought, he curiously asked, "Is it that amazing to be able to walk out from solitary confinement on your own?"

Buddy solemnly answered, "Bro, there are very few inmates who can walk out on their own after being in solitary confinement for more than three days. As for those who have been inside for seven days, you are the first one to walk out on your own. First, bro! First!"

Yang Yi finally understood why Cato was treating him nicely. It was simply because he had walked out on his own. Still, wasn't this going a bit overboard?

When Buddy saw the confusion on Yang Yi's face, he said, "Bro, the guards are very strict right? Nonetheless, they are not stupid. Very few inmates would dare to seek them out for revenge after being released from prison. Those who dare to do so must be crazy. So, what if the inmate is crazy?"

Yang Yi frowned, "What do you mean by that?"

Buddy answered while laughing, "No offense bro. For someone who was totally fine even after being in solitary confinement for seven days, there's no longer anyone who will willingly provoke you regardless of whether you're truly crazy or not."
