A True Divine Artifact
The Self-Healing Armor was discovered by Xiao Bai's Ghoul squad after excavating the collapsed section of the base. They found it deep within a largely intact cold storage facility.
Inside were vast stores of chitin, which Xiao Bai appropriated and put to use with his previously acquired Construction Modules.
As a Legacy-grade device, its operation proved relatively straightforward. Through trial and error, combined with research from academic papers, Xiao Bai managed to create several Embryonic Fragments—essentially biological components.
Normally, transforming fragments into embry os, and then embryos into finished products, would be a long and arduous process. But by cleverly combining the Embryonic Fragments with additional chitin using his Panel, Xiao Bai bypassed this process and created a bizarre, indescribable organ-like mass.
After stuffing this thing behind the reactor, it absorbed a critical amount of energy and began to rapidly develop. It spread over Xiao Bai's body like a layer of viscous slime, gradually solidifying into a thin layer of black armor.
The material resembled both metal and a hardened exoskeleton, smooth, light, and so thin it felt almost weightless, as if a single breath could pierce it.
The armor's defensive capabilities were astonishing . Xiao Bai tested it with his Chainsaw Sword, a weapon capable of molecular-level cutting. Even this powerful tool could only scrape fine sparks from the armor's surface, leaving barely perceptible scratches that repaired themselves in the blink of an eye.
Normally, to resist such a weapon, one would need the latest Mirror Alloy—the very material his mech was primarily made of. Even then, it would only change the effect from "a sharp saber cutting tofu" to "a dull saber cutting meat." The Biological Armor's performance was far beyond anything conventional.
As for its waterproofing and corrosion resistance, Xiao Bai hadn't had a chance to test them yet, but he suspected they were equally impressive.
The armor's main drawback was its thinness, which compromised its ability to withstand blunt impacts. While bullets and shells couldn't penetrate it, the impact force still damaged the mech's internal components.
This wasn't a major issue, however, as electromagnetic shields excelled at defending against projectile weapons, creating a perfect complement to the armor's strengths.
With these two defensive systems, combined with the mech's standard armor plating, Xiao Bai's total Defense stat soared to 300 points—far surpassing standard mecha. This finally gave him a long-awaited sense of security.
In addition to the stockpile of chitin, Xiao Bai discovered a complete embryo of a Biological Mecha in the cold storage unit.
It was the black Biological Mecha worn by the Defense Force officer in the video footage, likely a backup model. All it needed was to be thawed and fully matured in the Cultivation Pod before it could be worn.
Xiao Bai had no immediate use for it, so he left it soaking in the Cultivation Pod for a while until it became his own. He then stored it in his Storage Space, occasionally taking it out for study. The defensive capabilities of the Biological Armor were primarily tested using this suit...
Surprisingly, the Panel didn't recognize it as a living organism.
As for the other contents of the Cold Storage, Xiao Bai detonated them all with rockets after completing the Absorption process. He then had the Ghoul fill the area with dirt, burying everything securely.
Strictly speaking, that place should have been called a "morgue." Row upon row of frozen coffins held grotesque, barely human remains, along with twisted, deformed organs...
Even now, recalling the contents of that place still made Xiao Bai feel sick.
Fortunately, the other excavated areas weren't so bizarre and contained plenty of useful items.
Of particular note was the nearly intact Automated Production Workshop.
The facility was remarkably well-preserved. Three automated assembly lines, dedicated to drones, mechanical dogs, and remote-controlled vehicles, remained largely undamaged.
The inventory of spare parts was limited. Even after Xiao Bai restored power to the workshop using his reactor, he could only assemble a dozen drones before running out of components.
But that wasn't the main point. After completely draining the entire workshop, Xiao Bai created a true Divine Artifact:
Pocket Factory : A conceptual-level production facility existing within a specialized miniature space. It can dismantle metallic materials into their most fundamental elements and reassemble them into required devices, weapons, parts, and materials.
The smaller text below added:
"I can take down an entire army by myself!"
Xiao Bai had initially thought that 'hypothetical-level' creations were already absurd enough, never imagining there could be 'conceptual-level' artifacts. He didn't even bother trying to understand the details or principles; this was already venturing into the realm of fantasy.
Even more astonishingly, this device could operate within the Storage Space, unlike other mechanisms that would completely shut down when stored.
On the panel display, it appeared as a GIF animation, showing a cartoonish factory icon constantly in motion.
However, Xiao Bai's current "Pocket Factory" was far from such grand ambitions. It was merely a prototype that, given sufficient energy, could convert scrap metal into ammunition in two different calibers. Its efficiency was also rather mediocre.
For now, it could only alleviate Xiao Bai's ammunition anxiety...
But just like the "Terror Turtle," it could be continuously upgraded to produce a wider range of goods. Xiao Bai believed that one day, an endless stream of mecha would emerge from it, forming an army capable of overwhelming everything in its path.
Of co urse, upgrading this thing wouldn't be as straightforward as feeding the Terror Turtle. It required massive quantities of parts, energy, and various automated production equipment and modules, including many devices Xiao Bai had never even heard of before.
Just assembling it had completely depleted two weeks' worth of his savings, leaving him with only one new weapon completed—
Plasma Launcher: A Fede ration Academy of Sciences energy weapon based on Paradise Technology, designed for Giant Mecha. The high-temperature, high-speed plasma it fires can melt most materials, but its excessive energy consumption has kept it in the prototype verification stage.
The small print below exuded a palpable sense of resignation:
"This is our sharpest spear, yet no one can wield it."
Though merely a prototype weapon, potentially less practical than traditional arms, Xiao Bai gritted his teeth and assembled it anyway.
It may be useless, but I can't be without it...
Its appearance r esembled a sci-fi electromagnetic cannon, consisting of two vertically parallel magnetic rails forming the barrel, with a massive, circular structure behind, vaguely resembling an enormous whistle. It could be mounted on the shoulder via a movable bracket.
Each use required a lengthy charging time, and a single shot consumed so much energy that Xiao Bai was forced to upgrade his Energy Storage Battery; otherwise, he wouldn't be able to fire even a single shot.
With his current reactor, using this weapon was indeed pushing things too far.
Fortunately, its power was unmatched among his arsenal. A single shot could rival the destructive effect of the Great Demon Lord of Discharge, making it a formidable trump card.
However, the Great Demon Lord's attack affected entire groups...
