Zaffar was bound in chains and tied to a pole in a tent . . he felt useless,' death would have been better than this' . . he thought that his move before the war was good . . that day, General Mirza came to meet him . . scenes were playing in his mind . .
General Mirza was an average looking person, he had a forgettable face and personality . . but behind that there was a master mind . . he was an extraordinary warrior too . .
As Zaffar was getting dressed for the war on last day, he came in, he was fiercely loyal to Zaffar, he said, 'your highness, I fear that today's war . . we might lose . . ' Zaffar said, 'yes, the odds are against us, but we don't have a choice . . what do you suggest? . '
Mirza said, 'your highness, today I will be dressed as a common soldier and I will be fighting them . . in case we lose . . I will try to escape and get Shah's help . . ' Zaffar said, 'Why will Shah help us . . his men left us . . and we don't have what he wants . . Samyukta . . ' Mirza said, 'your highness, Shah is ambitious for valuable treasures . . ' Zaffar said irritatedly, 'yes, but there is no treasure here . . ' Mirza said, 'your highness, I read a scroll about a treasure hidden in the mountains of Vindhyas, it remained buried in the ground for hundreds of years . . and no one knows about this in Hindustan . . it is said that this treasure was so valuable that it would be sufficient to feed a hundred generations of a whole country . . ' Zaffar said, 'Mirza, if there is a treasure that great . . how come no one knows about it . . ? ' he replied, 'this treasure was found by Varaha . . who was a small king in southern Hindustan during his expedition . . he wrote about it in a scroll, he wanted to submit it to the Gupta dynasty . . before that he was killed by a poisonous snake bite . . this scroll was written in Persian language . . so no one was able to decipher it for a period of time . . I came across this scroll by luck . . '
Zaffar said, 'do you have it now? ' Mirza nodded and handed him a scroll . . Zaffar read it and his eyes became big with shock . . he said, 'this treasure . . negotiate well with Shah . . off you go . . don't wait for the war . . dress as a common person and leave now . . I am relying on you for this . . ' Mirza said, 'hail Zaffar! ' and left . .
Now Mirza was away from the war site and heading towards the Sindhu River . . everything depended on him . . if things went smoothly as planned . . they will have Zaffar and the generals freed and they will also have a substantial amount of treasure in their hands . . Shah can have Hindustan and Samyukta . . Zaffar and him would be happy to have part of treasure and Pinaka's head . .
