A Slave who became Emperor Chapter 38

Dawn approached, celebrations started, entire city of Indraprastha was decorated with colourful flowers and mango leaves (in Indian tradition mango leaves are considered auspicious) . Every citizen of the city was dressed in their best . The Temple in the city centre was filled with devotees . Men and women who were proficient in cooking joined the team of Royal cooks to help them . Teenage girls and young women were helping in decorating the palace and the area at which festivities were planned .

Every citizen of the Gupta empire was headed towards the Royal capital to see their emperor and the Prince . They missed their emperor dearly all these years . Their suffering has finally come to an end .

Meanwhile Pinaka went to address the army along with Shiva, Indra and Varuna . Pinaka said, 'brothers, it's a pleasure to meet all of you today . . with Dusherra I promise that your days of hardships are over and new spring has come to refresh us . Firstly if there's any one who is loyal to Devadatta, you can leave the empire immediately . . ' no one moved, Pinaka continued, 'I promise that no harm will come to you . ' none moved . . then he said, 'ok, I will trust all of you with my life . . in case anyone cheats me, the person will be killed on spot . . next Shiva will pick thirty men, they will be called as Shiva Sena (Senarmy;Shiva SenShiva's army) they will be trained by me personally and they will be the most elite batch of army, I will be watching their progress personally . . then Indra will pick fifteen men who will be called Indra Sena (Indra's army) they will be responsible for covert operations and secret missions, next Varuna will pick fifteen men, they will be called Varuna Sena (Varuna's army) they will be my eyes and ears across the empire . . every minute detail will be made known to me . . all of you along with me must ensure that the complete empire should be peaceful all the time . . brothers now join me in the celebrations . . '

Everyone were happy . . they were satisfied with the way Pinaka spoke to them . . he addressed them as brothers . . Devadatta treated them as slaves, this was refreshing . . they felt satisfied . . they were happy how Pinaka created three teams . . they liked his foresight . .

Pinaka moved towards the arena where the celebrations were being conducted . The emperor and the empress were sitting on the main seats watching the proceedings . . Samyukta was sitting close by . . there were bull fights going on in five arenas simultaneously . . one bull tossed a person with horns away and wanted to trample the man, few experts ran into the arena and stopped the bull . . it took ten men to tackle it . .

Pinaka smiled, he jumped into the arena with the berserk bull . . he has to tackle it and tame it . . the bull's name was Basava . He was a heavily built, ferocious bull, with a huge hump and long curved horns . . . he brushed his hooves menacingly on the ground . . he rushed towards Pinaka . .

Pinaka waited till the last minute without moving, he sverved in the opposite direction in the last moment . . the bull went ahead and stopped . . the bull grunted angrily and turned, Pinaka smiled at it and instigated it again . . his teasing smile made the bull more angry . . the bull rushed again towards Pinaka, this time he waited and tried to hold on to the bull's horns . . the bull tried to push Pinaka away, he bent low and held onto the bull's neck with his hands . . he was hanging on the lower side of the bull . . everyone felt their heart skip a beat . . it was a dangerous site . . the bull was rushing ahead with full speed, trying to get Pinaka off his body . . suddenly the bull stopped and sverved making Pinaka lose grip . .
