A Slave who became Emperor Chapter 27

The guards surrounded Pinaka and his men, he had no way to escape . . there were almost twenty guards surrounding the four men . The guards were advancing towards them, Pinaka was having a sword in one hand, he pulled an axe from his clothing, and held it in his left hand . . he didn't wait for the guards to come at him . . he cried, 'death to traitors' and ran towards the guards . . the men too roared along with Pinaka and followed him .

Pinaka went and beheaded one guard with a sword, he turned around and struck another guard with his axe . . one guard tried to strike at Pinaka's neck, Pinaka bent down and pierced the guard in his stomach . . and twisted the sword inside the stomach making his blood gush out of his stomach . .

Shiva was fighting two men simultaneously, Pinaka saw that a guard was trying to strike Shiva from the back, he threw his axe towards that guard, it landed in his chest making the guard fall . . three men were down . . Shiva Beheaded one man, he cut down the arm of another guard . . two other men of Pinaka's party killed a man each . .

The guards became more cautious . . they tried to surround each man, Shiva extracted the axe from the dead man's chest and threw it towards Pinaka . . he caught it and struck one man's throat just like a piece of wood . .

Pinaka seemed to be everywhere, he killed two other men, all four of them (Pinaka and men) had superior combat skills, these ordinary guards were not a match to them . . suddenly Pinaka felt that there was someone behind him . . as he turned he saw the man who tried to strike him fall . . he had an arrow struck in his spine . .

He looked towards the stairs, there was Samyukta with her bow and arrow, she was just in time, all the men behind Samyukta came forward and started slaughtering the guards . . soon the corridor was filled with corpses . .

All hell broke lose, each guard was killed on the spot . . then Pinaka headed towards the faint light at the end of the corridor, he was carrying a fire torch in his hand . .

As he approached the light, he saw twenty more guards coming towards him, Samyukta started raining arrows, she made five men fall . . some of the men on Pinaka's side threw spears that pierced right through the hearts, more guards fell . .

Pinaka was least bothered . . he looked like a god of death . . his eyes were blood shot . . he looked dangerous . . he kept moving forward . . with every step he took, he killed one guard . . Samyukta continued raining arrows at the guards, some guards were struck in the eye, making them blind . .

Pinaka kept moving, his men joined him and started to strike the guards, they cleared a path for Pinaka . . he kept walking towards the light . .

As soon as he neared the light, he realized that it was a small prison . . he went ahead and looked into the prison . . it was empty . . the empress was not there . . .

there was a dagger stuck into the wall . . in the faint candle light Pinaka saw that the dagger was holding a scroll which was fluttering in the wind . . . he fell on his knees and uttered an earth shattering roar . . .

Everyone froze in their tracks, few guards who were remaining fled . . Samyukta was the only one who dared to approach Pinaka . . she extended her arm and placed it on his shoulder . . he refused to look at her . . . she sat down on her knees, facing Pinaka, she extended her arms and cupped his face . . there was utter despair on his face . . his eyes looked defeated . .

Samyukta helped him to raise . . she too looked at the scroll, they went into the prison and removed the dagger, Samyukta held the scroll and read it, she was completely shocked, she took a deep breath and read what was written, . .

'I know that you will come for your mother, but I under estimated your speed, you could trace her so easily, I kept her here, but she has been taken back into the Royal Palace now . She is being held captive in the jail with all the common prisoners . . she is being tortured now . . . . if you want your mother to live, ask all your people to go out of the building . . . you have to come and fight me . . . come alone through the tunnel into the Royal Palace . . . that dog Shiva will show you the way . . don't try to act smart and play with me, your mother's life is at stake . . . ' it was signed by Devadatta . .
