A Demon's Path Volume 1 Chapter 36

A copper leg that was as thick and solid as a metal pillar was swinging right by Cheng Yu's head. An intense will to fight surged in her heart as she faced her opponent. She steeled her heart, no longer backing away, and jumped up into the air.

Little Zhu's copper leg swept past her by a hair’s breadth. Cheng Yu landed on Little Zhu's raised shank and seized the opportunity to jump up again. With her sword in hand, she fiercely brandished it and slashed at Little Zhu.

It all happened in the blink of an eye. The movement Cheng Yu performed, the act of going on the offensive, was extremely dangerous. If she was just a tad bit slower, Little Zhu's leg would've landed squarely on her. In the best case scenario, she would've walked away with a broken leg.

Cheng Qiantai watched the scene unfold from the grandstand and sharply inhaled a cold breath of air. When did my girl become so brave?

Li Yuanhuan was no different from his Master, full of worry. But when he finally saw Cheng Yu going on the offense he could slowly feel a weight being lifted off his shoulders.

Little Zhu had nowhere to hide when faced with Cheng Yu's aggressive sword attacks at such a close range. Many thought that Little Zhu would have his skin slashed open at the very least.

However, a glint of confidence flashed in Little Zhu's eyes. It seemed as though he had long since prepared for Cheng Yu's counterattack. He raised his hands in a composed manner and clapped them together. Unexpectedly, he'd actually sandwiched Cheng Yu's sword between his palms when it was only centimeters away from penetrating his skull, right between the eyes!

Cheng Yu's expression faltered. He actually cultivated both the Metal Hand and Copper Leg techniques!

Little Zhu didn't leave Cheng Yu much time to ponder over things as he seized the opportunity to press her sword down with one hand whilst his other headed straight for her throat. He was ruthless without consideration of the fairer sex. Even Ling Xiao felt a little uncomfortable watching their match unfold. How can he be like this? He doesn't show Senior Sister any mercy! I know she isn't some nation-toppling beauty, but she's still beautiful. You didn't even take a good look at her. Aren't you being a little disrespectful to Senior Brother?!

Cheng Yu naturally didn't have the time to think of such matters. She had no choice but to jump down to the ground and retreat back a few meters. She narrowly dodged this fatal strike without mishap.

On the other side of the battlefield, Qian Hai and Big Zhu's were entangled in a violent clash. Both of them were exchanging fierce blows. Qian Hai dodged Big Zhu's kick and took the opportunity to stab him in the chest. Big Zhu kicked out again and countered Qian Hai's sword. He quickly followed up with another kick that was aimed at Qian Hai's throat.

Clank! Big Zhu's leg grazed Qian Hai's sword yet again. He kicked him so hard that Qian Hai's whole arm felt numb, nearly dropping his sword.

A short ceasefire took shape as both duos seized the opportunity to retreat back a few steps. Big Zhu and Little Zhu collected themselves together, whereas Qian Hai and Cheng Yu were now standing beside Ling Xiao.

The battle so far was short but arduous, leaving Ling Xiao's team with the upperhand. Big Zhu and Little Zhu glanced at Pockmark as a wave of fear washed over them. Ling Xiao had stomped on him until his mother couldn't recognise him anymore.

They knew Pockmark's strength, but Ling Xiao had disposed of him in just a few moves. If that was the case, their opponent's strength was far beyond their own!

Leaving Ling Xiao aside, the brothers weren't even confident they could take down his two teammates. As such, Big Zhu and Little Zhu felt an urge to withdraw from the match take over them.

However, the brothers recalled Ling Xiao saying he wouldn't interfere. They retained a hint of hope, albeit minute. Since the strongest one refuses to fight, we'll defeat the other two first, then worry about that guy. We might still have a chance! Moreover, they still hadn't shown every skill in their arsenal. One technique in particular they believed could turn the tides of this battle. They felt reluctant to give up just like that.

The brothers exchanged a glance and nodded with a mutual understanding. "Let's go!"

Qian Hai and Cheng Yu didn't take it lying down when they saw the brothers make their move. They raised their swords and welcomed the attack head on. Ling Xiao still refused to join the fray as he stood at the corner of the field in a carefree manner, elegantly watching his team members fight for their lives.

The two brothers were prepared for when Cheng Yu and Qian Hai rushed up to them as they quickly changed their stance. They stood back to back, tightly interlocking their arms. Big Zhu raised Little Zhu up in a circular movement, enabling him to kick toward Cheng Yu and Qian Hai at top speed. When Little Zhu's feet landed on the ground, he took over Big Zhu's job and vice versa, allowing for a continuous series of attacks. Their attack was so intense it forced Cheng Yu and Qian Hai back on the defensive.

"I don't see an opening!" Beads of sweat rolled down Cheng Yu's face, sticking a wisp of her beautiful hair to the side of her forehead. It made her seem a little shabby.

Qian Hai replied as he blocked the brothers' Whirlwind Kick. "I don't see an opening either. We can only take one step at a time. They'll run out of energy before us, so all we have to do is persevere! When they're exhausted, we'll come up with a strategy."

However, the brothers didn't seem interested in letting Qian Hai have his way. The frequency of their attack increased. It was so fast that the trajectory of their kicks formed a series of afterimages, nearly turning into a real tornado!

Before long, the two brothers didn't have a shred of energy left in them. Qian Hai was still alright, but Cheng Yu couldn't hold on much longer.

They're useless! Ling Xiao spat out a mouthful of saliva in frustration. "Even if they have indestructible legs, do you think they're tougher than your swords?"

Ling Xiao's words were like a wake up call to Cheng Yu and Qian Hai. Everything seemed to become as clear as day to them. "That's right! If we work together, we can chop their legs off!"

Cheng Yu and Qian Hai moved shoulder to shoulder, clapping their swords together before gathering their soulforces into the swords. They aimed at the center of Big Zhu's foot and stabbed out simultaneously. Two orange soulforces coursed through the swords and into the bottom of Big Zhu's feet.

"Aaahhhhhh!" Big Zhu's kick sent Cheng Yu and Qian Hai's swords flying. Neither of them had the time to release their swords, so they gracefully arced through the air with their weapon. On the other side, Big Zhu was left in a tragic state. The combined attack left a small bleeding hole on the underside of his foot. When his foot hit the ground, he felt a stabbing pain shoot up. Big Zhu could barely keep himself standing straight, so there was no hope of him lifting his younger brother up. In his current condition, there was no way his leg could support their combined weight.

Little Zhu immediately let go of his older brother's arms, dissolving the pair's unparalleled Whirlwind Kick.

Cheng Yu and Qian Hai crawled up from the ground and wiped the blood from the corner of their mouths. They were prepared to rush up once more when they suddenly heard Little Zhu scream out, "Don't hurt us! We surrender!"

"Little bro!" Big Zhu's eyes held grief and indignation. "Big bro is useless!"

Little Zhu had a gloomy expression. "We really are no match for them. What other choice do we have? Daddy was watching us. He must know we've done our best." After he said that, Little Zhu looked at Ling Xiao. There wasn't the slightest hint of fury or resentment in his eyes. "Distinguished sire, your boxing techniques are not only stronger than ours, but your foresight is crueler than others'. Anyone else would definitely think of a way to break up our combined attack or even to evade it. Distinguished sire, only you did the very opposite of what everyone else would do. You knew our weakest point is actually where our strongest point lies, too. Distinguished sire, we feel no injustice losing to you."

Little Zhu was conceding to Ling Xiao. Even so, Qian Hai and Cheng Yu didn't have a single complaint. This was because Little Zhu spoke the truth. If Qian Hai and Cheng Yu were alone in this match, it would've been impossible for them to defeat the brothers.

Ling Xiao didn't feel a shred of joy in defeating them. Instead, he asked them, "Is your sect going to be annexed because you lost here?"

Big Zhu and Little Zhu nodded and returned a rhetorical question, "You guys are in the same boat?"

"Yeah, you're right. You both are brave men who dare to lose and admit defeat. I admire you guys and because of that, I have something to tell you," Ling Xiao bluntly replied.

A look of astonishment flitted past the brothers' faces as they waited for Ling Xiao to divulge what he wanted to tell them.

Ling Xiao didn't say anything out loud, but rather walked up to the brothers and whispered a few sentences only they could hear.

In the next moment, Cheng Yu and Qian Hai saw the brothers turn even paler, looking like terminally ill patients. "What you're saying, it's too shocking…"

"Believe it or not, I don't care." Ling Xiao was expressionless as he added, "You can go back and discuss it with your father, but you must remember not to let any outsider hear you. Not even your closest friends!"

"Many thanks to Senior Brother for your words of wisdom." The two brothers deeply bowed toward Ling Xiao. Everyone watching this scene was baffled. What's going on? They were fighting on their own merry way, how did this scene come about?

However, those who watched the match knew the outcome. The Northern Jade Sect had won!
