A Demon's Path Volume 1 Chapter 31

Li Yuanhuan, Cheng Yu, and Qian Hai were taking a stroll together. Cheng Yu and Qian Hai were talking and laughing along the way, ignoring Li Yuanhuan as though he was air. Li Yuanhuan wasn't angry with this treatment. He seemed to adapt to his role as their bodyguard with ease, seriously surveying the surroundings for a hint of danger from their shadows.

All of a sudden, it seemed as though Qian Hai had seen something amusing. He smiled at Cheng Yu and said, "Maiden Cheng, head over to that teahouse with Senior Brother Li and wait for me. I'll come back in a bit."

Even though Cheng Yu was curious about what Qian Hai was going to do, she still went according to his wishes. She took Li Yuanhuan to the nearest teahouse as she waited for him to return.

Qian Hai watched them off before he turned into a small, desolate alley. He looked at a man whose face was hidden behind a conical bamboo hat and asked, "Are you selling that kind of medicine?"

The mysterious person replied in a hushed voice, "That's right. Young Master, you really have a good eye! You'll get the best medicine from me. As long as she takes this medicine of mine, be she a 6 year old girl or an 80 year old grandmother, I guarantee she'll… Heheh. You know what I mean."

Qian Hai had an impatient look on his face. "Cut the chit chat. How much is it?"

"They're sold at a flat rate. Normal ones cost 10 red gems, colourless and tasteless ones cost 30 red gems." The guy took out two pills slightly larger than a grain of rice as he continued, "Which one would you like to buy, Young Master?"

Qian Hai took 30 red gems out. "I want the colourless and tasteless one."

"Good choice!" The mystery guy immediately chose one of the small white pills and handed it over to Qian Hai, who took the pill without another word before walking off.

"Haha, I met a big fat pig!" The mystery guy took off his conical bamboo hat, revealing a filthy face. From the looks of it, he seemed to be no older than 15.

"Indeed, he is a big fat pig. At most, that medicine of yours is worth 10 red gems." The mysterious youngster's train of thoughts was cut short when he heard a voice behind him, giving him the fright of his life. He quickly turned around to see who it was.

It was unknown when a youngster no older than 19 had appeared behind him. That youngster was looking at him, beaming with smiles plastered on his cheeky face.

"How did you know?" The younger boy's face turned menacing. "You aren't in cahoots with that guy, right? Are you trying to get his money back?"

The older boy was glowing. "No, no. We're of the same trade, you and I, so I understand the value of your pills. The only thing I'm curious about is how effective they are."

The younger boy exhaled deeply in relief. "Oh, you scared me! Well, I'll tell you about these pills. I can assure you it's definitely effective aside from it being slightly more expensive. I concocted it using a mixture of various intense herbs. It's my secret recipe!"

The older boy had somewhat of a shocked expression on his face. "Oh! I'll buy the same pill he did from you for 10 red gems. How about it?"

The younger boy giggled and said, "Since we're of the same trade, I naturally have no problem cutting you a deal as long as you don't do business on my turf."

The older boy took a carbon copy of the small white pill Qian Hai bought from the younger boy's hand. He nodded in agreement, feeling very satisfied with his purchase. "Indeed, this is not bad. See you around, brother!"

When the younger boy came to his senses, the other had already disappeared without a trace.

So, he's actually a very impressive counterpart! The younger boy thought to himself in awe. Thankfully, he didn't seem to be out for my business. If he wanted to bully me, there really isn't a thing I could do about it. The young boy shook his head like an experienced person and went on to scout out his next target.

Ling Xiao was naturally the one who bought the pill. When he heard that Qian Hai went out with Li Yuanhuan and Cheng Yu, he felt pissed off for some strange reason and ended up following them. Before long, he found Qian Hai buying a pill in secret.

After Ling Xiao studied it, he realised that although the boy's pill was a little worse than the ones he concocted, its effects did spark more violently. It really was worthy of its name as the Wolf Tiger Pill.

"He really is skillful, heh!" Ling Xiao smiled and kept the pill in his chain's depository before heading to the teahouse where Cheng Yu and Li Yuanhuan were at.

It hadn't been long after Cheng Yu and Li Yuanhuan sat down when a group of people barged in. A young girl was amongst them, wailing as she pointed at Li Yuanhuan. "Brothers, this is the heartless traitor who forced me to bear his child and then callously abandoned me. You guys must help me fight for justice!"

The band of men had anger written all over their faces as they hauled Li Yuanhuan outside with all their might. "You heartless traitor! Come, you're following us back to the Liu Family!"

"I don't know the young lady! I've never seen her before!" Li Yuanhuan urgently exclaimed.

How could that band of merry men be willing to listen to Li Yuanhuan's explanation? They dragged him along with them as they left. Even though Li Yuanhuan was a skillful man, he didn't dare raise his hand on ordinary folks, lest he accidentally injured them. So, he could only obediently follow the group outside.

He believed that the girl must've gotten the wrong person. There was no reason to be hostile when a simple explanation would suffice.

Cheng Yu was left sitting alone in the teahouse. Naturally, she believed Li Yuanhuan wasn't the kind of person to do that kind of thing and believed he could resolve this matter properly. As such, she wasn't all that worried about him. She patiently waited for him and Qian Hai.

At this moment, Qian Hai walked in with a huge pile of items. "Maiden Cheng, I've let you wait for far too long. Please, accept my apologies."

Cheng Yu saw the toys Qian Hai brought over. They were all trinkets and jewelry young ladies would adore and the same ones she'd fancied when she entered the city. She couldn't help but rejoice internally. As expected, Young Master Qian understands a girl's heart the best. He's nothing like Senior Brother!

When she thought of Li Yuanhuan, Ling Xiao naturally floated into Cheng Yu's mind. But she unconsciously disregarded that hateful fellow from her mind.

Cheng Yu took one item in her hand, while her eyes were already focused on the next. She fondled every one of them admiringly. "You left just now to buy me all these things?"

Qian Hai pretended to be bashful. "I'm not worried if Maiden Cheng laughs at me, but that's right. I went to do that."

Cheng Yu was extremely happy. "Thank you very much, Young Master Qian."

Qian Hai sat down and casually asked, "I saw a group of people dragging Senior Brother Li outside just now. I wonder what happened."

It was rare for Cheng Yu to laugh, but she did. "It's nothing. Some woman holding a grudge probably got the wrong person. We'll just wait here for Senior Brother. I'm sure he'll sort everything out in a bit."

Qian Hai laughed along with her. "It really is a sight to marvel. Oh right, Maiden Cheng, did you guys not order tea? I'll go over to the counter and order some tea and cakes. Maiden Cheng, please wait a moment."

"Hey-" Cheng Yu didn't have time to say anything more as Qian Hai was already walking over to the counter. She felt extremely puzzled by his actions. Can't he just call a waiter over? He really is an attentive guy.

Qian Hai walked over to the counter and whispered to the waiter, "Put this pill into one of the cups and serve it to the young lady sitting right across from me."

The waiter was taken aback, but he soon realised that Qian Hai had handed him an orange gem together with the pill. He readily took the hint and quickly donned smiles on his face. "Of course, you can trust me."

The waiter had just walked into the inner hall of the teahouse to prepare the tea, but was surprised to find someone waiting for him. "Did that person just ask you to drug the tea?"

The waiter's heart sank. With a sullen look on his face, he tried to explain himself, "Respectable guest, I-"

The young man smiled and patted the waiter's shoulder. "It's alright. I won't tell anyone. But you'll have to put this pill in that guest's tea, too. This will be your reward." At that, the young man gave the waiter an orange gem.

A radiant light shone in the waiter's eyes when he saw the orange gem. "Well said, well said!"

Several minutes later, the waiter walked out with a tea tray that had two cups and one pot of tea on it. The young man intentionally took a whiff of it and nodded in satisfaction. "You did very well. Go on your way!"

The waiter looked like a small child who'd been praised after doing a good deed as he excitedly walked to the outer hall with the tea. He poured a cup for Qian Hai and Cheng Yu. "Please, enjoy your tea. I'll prepare the cakes for you right now."

The waiter was about to place the tea on the table in front of Qian Hai when his hand suddenly trembled, almost spilling it over him. "Respectable guest, I'm really sorry. The tea is too hot."

Qian Hai secretly cursed the waiter for being a stupid pig. But in front of Cheng Yu, he had to maintain his perfect image. He gave the waiter a slight smile and said, "It's alright. You may take your leave."

The waiter seemed to be relieved from his burden and couldn't wait to slip away.

When the waiter left, Qian Hai's smile immediately grew wider as he said, "Maiden Cheng, I heard the Four Leaves Tea here is splendid. Have a taste and tell me what you think."

Cheng Yu took the cup in her hands and took a sip. "Yeah, it's not bad. Hmm? How come you're not drinking?"

"Oh." Qian Hai also took the tea cup in his hands and gulped it down. "Yes, it's excellent. It really is a good tea."

Once the tea entered his belly, Qian Hai immediately felt a surge of demonic fire burning especially ferociously in his lower abdomen. He knew something was wrong as he cried out in his head, Dammit! Did the waiter mess up?

Cheng Yu also felt her body burning as she sat right opposite Qian Hai. His face was flushed red with excitement and the look in his eyes resembled that of an evil wolf looking at its food. Alarm bells started ringing in Cheng Yu's heart. However, the heat in her stomach was too intense. Cheng Yu only wanted to strip herself bare and jump into a lake for a nice, cold bath. Qian Hai grabbed her small hand just as she was about to get up. "Maiden Cheng, I-"

Cheng Yu didn't really understand matters between men and women. Even so, any woman knew what it meant when a man's eyes were always fixated on her bosom and buttocks. Cheng Yu was so angry that she viciously slapped Qian Hai across the face. "Shameless!"

Qian Hai was confused and disoriented after Cheng Yu slapped him, releasing his grip on her hand. She took the opportunity to break free and dashed out of the teahouse, fleeing to the streets.

She escaped to a small, desolate alley. She really couldn't stand the parched feeling along with the heat boiling inside of her. She weakly leaned against the wall with her face flushed red, unable to move even an inch.

At this moment, that incomparably hateful fellow appeared before her and crouched down so they were at eye level. With a cheeky smile on his face, he asked, "Senior Sister, how do you feel?"

Even though Cheng Yu was so hot it was almost unbearable, she was incomparably clear-headed. "You son of a bitch! You pulled this trick! Father won't let you get away with this!"

Ling Xiao spoke in a very innocent manner, "I'm sorry, I'm not the one who put the pill in your tea. I only put one in Qian Hai's."

Cheng Yu couldn't be bothered to listen to Ling Xiao's explanation as she panted out, "Bastard! I don't care about what you did, help me get rid of this drug!"

"Senior Sister, is this the attitude you have when asking people for help? If you're asking me for a favour, you'll have to look the part!" Ling Xiao coldly countered.

Cheng Yu felt like she would combust. She couldn't guarantee she wouldn't just strip herself buck naked. The only thread of rationality left in her said that she had no choice but to rely on this despicable fellow in front of her.

"Fine. Junior Brother Ling, I'm begging you. Please, help me get rid of this drug," Cheng Yu weakly said.

Ling Xiao inched his face closer to Cheng Yu's, so much so that the both of them could hear the sound of the other breathing. This situation made Cheng Yu's heart beat like a frisky monkey and her mind ran like a cantering horse. Flustered, she quickly turned her head to the side. "Junior Brother Ling, I'm begging you!"
