A Demon's Path Chapter 90

Everyone's attention was focused on Ao and Liu Xintang. Even Li Yuanchong didn't notice that a hideous looking dog was standing right next to him. With sharp teeth and brown fur, this clearly was a vicious dog who was all bite and no bark.

"Hey, Li Yuanchong, do you have an array that can bundle you three up together?" a soft voice sounded from behind Li Yuanchong. He whipped his body around and looked at Yue Mingming and Yang Chao. "Did you guys say something?"

The duo shook their head. "No…"

"Idiot! It's me!" Li Yuanchong finally found where the voice was coming from. A dog was glaring at him with a fierce glint in its eyes. If it were a child who shot him such a glare, he would be haunted with nightmares for weeks to come!

The expressions on the faces of Li Yuanchong, Yue Mingming, and Yang Chao warped and twisted with all the wonderful colours of the rainbow. Their mouths fell open widely like a goldfish's, unable to close them. "L-ling… Ling Xiao?"

"Shhh! Quiet down a bit!" The dog bared its fangs. It had such vivid expressions. Seeing this was likely a first and a last for these three youngsters. "Li Yuanchong, now that you have the chance, quickly set up an array and bundle the three of you up together. I'll get you guys out of here!" Ling Xiao was speaking in a hurried tone. Naturally, Li Yuanchong could sense Ling Xiao was really in a hurry. After all, he was a person who normally did everything tepidly.

"Alright!" Li Yuanchong didn't continue with the riff-raff. He quickly sat down cross-legged and closed his eyes. Rapidly spreading his Heavenly soulforce, he set up a tiny array around the four of them.

Liu Xintang struck Ao with his fists atop the hill. After which a faint trace of blood seeped down Ao's lips. It didn't concern him in the slightest. With his arm that was as thick as a tree trunk, he rubbed it off. "Castellan Liu, the Celestial Soul Masters and the Demonic Clan have been fighting for so many years. This is the first time I've seen your cowardly self out in battle. But do you think you can run away?"

There wasn't a hint of fear in Liu Xintang's eyes. "Even a small demonic beast like you wants to get in my way…"

"Castellan Liu, we are honoured by your presence. If I, the Lord of this Myriad Demon Island, don't personally welcome you, it'd be a little unfair to my guests." A flurry of red clothing fluttered down.

"Demon Lord!" Liu Xintang's emotions finally wavered, if ever so slightly. However, her arrival was within his predictions, so he wasn't all too surprised.

"We pay our respects to the Demon Lord!" The demonic beasts on Myriad Demon Island knelt down in front of the Demon Lord as a sign of utmost respect.

When Ling Xiao the brown dog saw the woman clad in red, his heart shuddered. Isn't she the one who dragged Tang Yingying away in my dream? So she's the Demon Lord! If she was here, Tang Yingying also had to be nearby! He felt a surge of warmth in his heart when that little girl crossed his mind. Yingying, wait for Big Brother Xiao! Big Brother Xiao will definitely come and get you! With those words, he made up his mind. Since he already had to face off against the leaders of the Seven Grand Holy Lands, what did it mean to also add the Demon Lord of the Demon Archipelago to the mix? Nothing!

Damned woman, you dare stop me? I'll kill you! Ling Xiao wasn't concerned about their current power disparity. All he knew was that whoever dared to step in his and Tang Yingying's way would be sent flying with a kick of his boot!

When Ao saw that the Demon Lord had personally arrived, he cowered in obedience. He went from an arrogant prick to a docile puppy in a matter of milliseconds. Falling to his knees, he spoke with a trembling voice, "I-I humbly report to the Demon Lord… I-I didn't s-see L-Ling Xiao…"

"Trash!" The Demon Lord's red sleeve lightly brushed against Ao. It sent his sturdy body flying with immense force. A hundred meters further he crashed into a hill. Bang! A large cloud of dust rose upwards as crushed rocks splashed about. It was all that remained of the hill.

The Demon Lord's anger wasn't fully quelled.  She cast her gaze at Liu Xintang, suddenly revealing a small smile. "Castellan Liu, even if all of your men here were to die today, your position as the Castellan wouldn't be in danger. There is a person of value here, isn't there?"

The corners of Liu Xintang's eyes twitched. "I, Liu Xintang, have caused a disaster. I don't have the face to live another day. I will accept my fate and die with these brothers of mine!"

The Demon Lord naturally didn't believe Liu Xintang's words. Even though she'd never considered Liu Xintang a threat, she was willing to admit he had some skill. "True. You don't have much face left after standing atop the city walls all that time and watching your men send themselves to their deaths. Did you know? It was your son and Shen Xuan who colluded with my junior demon general Ao to make this all possible. They sold all these lives here." A flirtatious chuckle escaped the Demon Lord. But to the Celestial Soul Masters, it turned to one that would haunt them in their nightmares for all of eternity.

"Castellan! Castellan!" The surviving Celestial Soul Masters didn't dare believe it all, yet they couldn't not believe it either.

Liu Xintang's eyes became dull, losing their glow. "Demon Lord, why are you doing this? I only wish to die here today alongside my brothers. It's the least I can do to compensate for everything my Liu Family owes them-"

"How are you going to compensate them? Do you think your life is worth something?" came a fierce voice. "As long as your Granddaddy Ling is alive, only death awaits your son's rotten life!"

The Demon Lord looked at the person, or rather dog who spoke these words with interest. She chuckled and said, "Ling Xiao, I never thought you'd even lower yourself and become a dog just to survive."

"Ling Xiao?" A wave of shock ran through the crowd. They hadn't seen Ling Xiao and thought he fled. But he was here? And he'd even turned himself into a dog!

A red glow flashed around the devilish beast with canine teeth. It quickly returned to human form, revealing the Ling Xiao everyone knew. "Liu Xintang, the Demon Lord's words were directed toward me. She thinks I don't know what your son and Shen Xuan did, so she wanted to let me know. She hopes I'll return to the Sunken Wind Valley to search for Shen Xuan and avenge her."

The Demon Lord clapped her hands in admiration. She spoke words of praise, "Smart boy. My daughter really does have quite the eye for character."

Ling Xiao looked at the Demon Lord with a steady gaze. "You don't need to bring Yingying up to distract me. You know you can't keep me here."

Everyone was dumbfounded when they heard these words. Had Ling Xiao gone crazy? Did he know who he was talking to? Did he know who the Demon Lord was? She was a gigantic bird who was equally as famous as the current masters of the Seven Grand Holy Lands. How dare he suggest she couldn't keep him here?!

"Demon Lord, kill this brat!" the demonic beasts bellowed.

Ling Xiao looked at the Celestial Soul Masters and said, "Brothers, all of you are good people. I, Ling Xiao, swear on the name of my soul, I will avenge all of you! What's left is for you to die with dignity."

Grief previously consumed the Celestial Soul Masters. They never expected that one of their own had sold them off! But Ling Xiao's words ignited the last thread of hope residing in the depths of their hearts, setting it ablaze. Even if they were to die, it would come at a price. It would come at the death of the enemy!

"Brothers, let's explode!" Following the furious roar from someone in the crowd, the soul chains hanging around the necks of the 2,000 surviving red and orange ranked Celestial Soul Masters started glowing. They could explode at any time!

"Playing with self-detonation in front of me?" The Demon Lord had a charming smile on her face as she lightly waved her jade hand. A violet ball of light enveloped the Celestial Soul Masters and prevented them from exploding their soul chains. Even if they wanted to, they couldn't.

"What about me?" Liu Xintang roared, his body glowing with a blue light. His body was as swift as the wind as he rammed into the violet light enveloping the Celestial Soul Masters.

"Li Yuanchong, we're going!" Ling Xiao had long since crushed the Teleportation Talisman in his hands to bits. The glow of a white array appeared beneath Li Yuanchong's feet, after which the four of them disappeared.

A black mushroom cloud rose up from Myriad Demon Island. It was but a statistic in the history books from here on out.

Ling Xiao, Li Yuanchong, Yang Chao, and Yue Mingming appeared again on the beach near Seadragon City. They were within the Celestial Soul Ward, so they no longer needed to fear the attack of a high ranked demonic beast like the Demon Lord.

"Only the four of us survived…" Yang Chao lowered his head as sadness washed over him.

Yue Mingming shook his head with all his might, as though he wanted to banish what had happened from his mind. "Forget it, forget it! In the end, we're far too weak…"

Li Yuanchong looked off into the distance. Where there once was an island, there were now only the rolling waves of the sea. He spoke with his tone ever grave and stern, "Shen Xuan… I want to kill him."

Ling Xiao faintly smiled and said, "Lil' Brother Yuanchong, I saved you. Isn't it only fair you let me take his life?"

Li Yuanchong was rendered speechless. He finally asked, "How did you get that high ranked Teleportation Talisman?"

Ling Xiao laughed with a hint of mockery. "Shen Xuan's father gave it to me."
